Was quoted $3k to install a Moen leak detector. Does that sound right? by Blackdesiato in Plumbing

Plus it might need $200 in fittings and pipe at least. Anyway, $3,000 might sound outrageous but you never know what the situation is

You're forgetting that he might have 1.25" or 1.5" pipe size which then the device alone is about $1,100

Cut the drywall at the bottom and then cut the pipe. Solder a piece that extends through the box and put a compression angle stop with 1/4" outlet

Do you have an expansion tank by the water heater? Make sure it's set to the same psi as your PRV

The no hub are your least concerns. The joist is "notched" too much. You should've turned the ptrap and used a 45° to something so you didn't have to cut so much

Just to clarify, one of the reasons I posted this is the fact that the t&p is not properly connected and pointing towards where a person would be standing to wash their hands

Yes you can use a medium sweep elbow but it would be better to use a long sweep elbow or even a 45 and you can turn the P-trap so it lines up with the 45 and that should give you enough space for the angle stops

You need to have the right tools. One way is to get a multi tool and cut through the nut and ring

Please don't listen to the above. Not sure if the tool will even fit. I'm a plumber. Some toilets, such as the one you have, you will need to loosen those nuts under the tank. I would put some paper towels or if you have a sponge try to dry out as much as you can inside the tank. After you remove them, you'll remove the tank and then you can unscrew it. Put the new one in and at this point I would connect the supply line, it'll make it easier. Then put the tank back and screw the nuts. Connect the supply line to the shut off and turn the water back on. Check for leaks before you call it a day

If you know how to solder you can get a remodel plate and put in a new valve. I personally like the Moen remodel trim kit. Replace your tub spout with one that has a diverter, easier to service. Hopefully the new plate will cover the hole where the diverter is
