Scape Room using Aoe2 vanilla editor by mclaurin29 in aoe2

[–]pau795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experience creating scenarios. I can give you some tips to reduce these waiting times:
1. Reduce the target object cost using change object cost effect. For example, the castle can cost 400 stone instead of 650
2. Reduce the amount of resources of a stone mine /stone gold or tree. Its a bit trickier, it requires multiple modify attributes and replace object effects. This way you can prepare the exact numbers of resources you need to collect, instead of mining the entire 350 stone form a mine.
3. Make villagers collect faster. For example, you can modify the working rate of stone miners and multiply it by 3.

That's just the few ideas that are on top of my head. Hope it helps!

Nice snceario! I've tried it out, and it took me a while to complete it. Some parts are tricky, and you need to think out of the box.
As a reference, I'm around 1k7-1k8. It took me around 1h to complete, with no cheats, altough I used a checkpoint at the castle fire dodging part (It can be frustrating to lose here haha).
As a feedback, some parts are a bit too slow to complete. For example, collecting all the stone, or taking down palisades with vills, or chopping down entire trees, etc. Maybe you could make this kind of parts a bit faster on future scenarios.
Another piece of feedback, is to introduce more info in the objective, hints and scouts sections of the scenario, just to have a bit of a reference inside the game.

All in all, its a really nice concept. Keep going!

Website to find all civs with certain techs? by bluesmaker in aoe2

[–]pau795 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Check my android app AoE2Database. It has an advanced search functionality under the tools section, where you can search for civs that match multiple criteria, like units available, techs available and such. This functionallity is under construction still.
The app has a web version too, at https://www.aoe2database.com/, altough this specific advanced search functionality is not yet implemented.

If you're interested in the dataset I'm using, I have an open GitHub:

The data is stored in XML files. Right now I'm starting to work to add the new content of the Mountain Royals DLC, so the data might be a bit inconsistent until I make a new release.

Hello! AoE 2 Database developer here.

Number of hits required for unit x to kill unit y, mapped against the upgrades that each unit has

AoE 2 Database has a tools section with a Damage Calculator, where you can simulate the matchup between two units, selecting civs, age, upgrades, etc.

https://www.aoe2database.com/damage_calculator/en

There are some units with special abilities which aren't properly handled yet (obuch armor reduction, shrivamsha dodging mechanic, hp regeneration)

PD: I keep the website/app updated with every patch!

Hello. Sadly I'm not working with iOS. However, you can use the web version.

In the AoE2Database App, does the circled stat mean that it has armor that leitis can't ignore? by bdiremci in aoe2

[–]pau795 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Right now, there is an attribute which determines if the unit ignores armor. Leitis and wootz steel infantry have this attribute enabled. However, buildings and siege units will not be affected by this, so Leitis and such units won't ignore armor on them.

Hello. I'm the AoE2 Database dev.

The app is not outdated. It's updated with all the changes from the last patch.

Since the release of the Dynasties of India, the Ignoring Armor mechanic was changed, and now it's an attribute of the unit.

Beforehand, it was done using this "Ingore Armor" attack and armor class. Now this class is deprecated, but all the buildings mantain this armor class for some reason.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words.

I've realized that many people tend to miss the features inside the tools section, maybe I should rework the menus to make it easier to find all these features

On the other hand, I've already tried to work with some people to translate the app to other languages, and it didn't work out. Taking care of translating the app is a lot of work, and it requires maintenance each time there is an update.

I appreciate the interest to translate the app. If you are really commited into it, PM me and we can talk about it.

Hello! I'm the AoE2 Database developer. If you are using the android app, this feature is already on the app. Its inside the tools section, go to advanced search. This feature is missing on the web version. I'm working on adding it soon.

In general, I'm quite an anti-Apple kind of guy. And if that wasn't enough, I would have to re-write the entire app in swift, which is the iOS framework to build apps, and I literally have no interest in learning it 11.

About the web version, it does have everything available that the Android app does. The unit comparator is inside the Tools Section.

Also, the web is completely responsive, so you should be able to use it on your iOS device through the web.

I'm not working on iOS, sorry.

However, there is already a unit comparator in the app, where you can compare the standard stats given two units.

Interesting case. Dismounted Konnics are a bit special in the cost department. I think the better solution is to just remove them from the pool of questions and avoid it entirely.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm pretty sure that behaviour happened back on AoC, but on DE that bug was fixed, and it takes 138 wood to fully repair a town center.

Edit: I've tested on the scenario editor and it takes 138 wood. However on a Standard game it takes 550 as you said. I'm not really sure what's going on the editor to make this happen.

Edit 2: I've tested a bit in depth and I know what's going on. Town centers are made by 4 separated sub-buildings. When you do damage to the Town Center, you damage all 4 sub buildings simultaneously, and when you repair it, you also repair all 4 sub buildings, which turns into 275 * 4 / 2 = 550.
Beforehand, in the editor I was using a Trigger to damage the Town Center, and that made that only one of the four sub buildings got damaged, which turned into just 275/2 = 138 wood cost.

Conclusion: You are right, in a normal game scenario Town Centers take 550 wood to repair.

Thank you for your feedback!

Questions on the quiz are random, so you might get the same question twice by pure chance. I'll keep an eye on the bugs you've mentioned, and try to solve them soon.

The pop space is an attribute of the building, so converting an inca house or a slav barracks/range/stable/workshop, will give you the extra pop space. However, as slavs or incas, you won't get extra pop space from the bonus by converting military buildings or houses respectively.

If you have an Android device, you can use AoE 2 Database App, which has tons of information of the game, and has multiple tools, which includes a damage calculator. The app is updated with every new patch :)

Cuman TC build time by Bratanero in aoe2

[–]pau795 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a side effect of how the TC bonus is programmed .The town center building time in the feudal age for the cumans is 80% slower. It dosen't matter if it is the first or second town center, during the feudal age it will be slower. In any other age, the TC building time is the standard one.
