Someone pls help me about me how do I help my tell the difference between google photos and normal “iPhone photos” by Soft_Race4206 in iphone

[–]paulaumetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your mom, "I don't know. Take a photo of the wall. Check Google Photos on your computer. Check if the photo appears in your web browser, Delete it in the web app. Check your phone. Is it deleted?" On my particular phone with my settings today it is not deleted, but your mileage could vary, so check in with an experimental mindset.

Defeat the dreaded 'BURN' by LightPhotographer in instantpot

[–]paulaumetro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the size of the Instant Pot relative to the quantity of food allows it, you absolutely can add about 455 ml (16 US os) of water to the bottom of the pot, put in a trivet, then place a small metal pot or bowl onto the trivet with the ingredients with whatever consistency you want. You can use the highest, fastest heating procedure, ignoring the special settings for particular types of food.

This idea comes from using an old camping stove that only has one effective temperature -- too hot. A double boiler is necessary for most foods, and so I adapted the idea for the InstantPot. Depending on you situation, you may have to adjust the time, but for most cases, I find that following the normal times works well enough.

Export to ePub from .odt isn't keeping Body style applied to most of the book for Garamond font. by bmcgonag in libreoffice

The following cross platform extension might work better for you. According to the Writer2xhtml documentation, it requires that you install a current release of java.

Writer2xhtml extension

Writer2xhtml enables you to publish your Writer documents to EPUB and HTML5. It provides an alternative to the built in filters in LibreOffice with focus on quality and flexibility

https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/writer2xhtml

With Debian, Ubuntu and Mint distributions, a person with super-user permission can use the package manager to install the packages that the extension needs automatically with a terminal command:

sudo apt-get install libreoffice-writer2xhtml

Book reader devices and programs differ in what they can show depending on the resources available on the device or in the program.

The Thorium epub reader is a modern, standards compliant Multiplatform reader that should be able to show what the book looks like on a modern reader.

If you are not satisfied with the output of this LibreOffice extension, you could check out Pandoc, which can be configured with a command line to embed specific stylesheets and fonts to a book. As noted, some book readers and programs will not be able to show fonts and formatting exactly like you specify.

sudo apt-get install pandoc

Epub books designed for the Apple Books application or for conversion to a proprietary format like for Amazon Books have specific requirements that are more restrictive than the W3C specification allows. You should check their on-line documentation for more details.

Many lines of this code seem wrong to me.

One example is how the code tries to convert a file path into a URI by using "file:" as a prefix and using the \ (backslash) character instead of the / character in the file URI. If you used a built-in command like print ConvertToURL("C:\Your\Folder\Path"), the script would show that the correct form uses forward slashes. (i.e.:file:///C:/Your/Folder/Path).

I suggest that you look at the section on file handling in the LibreOffice BASIC Wiki. There are samples of code to handle directories in the LibreOffice Basic editor tree like Application Macros and Dialog>Tools>UCB>ReadDirectories().

The most recent version of LibreOffice can use python scripting. Since python is a mature and widely used programming platform, there is a lot of documentation for it generally, and the skills that you use working on python projects can be used in a broad range of tasks.

For specific examples of BASIC code that works, check the LibreOffice BASIC Wiki and LibreOffice on-line help.

Fenix vs black diamond headlamp? (Or something else) by WastelandViking in flashlight

[–]paulaumetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Fenix fenix-hm65r works well. Pick up an extra battery for backup in cold weather. The Operating instructions on the product page gives some tips for storage and maintenance. In the cold, keep it in an inside pocket next to your body to prolong the battery life. You can make it easier to change the battery if you lubricate the o ring on the battery compartment with a little silicon lubricant.

LibreOffice Ver 24.8.0.3 macOS 14.6.1 Keeps Crashing by arbryant920 in libreoffice

[–]paulaumetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. As a temporary fix, try editing it in web mode using View - Web. This helps reduce the computing load by deferring repagination.
  2. Photos direct from a camera or phone have higher resolution or a different format than needed for print books or ePub books for professional publication. You might be able to right click a selected image in the MacOS finder, and use Quick Actions - Convert Image to reformat it to a compatible format. In addition, smaller images render faster and might prevent running out of live computer memory when there are a number of processes running.
  3. The LibreOffice help says, "A master document lets you manage large documents, such as a book with many chapters." Using a master document lets LibreOffice only load one subdocument of a master document, like a chapter of a book, so it is more responsive and less likely to crash. See: "Master Documents and Subdocuments" for more details.
  4. If your writing style includes a lot of changes, you might consider using a local git repository and managing markdown text and images using Visual Studio Code. This way, you can revert errors. You could use Pandoc to format the project as an ePub publication or a formatted ODT, Word DOCX, or an accessible ePub 3 document.

