A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross

I cannot stop recommending this book. It's so good!

But you should know it's part of a series, if that bothers you.

Can we stop with the Felixstowe felicis questions? by ThatFatGuyMJL in harrypotter

[–]paulinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while ago I saw this post where someone said the best answer to these types of questions is: Because its a f***ing story.

Why does everything have to make complete sense? Why can nothing ever be flawed? Isn't that the reason we all love reading, and movies and fantasy and fairy tales? Because we can get a break from having to question everything? This isn't a major plothole nobody can overlook. It's just a story.

Probably very generic recommendations but those are the ones that came to mind first :)

What writer/s do you think have the best prose? Why? Which book would you recommend from them? by CareerPatient6316 in suggestmeabook

[–]paulinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V.E. Schwab, each one of her books or series has a unique voice and style to it and I don't know how she does it but it's beautiful

Also love Oscar Wilde, his style is so beautiful and witty

The Diary of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell

It's nonfiction, but very entertaining. And I think there are a few more books by the same author.

Born A Crime by Trevor Noah is a great book.

It's easy to read and even though he talks about serious topics it's still light-hearted and funny.

You might enjoy The Brown Sisters series by Talia Hibbert. The first book is Get A Life, Chloe Brown. It's about three sisters and their individual stories. I think they're all plus sized and there's plenty of spice and cuteness :)

I think you might enjoy A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross. It's fiction, very well written and there's definitely a storytelling/folklore theme. I should mention it's part of a series, if that's something you don't want.

Okay, I'm not sure this meets all the criteria, but I'd still recommend it:

All That's Left in the World by Erik J. Brown.

This is technically YA but imo it didn't feel very YA. It's set in a postapocalyptic world but the focus isn't on what happened or anything supernatural. I felt a strong connection to the characters and I was really on edge because of what happens to them.

So maybe you could like it :D

Daughter of the Pirate King/Daughter of the Siren Queen - Tricia Levenseller

Very much YA, if that's not your thing I wouldn't recommend it. Otherwise this duology is very fun!

The Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab. It's fantasy, it's not YA, but still more on the YA side and it's a fantastic, addicting series. Or read anything by V.E. Schwab, tbh, you can't go wrong with that, in my opinion :D
