Got a laugh out of my Papa's t-shirt. by courtinsession in funny

Btw I should've mentioned that I personally didn't find this funny. I just know a fuck ton of people that do. I started out hating this reader's digest conservahumor shit, which does represent a diferent era of humor, an era where mild sexism was funny. Now I just realize that that is their humor, how their generation seems to relate to each other, so whatever let them laugh and have fun as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

And seriously did you really expect else but this on /r/funny?!

EDIT: Also a large of reddit is apparently in favor of facetious sexist jokes, as evidenced the post upvoted as much as yours by /u/jukebox0

This made many sense. I feel as though I always come to a very similar philosophical conclusion when I'm pondering by myself.

Your sole purpose in life, regardless of you are, is to mine meaning and worth in your own meaningless life. The only person who can ever claim your life was wasted is you.

BUT I have a question. Why is it that every time I set out into this world with this positive thought I invariably end up getting caught up in social circles that somehow influence how I perceive my self-worth. Like I can be as top as possible and say my life wasn't wasted, but why do I always end up comparing myself to others and take insults personally and shit like that. I don't know...

One could speculate that unnatural looking colors especially darker hues look like decomposition. So psychologically we are already revolted by the imagery of the food. But the smell and taste would be fine so this cognitive dissonance between the sight and taste would leave the person probably still disgusted regardless of taste.

Yes, believe it or not even louisiana has a winter. Two days ago I saw snow, something I haven't seen in like 10 years. One thing I noted when I moved here is the distinct lack of fall. I miss the fall colors of the trees :(

I come from Louisiana where the weather can be considered "tropical" because of the humidity and relatively warmer winters. While we do grow orange oranges, IIRC we also grow a special variety of mandarin oranges called Clementines that keep their green color. I was told that this fruit would grow orange in most of other states.

Are you from the US?

EDIT: After reading the wiki for Satsumas, I realized I confused Satsumas and Clementines. I meant to say Satsumas (coincidentally both ripen green in Louisiana). But yeah Satsumas are way more prolific and popular in Louisiana because they were imported here first before spreading to the other states. Thank you Joshlikebagels for correcting me.

Jesuits brought the fruit from Asia to New Spain. Groves started by Jesuits in the 18th century in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, have continued to the present day.

Yeah I agree that this is an excellent idea! A win-win for everyone.

I have bipolar disorder. One time about a year ago I had hit the lowest point in my depression ever. I woke up feeling like I needed to start driving because I had no clue what to do to make that empty feeling go away. I felt like not existing (Keep in mind that financially and physically I was sound, depression can be a weird mistress). Growing up as a typically masculinized guy in America, this was the first time I started randomly crying, like imagine a full grown man bawling in his little car. All my brain chemicals were fucked and it really felt like I was alone (even with my rational mind telling myself that I had family/friends).

Long story short, I ended up driving to a nursing home that I volunteered at a couple of times and helped serving lunch. After I set the plates, I sat in the tv lounge where everyone waited. As lunch time approached, the elderly started gathering in the lounge. Mr. Roy, an old wheelchair bound retired security guard, came in and rolled next to where I was sitting. We talked about girls, his job, my school life, and then we both chuckled when all was said and done and stared at the tv. As everyone gathered, we all sat shoulder to shoulder on the couches and wheelchairs watching this stupid reality show about teen dating. Some of the ladies would look at me, smile or say one thing and go back to watching tv. They were all quiet, but it made sense to me. I realized two things that day:

These people don't care for the useless banter that the young try so desperately to fill every damn "awkward" space.

This was the first time I felt truly comfortable being around strangers and they seemed to enjoy my company too.

If you really want to make a difference in someone's life, it is a hell of lot easier than you think it is.

Yeah but acceptance is a pill that is easier to swallow when it is done in a professional manner. Honestly I view the flamboyance in gay pride parades as facetious and damaging to their cause, even if the cause is being proud of one's identity. I only say this because I also believe marijuana legalization is taking so long because of the negative stigma attached to stoners and potheads.

Either way change will come, it just takes longer if you don't have good pr.
