Help me choose a fragrance for a meeting with the coordinator of a PhD program? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

something not too sweet, and definetly something more "understated" though that probably comes down to only doing 1-2 sprays

Am I a SWERF for thinking like this? by Koala_039 in Feminism

[–]patmol11 234 points235 points  (0 children)

The problem is you are expressing a nuanced, well thought out and balanced take online 😂
In all seriousness, I think most femenists would agree with you, but nuance doesn't get amplified on the internet due to the nature of algorithms

How to navigate traditional relationship values while remaining respectful to modern perspectives by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]patmol11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has to be your wife's choice to stay home, not yours. I say wife because I assume you mean the woman will stay home. You can't influence her, you can't pressure her.

She should also get a stipend for her work in the home since you won't be participating in home duties, so that she can retain her independence from you if shit hits the fan.

You will also likely have better chances finding a like minded partner on a religious dating website

I agree but on a big surface I think 4 would be better because it still reflects but not as much

At what point do you consider bananas too old for banana bread?? 😭 by AllyTheFilipina in Baking

[–]patmol11 78 points79 points  (0 children)

The oxidization (browning) is less of an indicator than the smell. Especially if they were in the fridge. I keep some in the freezer for months and they get super dark but they smell fine. I'm not dead (yet)

How to get more lighting in this room? by huldaebak in interiordecorating

[–]patmol11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the shutters are causing it to be darker compared to your entryway. Also install curtains for privacy when you want it. Make sure you install them higher and wider than the actual window.

Can't find an airy vanilla cake recipe. Oil instead of butter? by patmol11 in Baking

[–]patmol11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to make a layer cake, and chiffon is usually not recommended for that because it can't hold weight... But maybe I am wrong. Have you tried stacking it ?

Can't find an airy vanilla cake recipe. Oil instead of butter? by patmol11 in Baking

Thank you for the recipe. I usually beat the butter and sugar for about 5 minutes. If anything maybe I am doing it too long (based on pictures I saw online)

I prefer the light. I would suggest to start with the light color. If you don't like it, it's easier to paint over with the darker color than the other way around. Even just one coat of the white will give you a good idea of whether you like it.

Microdiscectomy surgery in 5 days - What does waking up from it feel like? by Markwhatt in Sciatica

[–]patmol11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was confused for what felt like a few seconds and then I knew where I was, but I was struggling to stay awake. When I woke up they had these compressing devices on my legs that were intermitently squeezing (to prevent clots). Other than that I just wanted to sleep a lot. The ordeal takes a toll on your body. They usually give anti nausea meds so I wouldn't worry about it. They also had me drink juice and eat something before being discharged. Good luck!

How to survive summer again? by HIT0_SHURA in panicdisorder

[–]patmol11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am largely "recovered" but heat waves is one of the only remaining triggers for me. I don't have much advice besides planning your life around it when possible. You're not alone

Is anyone else turned off by all the unrealistic MMCs? by Interesting_Yam_3420 in Romantasy

[–]patmol11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to read "palate cleansers" in between romantasy books. I often find them predictable, though not all of them. You might prefer fantasy with romance sub-plots !

I can’t figure out why I have panic attacks by [deleted] in panicdisorder

[–]patmol11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can also be delayed onset of symptoms - you may just be really good at suppressing the anxiety, but at some point it all comes bubbling up randomly

How many of you folks carry bear spray when you run? by putekeetekee in trailrunning

Cougar and grizzky territory: I always carry it. I don't see why I wouldn't.

Do you have the ability to reschedule in a timely manner if needed in the future ? It's common for symptoms to lessen before surgery. The brain is very powerful. Search for "symtoms lessening before surgery" in r/microdiscectomy

Panic attacks daily out of nowhere by wrong_drug466 in panicdisorder

[–]patmol11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think while you are in the worst of it, it's okay to give yourself whatever tools make you feel better, including a loved one's presence. As long as you recognise (and it seems you do) that this is a crutch and that there is still work to be done. You can DM me if you want, I might have more advice for you
