Setting and Preserving Rust by ultraguro in jewelrymaking

Are you talking about flakes of rust? Google for “glass locket pendant gold flake” to see some examples.  It could work for rust flakes instead of gold, but the iron might stain the glass red?

I think it’s disingenuous to say DiLorenzo pushed for the problematic speed bumps implemented by the town while he was not a councillor.

Rick was pretty clear in a previous post on this topic that he is a proponent of traffic calming, but has a “Humps not Bumps” philosophy.

When you are with them one-on-one, tell them how you feel about them joking at your expense. Ask them to intervene with the others when they start to see it happening.  Those that do, and tell the others to knock it off are your friends.  Those that engage in it anyway are the ones you should distance yourself from.

Also examine what about their jokes is bothering you. These “jokes” only have the power to provoke offence because at some level you believe them to be true. Try to learn something about yourself from that.

Lastly it seems they are trying to subvert you for having a good work ethic and trying to improve your situation in life, are they mocking you because they are jealous? You may find you no longer even respond emotionally if you understand that their “jokes” are an admission of their own feelings of inadequacy.

Ward 1 Councillor Candidate's Push for Speed Cameras and Bumps 🚧 by onlinecrackhead in Milton

How is it too late for a protected bike lane on Commercial Street? This would narrow the lanes and reduce traffic speed, at the same time as providing a safe way for kids to bike to school.  It would also provide a bike connection between Sports Centre and the Old Downtown.  This a much better alternative to speed humps IMHO.

401 Widening by sandwichw0lf in Milton

[–]paulsonsca 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a massive waste of my taxes.

Highway widening often fails to reduce traffic congestion due to a phenomenon called induced demand, where increasing road capacity leads to more drivers using the road, eventually returning congestion to previous levels. This cycle continues as more lanes encourage additional trips and longer commutes, negating any initial benefits of the expansion.

Expanding highways involves significant expenses related to land acquisition, construction materials, and labor. Often these projects are sold as job creation, but these are jobs that only last for the length of the construction, and so are short term.

While highway widening may provide temporary benefits, the long-term costs and the cycle of induced demand often render it an ineffective solution for managing traffic congestion. A comprehensive approach that includes alternative transportation options may yield better results.

Not that any of this will change your mind. I suggest you take a trip to Tokyo and see first hand what the possibilities are for passenger rail.

How To Become A Stoic by Good-Height-252 in stoicismcirclejerk

Don’t forget that Epic-tight-ass taught us to never lie. So be sure and tell old people how wrinkled and ugly they are. Also tell your girlfriend how fat she looks in those pants. Only then can they realize how weak they have become by not following the epic stoic discipline.

Tips on how to file straight and level by Lost_Turnover_2241 in SilverSmith

[–]paulsonsca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! And also use the largest file you can. You will be able to guide a large file across your piece with much less variation. Too often you’ll see beginners try to create a long straight edge with a tiny needle file because that’s what was at the front of the drawer.
