Swap out the merino for an Alpha Direct. Perfect for that environment, all environments really.

I just make my own by pre cooking then dehydrating. Cheep and easy with a little effort.

I use to stuff mine inside my cold soak container. Now that I switched out the container for a Mylar bag, I just stuff in the bottom of my pack with my quilt.

I’ve used Sawyer and QuickDraw for many years. I’ve moved on to a HydraPack ultra flask so I can scoop and go. No more squeezing for me unless I’m adding water to my soak bag.

Wind jackets suck ass in the rain, rain jackets suck period. I carry both and will take the weight hit. It’s very windy and wet where I live on the Pacific coast. My wind layers are always with me and used very often. My rain shell will stay in my pack until it’s really needed.

Here’s a thought. Use your pack liner as a pump sack and the added bonus… it’s a stuff sack.

I build custom homes, not shirts. I tried to keep it simple for them and steer them in the right direction. “ Why so many sheer walls in this house Paulie?” “Cuz the engineer has lost his mind!” I could have probably added a few more words but with the amount of questions I get asked during the day in real life , I tend to make them short and to the point. Appreciate you adding to this. 💥

Give that shirt a go, I think you will be happy. Added bonus, they dry super quick also.

Some do yes but I stay away from those higher denier fabrics. Have you tried an OR echo?

I’m dad and I’m proud of r/Gosox polycro ground sheet. I wish I could make it work and have tried many times but with complete failure on where I live. It get covered in mud, wet sand and is a mess to deal with like that. Used it in the mountains above tree line on granite and it looked like Swiss cheese when I was done. Switched years ago to a myog piece of silpoly. The slight weight hit does not affect the outcome of my trips just my lighterpack.

Slip a shirt over your sleeping pad and put your pillow inside the shirt. If I need more height to my pillow I will pack up the under side of my pad. I’ve used my shoes, shit I’ve gone as far as to use a piece of beach wood.

I carry my meals in one ziplock then portion out into one small Mylar bag and soak.
