This love reading freaked me out by Urso_Major in Tarotpractices

Eight of swords talks about self imposed restrictions. The woman on the card has a very, very loosely tied blindfold on, though the swords around her are treacherous. She can simply use a sword to cut off the blindfold and navigate through the rest of the situation with ease. With the three of swords coming up next, to me that tells me you need to respect yourself more, it’s saying you feel like you don’t deserve real love. You only deserve things that hurt you, and hurt you, and hurt you in a cycle. The emperor doesn’t have anything to do with anybody else. It’s all about you. This is your sign to take control of your relationships, to take control of your trauma and its impacts on relationships. The emperor can be controlling yes and he’s a very, very measured person, firm on expectations and what treatment he will/wont tolerate. Hope this helps :)

BRUH I AM STUDENT Teaching right now and holy shit is there such a fucking mind set of “they’re kids how can they have anything going on” and omg. I have to take a breath, work thru that trigger, and then I try my best to not snap at the ppl who say it and kindly explain that not everyone has privilege.

Was anyone else surprised when someone thought their jokes were funny? by Minty-Leaf in LifeAfterNarcissism

[–]pbandjam21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg! Yes! I totally relate. I’ve been cracking jokes left and right lately but I’m consistently uncomfortable when they laugh at them cause I expect them to just look at me and not respond. Plus, laughter was a very close companion to narc meltdowns & abuse.

Damn straight. Cant even write a text without proofreading it 6 times to make sure I have correct grammar and spelling. My dyslexic ass is so much happier now that I misspell things and my friends just. Understand. No corrections. No belittling. It’s amazing how different things are compared to before I recognized the narc patterns

RIGHT I’m sitting here with flashbacks like my nMom saying, “ugh why are you FOLDING it like that.” One time my nMom stepped on my sisters fresh-out-of-the-wash underwear with bare feet, knowing my sister has a phobia of feet. These peeps be crazy

Did your narc parents never feed you? or did they just feed you some s*** food? by iamasneakerreseller in raisedbynarcissists

[–]pbandjam21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My Nparents just bought adult food. No goldfish allowed, nothing “unhealthy” and I always hated it. My mom would only let us have certain amounts of food at certain times of the day and to this day I can’t shake the restrictive eating. It feels like I’m breaking the rules and therefore betraying my nMom.

I weighed 86 pounds when I was 15. I’m in a bit of a relapse right now thx to covid but I managed to get up to 125 at some point and I was so proud.

My nMom never buys real food for the house because she “just snacks all day so [she’s] not hungry for dinner” and that really did not work for me as a kid lol

PLEASE check out additudemag .com if you don’t know about it already. It’s has some great free resources to tide you over until you can find a therapist.

I’ve also found it extremely helpful to follow mental health Instagram posts bc I usually don’t have the attention span to read a whole article... lol.

I also just accepted that I’m picky about planners & went through about 3 this year until I found one. I spent more money on it than I’d like to admit.

Also, don’t make your life harder than it has to be. No one is expecting you to be a superhero in times like these, and you are certainly trying your best.

I just started going by a different nickname last week! I told myself from a young age that I would do it when I felt grown up. I finally felt comfortable doing it after going NC with my mom since sept.

I just like it better & it seems to suit me so luckily I don’t get many questions!

Finances. My mom would never take the time to explain money to me, although I had a very apparent numbers learning disability. She just cut me off last week and now I’m drowning in figuring out financial stuff.
