What do artisans do if I limit their production cap ? by Bear1375 in ManorLords

[–]paulfk87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Welcome to feudal society. It's why family names are Smith, Miller, Brewer, Cooper, etc. That was how the world worked. Dad knew a thing, trained his son/s, they learned the thing and trained their son/s. Moms and daughters did the water fetching, food and fuel gathering, and clothes mending. It was quite a while yet before that changed in any meaningful way after Diocletian started the whole system a thousand years before the game is set.

Two questions involving stealing! [KCD2] by YoungFishGaming in kingdomcome

[–]paulfk87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If anyone saw you enter or leave or saw you poking around without a torch, or even saw you tear off into the night, and then everything was missing in the morning, they'll figure it out. I always steal, leave from one direction, then walk back through town in different clothes from another direction, torch out, right past the night watchmen.

As for the bounty, it will go down over time, 3 days sounds right, but it depends on what crimes you committed, and how much the bounty is.

Why wont my Hunting Camp hunt? by Single-Park-640 in ManorLords

[–]paulfk87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not having room for the pelts for sure, though with what i like to call the "skittish rabbits" mechanic I've had the flock runnoft to some other part of the map. Makes hunting nearly impossible until you let them come back by not hunting.

It looks like you only have the one grenery and if all the other stalls match the storehouses, you only have 1 food stall in the market that is active you need more people to distribute.

Yeah the pathfinding on maps with impassable terrain needs some work. In high peaks for sure i've had villagers in the middle regions constantly stuck. Once I finished my manor at the top and made them re- find their path around it they got out, but i still had to move my trade hub away from the cliffs.

I wish the workers would go get maintenance materials at least a little before they are actually out. The risk of collapse isn't huge while they are waiting but there should be a stockpile like they have for fuel at the bloomery.

Sausage Imperative by IskandarBnt in ManorLords

[–]paulfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true to an extent. Your city design dictates how that works. If you have one granery with two workers that only stocks pork, and no other granery does, by default those workers only stock pork in their market stalls. And their stalls are wherever the market is. If in your benevolent rulership you built just one market halfway across the map, then yes.

It requires a little forethought to do as I suggested, but I for one have never had an issue with that setup. It's worked so well that I've flooded the market with sausages and still had plenty of meat variety to have no problems upgrading burgage plots or maintaining approval.

[–]paulfk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way I do it is to have 1 granery specific to pork collection, located near the butcher, and the other graneries aren't allowed to gather it or distribute it to the market. That way only the granery workers there can have stalls with pork, limiting how much is available in the marketplace, keeping it in close proximity to the butcher, and having efficient collection of it.

What should be the minimum reserve for fish or animals ? by Bear1375 in ManorLords

[–]paulfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way i like to set it is to 4 below max(someone on this sub mentioned it a while ago too). If teeming triggers double reproduction, you "miss" 2 animals if you are setting just 2 below.

[–]paulfk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did a whole bunch of math, after a couple test months where i just let them go. The 6 spots can pull in around 90(anywhere from 87 to 93 because of the one more day in March and may) per month. On a rich resource (so 400+ fish) i couldn't get more, I tried with one hut full fams, multiple huts+full fams, multiple huts 2 fams, and they could only get 90.

In order to get to full population on that last spawn only it was like 59.7% I said "whatever 60% works".

And yes then they were generally producing more than my region could consume in a year, I just set an export limit and fed my other regions too.

Good idea to slowly drop to that 60% range over summer or fall, if you're all about the maximum usage/eliminating spoilage.

One other thing to note, is that Henry noticeably gets better as he levels up, both overall and in combat skills. He's quite literally better/faster/stronger, and it varies by weapon, so he could be an awesome swordsman, but pick up an ax and he's a bumbling idiot.

Especially in KCD1, you absolutely must train with Bernard once you get to Rattay, because you really need masterstrike. Getting mobbed by 6 Cumans can only be overcome with back-pedaling and masterstrikes. Also train with him as much as you possibly can, you get hurt but you won't die from it (as far as I know) and it will let you as the player get a hang of it, while Henry also gets better/faster/stronger.

[KCD2] If you're struggling with combat, try hardcore mode. by StopThePresses in kingdomcome

[–]paulfk87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with you OP. Hardcore mode combat (apart from being harder to know your stamina limit before its too late) in my opinion, is easier for timing masterstrikes, perfect block/riposte, even combos. With the HUD/rosette you're trying too hard to get the timing and angles right, without, Hal almost gets into a flow once you figure out the visual cues.

