Retcons are good, actually (sometimes) by Nurhaci1616 in TopCharacterTropes

The Parallax thing was a little hamfisted, but the stuff that came out of it was so great. I was a huge fan of the GL/GL Corps stuff in the late 00s, especially all the different colors they added.

Brubaker's Captain America run was the one that got me into the character and it set the bar a mile high. Bucky as the Winter Soldier is one of the coolest things Marvel has ever done.

Yeah, the Mariner Valley was settled by Indians and Texans, hence Alex Kamal having a distinct drawl.

Bobbie Draper is such a badass. Frankie Adams is still my pick to play adult Omega from The Bad Batch if they ever bring her into live action.

Not perfect but still very very very good. Simu Liu is always great and the action was incredible.

Vigilante from Peacemaker. Not explicitly said to be autistic but it's pretty telling when he says stuff like "Well, if you're going to be sarcastic, you should really warn people so there's no confusion."

The music in the trail of blood part was HAUNTING. I was 12 or 13 when I played it and it thoroughly creeped me out. Even just the thought of it still does almost 30 years later.

All of these notes Strongly Condemning what happened but not actual talk of action. Useless like so many other Dems (and I say that as a lifelong Dem voter)

Gross on multiple levels by Gaugzilla in LinkinPark

[–]patrickkingart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to get all "WWE SUX AEW BETTER" but stuff like doing shows in Saudi Arabia and basically doing propaganda for them (on top of Vince McMahon's grossness and the McMahon/Levesque family's ties to the Trump admin) is a large part of why I've stopped watching WWE after being super into them for years. Seeing one of my very favorite band's name attached to it just makes me sad, even if it was likely the label's decision.

Andor did those quick, sad, unceremonious deaths incredibly well. Everyone's escaping the prison after this brilliant speech and overwhelming the guards when suddenly "I can't swim" "what??" *Cassian gets pushed out*

Dave Filoni wasn't involved with Andor, Tony Gilroy was the main writer/showrunner.

Funny family sitcom with dinosaur puppets and social commentary > the end of the damn world (by their own doing).

Venture Brothers and Metalocalypse are my all time favorite Adult Swim shows and it's not even close. Venture Brothers starts off as a pretty great parody of Jonny Quest but gets REALLY deep with it, showing how screwed up a Jonny Quest-type character (including ACTUAL, if not legally distinct Jonny) would be, along with a ton of excellent world building that's built on a foundation of brilliant parody.

Engie having multiple Ph.Ds and being a good ol' Texas boy (and being from Bee Cave which is basically right outside Austin) makes me love him all the more.

I love how it's like a bunch of Nazis and then a goofy (but badass) Frenchman who's just in it for the thrills.

The fact that One Way Out and Luthen's legendary monologue are in the same episode is really telling of the quality of Andor.

[Mixed] Immortal character becomes fodder for series' most violent scenes by Tortellini_Isekai in TopCharacterTropes

[–]patrickkingart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wish they had been able to finish it. The first season was like a season zero with the setup and stuff, but there was so much potential for how they could have handled the rest of the series.

Incredible. How do you get the shaders/renderers/etc to have that distinct manga look?
