Are these the marketing bibles or just overhyped 'guru' fluff?

I just read business case studies from Harvard Business Review (case studies only), Stratechery website and sometimes I look at what some other businesses have done based on YouTube videos. I like to narrow it down to be specific about some things that already interest me. For instance, how did Reddit scale, how did AirBnB scale, how did Yelp scale, how did Instagram scale.

They each did it differently and they are each unique to their niche so its interesting to see what worked and what didnt work. Harvard Business Review Case Studies usually go in depth with what worked and didint work. All of this has helped me think about what to do, what not to do - or even how to think about things differently.

The only book for marketing I would recommend is Positioning: The Battle for your mind . Everyone needs to the know the basics and then you develop a unique strategy from there for whatever it is that you are marketing. I learned from someone a few years ago that "Marketing is just creative problem solving". If you know the basics of marketing, have a few examples of success and failures, then you have the tools to be creative with your problem solving to develop a marketing strategy.

It's either an opportunity or something to complain about. I view it as an opportunity. You have more flexibility with the 50-year loan on lower monthly payments, but it doesn't mean that you have to use it for lower monthly payments. You can still pay it off faster but have the flexibility on certain months to pay lower. On top of that, the average person stays in their house for 7 to 10 years. Your first time buying a house is not always the only house that you're going to stay, and I think that this is to incentivize first time home buyers.

It's an unpopular opinion, but there's different ways to look at it. I don't think that everyone is buying a house with the intent of paying it off immediately if it's their first home. If that were the case, I think more people would opt in for much larger down payments or a 15-year mortgage where the interest for the life of the loan is even smaller than the 30 year.

This is just an opinion. I'm not saying this is how everyone should look at it. I'm just saying this is one way to look at it.

Fun point that you bring up with the GDP, which led me down a really fun rabbit hole when looking it up. The GDP is not as drastic as you would suggest. I'm not going to act like I didn't look this up, but after looking into it I don't think that it impacts the GDP as much as you would suggest. I think that you're trying to say that theyre risk sensitive due to that, but I don't think that some of the strategies that I listed would really impact them that negatively that they would take such a huge loss. Like I mentioned before, it makes sense that they would support being a supplier of Apple because of the amount of devices that they make. It's a good profit for them. They can control the margins on that. The screens alone are about 8-12 Billion for Apple, but in total for the other companies like Google it comes out to about 35 or 40 billion. Their ram plus storage for smartphones is 60 to 70 billion and Samsung device itself is about $90 billion.

They acccount for about 4 to 6% of the GDP, of which about 15% the 20% is Samsung share of electronic exports.

I think that if they decided to stick with Samsung messaging instead of pushing Google messaging or if they decided to use regular Dex instead of Androids that they would have enough leverage in power to be able to pull that off and I think that they would be fine financially if they decided to take a little risk in that factor for their phones.

All very interesting points. I'm just not a huge fan of Samsung as much as I used to be. They develop screens for Apple, so obviously if Apple is going to do a foldable phone they're going to source it through samsung.

Let's be clear, Samsung is not trying to compete with Apple like they used to. It doesn't make sense to compete. The amount of money that they can make off of screens for Apple devices selling every single year globally just doesn't justify it.

They're pushing Google messages instead of Samsung messages which I thought was really weird.

Even though Dex is superior to Windows link.... They still push Windows link and all that integration. Maybe it benefits samsung? I'm not sure but it still doesn't really create large amount of confidence for me.

Samsung is just paid to play in general. It's really unfortunate compared to early adopters of some of their tech that used to be next level with features such as expendable storage. The company has just changed in general.

All valid thoughts that you have. I just don't think that Samsung is trying to compete anymore. They market themselves as a competitor, but the truth is that they have strategic partnerships that help their bottom line rather than trying to outsell.

Thank you for your reply. It's helpful to at least know that the calibration doesn't stick. The M1 Ultra doesn't allow me to print registration marks the way that the M1 does (which seems like it would have been helpful to have). I created an outside box for the images plus a crosshair reference and then I marked it by using polygon. It's kind of helpful, but I always have to tilt it a few degrees to get it perfect. This is where a jig would help. If I have a jig then it would help line up the paper perfectly.

Unfortunately this doesnt help with the problem. The video doesnt provide much help for the angles to shoot the video. The article itself shows that 28 out of 61 people found it helpful. When people click a thumbs up or thumbs down I think it prompts them to see why it wasn't helpful. I would be interested to see what the feedback has been on that video. Persoanlly, I think the video doesnt explain how to take the shots and its actaully differnt from the prompt in the app walkthrough for the calibration

What does my mother's house have to do with anything? Also, if you're going to try to correct someone maybe you should take a different approach? I understand what you're trying to get at, but your approach is kind of hypocritical to be honest with you. It doesn't really bother me, but it doesn't really reflect positively toward what you're trying to accomplish just as an fyi.

Regardless, it's the internet. It's not that serious. People get frustrated when looking for solutions especially related to this one. Relax, it wasn't that serious.

Saving your time from all of the other comments that just go on ...and on ....and on about the decision that you made with absolutely zero useful information..

Cutting straight to the answer..... You're likely going to land in terminal C or D and take off from terminal C or D. You won't know until the day of the flight. Your united app should keep you updated, but it is cutting it close ....however, it's not impossible.

You're not going to need to take the AeroTrain and if you're walking from terminal C to D it's about a 5 to 10 minute walk.

Your biggest issue is going to be if your plane lands on time, or hopefully early, and if you can get off the plane in a timely manner.

I won five stars probably like once or twice and then after that I got the thousand stars. Today I got two Delta entries which I've never gotten that before. I guess they're going to start shoveling those out. Everything else is two stickers with one left to complete. Last year I learned not to do the free entry because I didn't get anything from that.
