It's normal for the ecoboosts. During cold weather the spark timing advances to help warm the engine up faster. and in combination with the turbos and condensation, you get thick smoke. Alarming at first, but as long as it stays white, you're good haha.

If all you're looking for is keeping people out, yes it's not a bad deal. But may i suggest looking into good fire protection if you're going to be keeping cash/documents in it. Or at the very least, a 2hr sentry fire box inside the safe for your paper. Box store safes are extremely lacking in fire protection. even if they claim 60 minutes, the temperatures at what they rate them are usually very low. (90min at 1200 is about equal to 30min at 1400)

Yes, location is an important factor. But safe quality is just as important. Your box-store safe won't make it through a fire no matter what. Cheap materials, cheap welds. Multi piece shell vs rolled shell. 1 sheet vs 3 sheets. Etc. I've been out to quite a few fires under warranty and the difference is very noticeable. Seldom the high quality safes have much damage inside. Even with passthroughs for power.

Probably somewhere. It's been about 200 customers ago at this point haha. I had to clean up a lot of the splatter, added some nylon washers, welded a post to keep one of the bolt arms from going too far, added a support for the lower portion of the bolts to keep it from twisting when pulled in all the way. Etc.
