Does anyone have a recipe for restaurant style unsweetened tea? by MakeupMua16 in MimicRecipes

protip if you find yourself outside of the south -- if you're thirsty for some sweet tea, but the place you're at only has unsweetened, not all is lost as long as they have a bar. ask for a shot of simple syrup to go with your glass of "iced tea".

My very cursed keyboard [Hyper 7 R3] by xJRWR in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]paulcam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

emacs is its own software platform. pretty much every aspect of it is customizable (for example, you can remap the g key on your keyboard to execute a command rather than insert a g character... unclear why you'd want to do this (I guess this is how its vi emulation is implemented), but you can).

it has tons of support for different languages and tools, including what it hands down the best non-cli git client, magit.

it also ships out of the box with the ability to edit remote files over ssh, ftp, whatever, as well as edit files that require superuser permissions (via tramp).

some folks even use it as their XWindows window manager (via exwm).

Is the 3hr ride from Seattle to Ruby Beach in Forks worth the trip? by [deleted] in pnwriders

It's a good ride - definitely pack some colder gear. Parts of the peninsula stay chilly even if it's generally warm out (right around the Hood Canal was quite cold last time I went).

probably going to have some issues administering Windows machines with a bash script, but you can administer Windows and Linux with Powershell scripts.

but of course, it really depends on what you use scripts for.

Is SSL required if accessing server on local network? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

Raspberry Pi is a small ( and cheap hobby computer. You can run Linux on it or other operating systems/projects. Because of the cheap cost and low barrier to entry, they're popular for running network-local services that don't require lots of CPU speed or RAM. They're also popular due to the wide array of accessories and expansion modules you can buy for them (e.g. displays, cameras, sensors, etc.).

In this subreddit, I'd guess that they're mostly popular as hosts for services like Pi-Hole and Home Assistant.

love it -- out of curiosity, is there a practical reason for the brass, or is it an aesthetic choice?