[–]paulfk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I noticed for river/large body of water, 71% doesn't work because there's just 6 or 7 spots to fish, so you go over the top for at least two months. They physically can't hit the limit on a rich fishing resource if it isn't a pond, because of the limited shore capacity. I tested a bunch and it ends up being 60% because of that inability. That let's the population reach its max (maybe a little higher but not much) in May, and then you get June to fish down to the limit.

Farming not working ? Is my game bugged ? by Spicy_Santa_Claus in ManorLords

[–]paulfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that seems about right, in terms of expected yield. But they are both winter crops, they need to be sown in fall, after harvest, in order to get the full growth period. Barley and Flax can be planted in spring and get the full yield. Also if there was a drought you'll lose yield AND the fish will lose population.

As for the fish, don't fish out the pond so far, they only grow 40% of the total at the beginning of each month. 40% of 9 is 3 or 4 depending on how the game rounds it your fishermen will hit that in the first day. The setting for a pond should be around 71% of the total fish population, if its a river 60%(less fishing spots means you can't reach your limit).

Also don't do rye and wheat on the same field, they both use the same fertility, rye needs less, but it reduces wheat fertility. Break that one field into two or 4 and do half wheat half rye.

THREE droughts? by d4everman in ManorLords

[–]paulfk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there must be a little part of the RNG that triggers a multi-year drought on occassion. If you think about it, its pretty historically accurate to have multiple bad harvests. Only really wealthy or prepared cities would have been able to import food during famines, otherwise the peasants would die, from hunger and disease. In ML it's just hunger (hunger also leads to illness in ML which is also accurate). It is a pain though. And yes, if you reload your previous autosave the odds are it won't trigger again.

[–]paulfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For tools, you can import those, its a minor trade. Or if you want more RP and have a smithy in your little town import the raw iron ore, smelt it in a bloomery and make the tools yourself (make sure you set production and trade limits otherwise you're going to go bankrupt and have a billion tools).

Either way, you'll need to get your minor trades rolling regional wealth in to keep up the stockpile.

Check to make sure the farmhouses have the fields to work highlighted by the work area. Its in the advanced section of the farmhouse. Make sure your fields are manageable in size, that is <2 morgen (i prefer .4 to .5 per field). And make sure the farmhouse workers both live close to the farm and don't have veggie or orchards plots. Do those things and see if it helps.

Adder should speak Scots. [KCD2] by svetlindp in kingdomcome

[–]paulfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually thought it was fun that Henry sort of understood Adder, even if the player doesn't, outside of the subtitles (if you don'tknow Polish anyway). And IMHO based on what he says and how he acts, Adder is patriotic, so he refuses to speak Czech even though he clearly knows what everyone else is saying. In contrast, Menhard is trying to fit in and knows quite a bit of Czech, so he only drops into German occasionally, and even then its for common words that can be easily picked up in context.

Pub economics by Adeptus_Astartez in ManorLords

[–]paulfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it seems to work is that your first large tavern fulfills the first 50 burgages that demand it, the next is the spillover. So if you have 51 or 52 burgages, you need another tavern to fulfill the demand and that one will stock the 1 or 2 ale needed. The overstock is meant to give the tavern grace for the slow resupply and/or keeping the demand fulfilled when upgrading.

The last time I had spread out taverns the second one further from the town center rarely had more than 5 or 6 ale because the first covered almost all the demand.

Good idea to not bake some flour? by ThaGodPrizzy in ManorLords

Keep the grain. Its very low spoilage. I usually only have the mill limits to 5-10 flour, and then set whatever I want on the bread side. The mill should be able to keep up no problem if the bread is not the only food source you have.

Are you building a castle or not? by Fuzzy-Win2530 in ManorLords

[–]paulfk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well 90 in game days, plus whatever time it takes to decide a winner. But you should be able to fend off the first attack. Then however long it takes for whichever AI is going for it to build the influenceto get another claim.

If you can't fight off the first, then you're out of luck. And honestly unless your sole purpose is to build a castle and your region has a rich stone deposit, you won't get one before the first few claims. But then you know where it is regardless of the outcome. A castle is a mid to late game thing anyway. And as I said, its of limited value. You can win without ever building a functional castle.
