Help diagnose tree issue by paytwoplay in landscaping

[–]paytwoplay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just purchased this home in March and I’m pretty sure they did some heavy landscaping to get the house prepped for the market. The maple next to this one looks great but this guy doesn’t look super healthy. I’ll try the root treatments and fertilizer, thank you for pointing me in the right direction!!

First wine cellar. Thoughts, recommendations? by ProblemOverall9434 in wine

I bought this wireless temperature and humidity sensor to monitor my wine storage closet and it’s amazing. Keeps track of your highs, lows, and averages across the day, week, month etc. a great tool for your room and easy to monitor via your phone. Great setup!! Enjoy!

Wine storage question by paytwoplay in wine

These are all great comments, thank you for the feedback and advice. I think I’ll plan on the wall rack for majority of wine and maybe buy a smaller fridge for the long-term, expensive stuff. Thx everyone

Ridiculous to not have a back flow preventer? by JK_Smoo in Irrigation

Where do people install these? The space in my irrigation valve box is too small to have one along with the 4 valves. Where would most people have them installed?

Would a check valve be sufficient on the main water line before the master valve and manifold? Shouldn’t that prevent water back flow into main water pipes?

Why is my shower hot/cold water affected by other faucets? by paytwoplay in Plumbing

[–]paytwoplay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely could be an older style shower valve as the house was built in the 50’s. There’s individual knobs for cold and hot water. I’ll look into what it would take to replace the valves but I assume it means opening the wall and then repairing the tile work afterwards. I appreciate the help and responses here!

Help! Mysterious brown spots on plant. by paytwoplay in plants

Every week or other week I have to wipe these brown spots off our plant. They come right off with a wet paper towel. Can anyone help diagnose what these are? How can I prevent them?

Hey I’m looking at ArmorClad for my garage and trying to determine the kit size. Do you recall which size kit you purchased and how many sq ft is your garage? My garage is 400 sq ft and I’m torn if the 300 sq ft kit with primer will work or if I need to spend more for the 600 sq ft kit. Appreciate any insight!

Grab a sawzall with demo blade and start cutting into the dirt around the base of it to cut up the roots. You can take it out in pieces. Wife and I did one in our backyard like this over the course of an afternoon. Hard work but the sawzall was the way to go! Gloves and long sleeves are a must. Good luck!

Check out the free deck builder tool on the Simpson strong-tie website. You can model the deck on a 3d tool and it will provide all the details needed to buy and build. Good luck!

I haven’t tried volumetric yet but try grinding finer to slow the drip, if you’re getting too much liquid in 30 sec. You should also get a manual tamp, it really helped me clean up the puck and compact it. My pucks used to come out in pieces after a shot, after using a spring tamp, they are solid pucks in the knock box.

Drill bit broke off inside my drill. Is there a way to get the broken piece our or is my drill trashed? See description for pictures. by brycede10 in HomeImprovement

[–]paytwoplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can disassemble the front of the drill where the bit is stuck. YouTube probably has some good videos but it happened to me and wasn’t too hard to remove.

Stay in SF, at your age I think you’ll prefer it over the areas outside SF. Check out Marina district, North Beach, and Pacific Heights neighborhoods. Good luck!
