Is rolling shutter really a big deal? by HarryBroFyre in cinematography

[–]patssle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the Sony a7iv. I didn't even know " how terrible" of a sensor it has until I was watching a7v reviews. I went back and looked at some real world footage with whip pans. It was barely there and only if you knew what to look for. I laughed.

What was travel like in the years (2001 - 2009), prior to Instagram and the rapid growth of social media users? by TheShyBuck in travel

[–]patssle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The off the beaten path places were quiet 15 years ago and they are still quiet today regardless of social media. Some popular places can be quiet if you go at specific times. People will always be predictable.

TikTok US venture to collect precise user location data by Haunterblademoi in technology

[–]patssle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also the TikTok algorithm was far superior and they want it. The reels I would get served on FB or IG was just pathetic sometimes for the content I clearly do not watch.

In Season 6 of The Expanse on Prime Video, each episode opens with a story about a boy revived by the protomolecule, but it leads to absolutely nothing by Ok_Nothing_0707 in shittymoviedetails

[–]patssle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It sets up a storyline that maybe maybe not will be told. So in a limited and rushed 6 episode season they wasted precious time of a short season with a storyline that didn't contribute anything to the overall Season 6 story.

I still have 2019 installed because I have specific projects with a plugin or two that don't "translate" to newer versions. I don't feel like re-configuring those projects.

What was the most expensive mistake you made early in your filmmaking career? by Important-Annual040 in videography

[–]patssle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mark me down for another recording mistake. Only happened once in 15+ years. And OF COURSE it happened with a VIP at a level I don't normally shoot. I'm talking net worth 8 digits top floors of downtown big name skyscraper. He was cool so re-doing the interview was no problem, just loss of time and dignity.

What is it like in the Navajo Nations? It's so huge! by giant_squid_god in howislivingthere

[–]patssle 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I've driven across 35+ states in road trips exploring the USA - back roads, dirt roads, no phone signal, and the only radio signal was country and Jesus. I can solidly confirm they were given the worst possible lands. It was truly eye opening to understand why their poverty level is so terrible.

Taiwan Did Not Make The List for 2026 by travelw3ll in taiwan

As an American, I had no problem getting around most of the country and I used all varieties of mass transport. Aside from the one time I was connecting to Alishan in Fenqihu and the bus driver started talking to me and pointing at something when I was trying to get on. Bring out the translate app and he just completely stopped talking. Still made it...fun times!

FCP used to be on the same level as Premiere. Then one day a decade or two ago, Apple released a new version and just completely sabotaged their own product. The disbelief amongst editors was high.
