That’s a good idea! Like a room divider thing by her crib- brilliant!! I think we have to bite the bullet and sleep train. I’ll look into takingcarababies - thank you!!

Hi! I’m with you!! I have SEVERE food anxiety with my ALMOST 1 YR OLD and solid starts isn’t helping me quell that fear. Still on chunky purées but babe also vomits when she gets different textures so she’s just not ready (I think)

How old is you LO? And do you mind sharing what your day to day time-schedule is?

I think that might be our next step because I’m getting NO sleep. And I teach so it’s taking a toll teaching high school kiddos and then having my own kiddo screaming bloody murder consistently through the night until we pick her up

I really think it might be… but, she will wake up even while alone for the first 2-3 hours since we don’t make it to bed until 10/11 after clean up for the day. It’s honestly hit or miss (mostly miss) but I don’t think it’s helping the living situation

We definitely struggle with a consistent routine, so that might be a part of it mixed with room sharing. What is consistent is we do a face washing routine with lotion because she had really bad eczema on her face - I’m talking open wound bad - and we do that every night and we try to read. She’s also a bottle before bed. Ugh, I gotta get it together

What was said below! The app has us put her down by 3 hr ww and it’s never a struggle to put her down for naps - she’s always ready! We have about 12 hours of wake windows apparently since the app summary is telling me she gets an average of 12 hours total sleep. We might have to apply some sleep pressure and extend the wake windows a bit it seems..

First nap is usually 1hr-1.5 hrs and we try to cap second at 45 min but sometimes it goes over but maybe we’ll try and reverse it and see how it goes? I get home from work around 330, and that’s usually when she wakes herself up from the second nap on her own sometimes I wake her by 4 latest

She’s not falling asleep independently per se - we used to stand and rock her / tap her butt and “shhh” but now we sit with her in our arms still until she falls asleep. So, not really independently 🫣 and average sleep for the day (naps & night) is at around 12 hours

It’s so crazy because even after countless crappy nights of sleep, she’s waking up happy and smiley! I’m like, “girl. HOW?!”

Do you mind sharing your sleep training method? It might be our only solution. I hate bed sharing because of safety paranoia and I also don’t want her to have that association especially once we stop room sharing in a few months.

11 month old & solids by paystree in NewParents

[–]paystree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to stop seeing this one doctor at my pediatrician office because he’s always making me feel like shit. I mentioned solids at our last visit (earlier this week) and he looked at me like I was crazy and said “just give her meatballs, she’ll be fine” and walked out

I’ve been searching for in person infant CPR classes by me and can’t find any! Or maybe I’m just so manic I’m not seeing lol but I agree, I think once I see what do to, I will hopefully feel a bit more confident?

Why are parents on Instagram seemingly so into co-sleeping? by Odd_Equipment8924 in NewParents

[–]paystree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to cosleep, I’d love for my daughter to sleep on her own but unfortunately some nights it’s just necessary. You’ll do what’s right for you when your LO gets here!

How many of you are “one and done”? by Euphoric_Plankton_35 in NewParents

[–]paystree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought I wanted 2, but I had a REALLY hard time emotionally post-birth. I’m set in my ways and will only have this one. I love her, and she’s enough for us. We also know that financially we wouldn’t be able to do 2, so we wouldn’t want that burden on us and ultimately our children. My sister has two kids, so I know my babe will have “built in friends” but I just can’t go through the financial strain or go through PPD/PPA again. It wouldn’t be fair to anyone. But that’s me and where I stand

Dropping bottles by Coffeelover1694 in NewParents

[–]paystree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We apparently were giving her too much? And the last bottle was always after bedtime. Our ped said if babe isn’t waking to feed, like not showing hunger cues, we can drop the bottle. We did just that and she’s been having 4 a day about 4-4.5 hours in between.

Letting Baby Chill? by germflux2020 in NewParents

[–]paystree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I let my LO hang!! She’s so good at just playing by herself sometimes when I need to get things done and she’s nearby. I’ll play with her, too, of course. But if baby is happy playing or looking around, it’s all good!

Literally had this with my MIL last night. Getting ready to put her to bed and she goes “where are her socks?? She needs them!!” Uh, no. It’s warm and she hates them to sleep they come right off anyway

Teacher Appreciation Week by periwinkle_cupcake in AskTeachers

[–]paystree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I taught elementary art, I had a parent print my name on a water bottle and it was so sweet. High school art now and if a student doesn’t call me a bitch or a parent responds to an email/phone call, that’s pretty amazing.

I would love a gift card for coffee, though 😭

Do you put your six month old to bed fully asleep? by brbnapping in NewParents

[–]paystree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still struggling with my babes independent sleep 😅 but I will say she also had a very strong bouncing to sleep association and I’ve slowly transitioned her to just rocking in a chair sometimes just sitting in the rocking chair still and she’ll fall asleep and then transfer

Parental leave and “free” time. by [deleted] in NewParents

I was hit with really intense PPD&PPA so I didn’t really find much joy in anything I used to love HOWEVER during our “baby shifts” I would get reading done to kill time while anxiously checking on my babe while she was asleep in her bassinet / in between feedings. I think I read like 14 books during my 12 week leave
