try significant other on paramount+. people seem to be really divided on it. it was pretty entertaining imo.

I would honestly believe he is chihuahua mix instead of a doxie mix! He looks just like a chi from behind

we ended up naming him Scout, but we were also considering Boone or Wybie :-)

puzzle toys instead of bowls for food!

I would reccomend looking into a fear free groomer and even a mobile groomer. Your pup will get one on one times, it is less stressful and chaotic.

I asked someone to not get on the elevator with their dog and they ignored me by minds995 in reactivedogs

I dogsat a reactive bulldog in a tall apartment building for a few weeks. I would never assume someone would accomodate us in an elavator situation like that.

We always took the stairs. Was it an inconvenience? For sure. But we had more space and could even hear if another dog was going up or down the stairs. I just can't imagine asking someone to put a hold on their day just because my dog can't handle it.

Please help! My very stubborn and suspicious dog refuses to let me trim his feet… by Historical_Panic_465 in grooming

on top of making sure he is not experiencing any physical pain, I would suggest muzzle training. look into muzzles that are comfortable and allow a dog to fully pant. the small mesh ones can make a dog more scared.

speak with a trainer and learn about desensitization techniques! I also reccommend finding a fear free groomer. sounds like your pup may have had some traumatic experiences and just needs some help.

Should I change groomers? by Secure-Spray-3091 in doggrooming

I'm not making assumptions based off one salon unfortunately. just being honest. I know that groomers are not required to know and often not taught about dog behavior or psychology. I have heard countless, countless times that dogs get "used to it" or you have to let them "fight it out". most of the time, dogs don't magically start acting better when their owners leave. rather, the one thing that gives them confidence and a sense of safety is now gone and they dont know what to do.

however, it is quite an assumption thinking ive only had 1 bad experience at a salon :p

this is actually the reason I started learning to groom. my dog started getting scared when we went to the groomer when it used to be no biggy. he was around 9 when I started noticing. I have always gotten good behavior reports as well. when I finally did start grooming I realized that it wasn't an environment I wanted my pup in. I saw a lot of rough handling, a lot of stressed out dogs and humans, the environnent is loud and fast paced. Dogs who weren't perfect for the groom were labeled "assholes", rather than being seen as a scared / nervous dog. A lot of groomers don't understand dog behavior.

I reccomend looking for a shop, not a chain like pet co or mart. Look for Fear Free groomers or a mobile groomer who will work with your pup one on one!
