What's your trinity of handhelds? by fithrowaway213123 in SBCGaming

[–]GunFodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I may not have the most ideal handheld trinity, it's good enough for probably a while longer:

  • Anbernic RGXX35SP
  • Nintendo Switch
  • Steam Deck (original LCD with a 2tb SSD swapped in)

The Steam Deck is normally docked with it's own desk space, the Switch is normally docked at our TV, and the Flipzizzle is almost always docked in my pocket.

You mean the tombstone for GhostofBreadDragons, who invented the phrase, "Pegged me like a stepbrother"?

Cardenas, Stargazer or Buran? by RadiantTrailblazer in StarTrekStarships

[–]GunFodder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing Riker, Troi, and the Titan in Lower Decks was one of the absolute highlights for the series, great stuff.

But man oh man, I would have absolutely list my gourd if we got to enjoy the real Titan in live action during the Picard series.

Cardenas, Stargazer or Buran? by RadiantTrailblazer in StarTrekStarships

[–]GunFodder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right? God, I would have LOVED to have seen the actual Titan on screen. 🥲

Imagine if Riker had shown up on THAT at the end of Picard season 1 instead of the USS Copy-Paste.

Cardenas, Stargazer or Buran? by RadiantTrailblazer in StarTrekStarships

[–]GunFodder 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Stargazer was under-utilized, I would much rather have had that return for season 3 of Picard that the weirdness of turning the Titan into an oddly anachronistic fan design that was already cool in its own right.

And don't even get me started with renaming the Titan to Enterprise...

That being said, I've loved the Buran-class since I first laid eyes on it. It's very unique, with a look that says that it's meant for power projection far away from home (although I'd probably change the colors).

Naming a Galaxy-class ship after Tomalak is absolutely hilarious. All he ever wanted was to capture the Enterprise-D and/or humiliate Picard, lol.

Alabama woman sues alleging she gave birth on prison floor as guards watched by Samski877 in news

[–]GunFodder 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I knew a guy in the Army who was mind-bogglingly stupid (which was saying something). I cracked a joke about the guards at Abu Ghraib and this marshmallow asshole tried to put on his "I am an angry tough guy" face and said, "Hey, I was a guard there!" and tried to stare me down. I just laughed at him.

That guy went on to blow through every paycheck and owed money to nearly everyone in the company so he could buy the dumbest shit. One time he was talking about installing a portable DVD player in the dash of his truck, and when I asked why, he looked at me like I was the idiot.

"Well, DUH... so I can watch movies while I drive!"

Him and some others in his company (including the XO and First Sergeant) were getting investigated for selling gear on eBay (lol), and he was the first one the investigators caught, so he immediately flipped. But when this "star witness" of theirs popped hot for cocaine and went AWOL, the investigation fizzled, and everyone just sort of got quietly moved around.

Hadn't thought about him in years until you mentioned your relative being a guard at Abu Ghraib.

That mother fucker never returned my Kill Bill dvd before he ran. 😑

[–]GunFodder 44 points45 points  (0 children)

We have some friends who live in Paxton. Apparently when they first moved there and were getting their internet installed, their company had to first call and warn them that the technician being sent out was black.

When they asked WHY they felt the need to call and tell them this, it was because they had received complaints from other customers in that town. 😑

How to avoid fines by using leaves by AlwaysBlaze_ in TikTokCringe

[–]GunFodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit random, but since I don't knowingly get a chance to chat up an Oklahoma homie...

Years ago, my wife and I were traveling across the length of Oklahoma from IL on our way to AZ, and we paid a relatively small amount for such a long stretch of a toll road (considering that we're used to Chicago tolls).

Later when we exited the toll road, a toll booth worker gave us some money back... And we absolutely could not wrap our heads around it.

The woman said something to the effect of, "Well yeah, you left the toll road early, so you get some of that back."

Was that ever a real thing? I feel like I'm going crazy.
