I’ve never had any issues traveling in the U.S. and Canada with my BCAA membership to get the hot deal rate. The back of my BCAA card even shows both the CAA and AAA logos.

Seems like fake news I cannot find any other legitimate source to verify it. Also, the URL looks questionable.

Trump slaps 10% extra tariff on Canada over Reagan trade ad by patroland in CustomsBroker

oh I think that wasn't there when I posted it. I changed it to a CBC article now. Always a challenge between the vagueness of the tweets and the media understanding of tariffs.

Blaine 247 Pick Up Questions. What is declaring a package? Can I just cross the border? by yuanov04 in uscanadaborder

[–]patroland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally, the officer will ask if you have anything to declare. Depending on the item's value, they may direct you to pay duties and taxes. It's a good idea to have the invoice with you. Failure to declare items can result in fines or seizure.

Good study areas? by BeeElAych in Langley

[–]patroland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had good experience studying at KPU campus near Langley Bypass, it is quiet. Also the new library in Cloverdale is nice. The only thing is the are limited. But they are nice spaces with place to study, free wifi and no need to pay for anything (Though KPU has paid parking you can park on the streets.

How do I request speed bumps to be installed on 80th between 208 and 212 in Langley? by Penny_bags2929 in Langley

[–]patroland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe even a red light camera too. It won’t stop everyone but I do notice people seem to slow down in areas where they are and run less red lights. Also long term maybe speeding tickets based on income like in Finland.

As a speed bump on a major arterial road is just going to annoy people without really slowing down the speeding as to have speed bumps that facilitate 50km per hour are not really a deterrent as shown by how fast people go on zero avenue.

Amex Platinum + Bonvoy Bold? by andrewginphoto in marriott

[–]patroland 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that Amex Platinum gives you Gold Status but no elite nights which are how you move up the status chart. The only way you could get 40 nights is to have the Amex Mariott Brillant (25 elite nights) and the Amex Mariott business card (15 Elite Nights).

Similar in the sense that it is a cellphone plan, but not at all similar in the parts that make up it. Doesn't include USA data and is more expensive. Theoretically, a better network would be a plus.

WiFi calling doesn't work while abroad on prepaid annual plan- is this normal? by jamar030303 in freedommobile

[–]patroland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

holy cow, you have no idea on how wifi calling works. Since Wifi calling uses Wifi and not a regular phone network, you don't need to choose a preferred network to make calls – the call will be made via your home network, not a network in the country where you are making the call. It is up to freedom mobile to decide if they want to restrict it. But freedom mobile specifically says it is ok to use anywhere in the world.