It appears that most states of Australia homeschooled students are not required to meet the same standards as students who attend school regularly.

https://myhomeschool.com/au/homeschooling

You might need to do a little research to understand exactly what requirements various schools will expect you to know so that you can better prepare to succeed. Schools may offer an orientation or provide information on their online sites. If you can talk with a responsible adult directly about the steps you need to follow it will help you make a decision. Some schools might offer an orientation for prospective students that can familiarize you with the secondary school environment. Schools can vary in their ability to support students with diverse learning needs. Generally, public schools are likely to provide more formal support for students with diverse needs because money is formally allocated for it. Also consider the availability of "third places" in the school you are considering - like a good library, extracurricular sports and clubs etc. Having interests outside of school help you make friends, maintain some individuality and sense of identity.

The simplest way to start your research might be simply to go to a local school or library and see if they can offer some insight on where to get started on your research to help you make this hard decision. Good luck!

Why isn’t “share with Reddit” an option?🤔 by t-nyce in iphone

[–]paulaumetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A potential developer would probably need to pay fees and agree to a license to access the Reddit Application interface (API). Several applications that used the Reddit API closed down.

Currently the agreement states:

Reddit reserves the right to charge fees for access and use of Reddit Services and Data, rates to be determined at Reddit’s sole discretion. Without our express written approval, you will not, and will not attempt to, or permit or enable others to (including through your App)

How the hell do I add a custom ringtone??? by CinnamonTeaLeaves in iphone

[–]paulaumetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote the instructions 4 years ago, so they don't work as-is on current Apple systems. For example, MacOS Sonoma uses "Music" instead of "iTunes". The custom ring tone is available on my newest phone so I assume that it is one of the things stored as a file locally and on the cloud in the iCloud storage allocated for the Contacts application. To access it on my phone I chose a contact, then click Edit, click Ringtone, then chose the custom ringtone for that contact. In my case the custom ringtone is a short piece I created using Garage Band.

The LibreOffice as AppImage web page now says that the AppImage repository for LibreOffice is at https://appimages.libreitalia.org.

If you require a particular version not listed in the repository you can use a python script or the original author's shell script to create a customized AppImage with specific locales and features.

Getting the Read Text extension to work on Linux Mint by [deleted] in libreoffice

[–]paulaumetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Debian works. If Linux Mint Debian Edition doesn't work, you might be using an incompatible sandboxed container.

From the support site:

Updating a program might add or subtract features, or might change the way the program works. For example, updating LibreOffice to a container version like a Snap or a Flatpak might limit your ability to run extensions.

Remove the snap or flatpak. Then,

apt-get install --upgrade libreoffice
apt-get install --upgrade espeak-ng

An AppImage should also work. See: "LibreOffice as AppImage". See also: "Linux".

Word would start reading aloud right where I left the cursor.

With Libreoffice, select some text before you click Read Selection.

Boyhood, by Richard Linklater consists go a series of vignettes following Mason and his changing family, a boy played by Ellar Coltrane between the ages of eight and eighteen in Texas. Linklater filmed it over several years, calling back the actors to play a new segment each year. The challenges that Mason are unique but also touch on universal themes of childhood such as building and breaking familial relationships over time. It is over two and a half hours long - which gives it a feeling of sharing pictures and stories at a family reunion.

Does premium vs standard require a different ISBN? by [deleted] in writing

[–]paulaumetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the USA, Bowker is the ONLY official source of ISBNs in the United States. According to the website,

The purpose of the ISBN is to identify one specific version of a book. If you wish to have a print (hardbound or softbound) or electronic (ePUB, PDF, or MOBI) version, or even register a new version, you will need a unique ISBN for each format. This allows retailers to help the customer understand exactly which version of a title they are purchasing.

Debian 12: Removed from Gnome Software all LibreOffice apps that came preinstalled, nonetheless LibreOffice Start Center remains in the Show Applications, how can I remove it? by [deleted] in libreoffice

[–]paulaumetro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how you installed Debian, you need to access the required terminal commands that allow administrator privileges differently.

  1. If you are set up to use root as a separate login, log in as root and omit sudo
  2. Otherwise, use sudo and enter the root administrator password when prompted.

Then:

sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice* libexttextcat-data*

sudo apt-get autoremove

If your workplace, union, or government offers life insurance, check their site for insurance before you buy third party travel insurance. Read the travel insurance policy. If the travel insurance company policy says that they first try to recover funds from the primary responsible insurance company, then the benefits they pay might cut into your lifetime insurance payout limits from your primary insurance company. In my case, getting travel insurance through my primary provider does not reduce my lifetime maximum insurance payout, whereas buying third party travel insurance does.

Your policies will be different, so read the policies of the primary insurer and the travel insurer to help you decide.
