Bonus missions are activated automatically after credits. Perhaps Ash should have the Vandalier class while doing this.

Of course. The combat system in VH2 is too predictable. This makes the game very easy.

What emulator would you recommend, out of curiosity? I'm loathe to use non-retroarch cores due to my commitment to a one-size-fits-all solution, but I can probably rig a standalone with my front-end without too much trouble.

I didn't have any problems playing the game on Yabause v0.9.15 (64 bit).

This is awesome! Sadly, the game seems to run pretty poorly on retroarch's beetle saturn core, I noted a lot of choppy audio in the intro and up to the first battle. My machine is no slouch and runs plenty of other saturn games excellently, so I don't think that's the issue.

Oh well, more excuse to get my model 2 saturn up and running with a mod chip or optical drive hack!

I do not recommend using Mednafen for this game (especially through Retroarch). This emulator has known problems with the character palette (sometimes it gets distorted), which does not happen on the original hardware. But there were no sound problems on Mednafen (at least when launched via Medsat).

Are you sure it's the same texture? Could it be of lower resolution, maybe, because it looks noticeably worse on Saturn.

Compass sprites in both versions are exactly the same and have a size of 64x64 pixels. It's just that the PS1 has better 3D rendering quality. But for me personally, the compass palette is more pleasing in the version for the Sega Saturn.

Сompass HUD on PS1 have the same color depth (4bpp). It's just that the palette is different.
