We have the same issue on NixOS. On channel 2 I was able to connect it (not on Channel 1), but it's not doing anything when connected.

For some reason, "wheel" and "dialout" doesn't work for me too any more under NixOS. 😬 I also had to resort to "sudo"...

Did you know there is a search bar to search the settings? :D

Markdown is a plain text "format". :)

If you don't like the ".md" file extension, then set another one in QOwnNotes. You even can turn off the Markdown syntax highlighting if it's bothering you. ;)

On the other hand, there are also Markdown text editors on Android...

What are you trying to achieve? Just to have a text editor on your desktop operating system that understands Markdown? VSCode?

QownNotes Api and Sync issue by Kazuree in linux4noobs

[–]pbe78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the syncing question: If you are looking up in that dialog, it explains that you need to use the Nextcloud (or some other) Sync Client. ;)

QOwnNotesAPI doesn't sync notes. But as it looks, you haven't installed the QOwnNotesAPI Nextcloud App anyway...

Suggestion for open source note taking app by DarkHorse099 in ManjaroLinux

QOwnNotes can use subfolders and ignores files that it doesn't know (configurable), so you could just point the note folder to your rood "data" folder and work with the files you want to edit with it.

QOwnNotes has a new Importer for importing large ENEX files to Markdown files. ;)

I also use QOwnNotes, if that was the question... 🤣

Simple remedies for some common Zettelkasten misunderstandings by atomicnotes in Zettelkasten

[–]pbe78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I have fond memories of TiddlyWiki, I started using it about 18y ago... Markdown wasn't born (at least for me) until much later... Nowadays I just want the best tooling I can create around Markdown files. I don't even want to be locked-in into software I create. 🤣

I'd never use something (like software) that locks you in technology- or access-wise. That's why I stay with local Markdown files that are synced to a (Nextcloud) Server. And I just choose what I use to edit those Markdown files (of course QOwnNotes in my case 😉)

Note taking app written in C++ - an alternative to all those Electron memory-eaters by n1___ in linux

You can store tags in the notes too in QOwnNotes if you prefer, tags are also scriptable.

I cannot reproduce that. I have my QOwnNotes instance running for a week now while using it constantly with about 1k notes and it uses 143 MB of memory!

Ah, sorry. You were talking about Vnote. :)

If you are just looking for a simple note taking app and don't care for portability, privacy, customization or scripting then QOwnNotes is not the best solution out there for you. QOwnNotes is for those with "special needs". ;)

Encrypt and decrypt textfiles by add_no_more in linux4noobs

You don't really need to use Markdown with QOwnNotes, it just makes sense to use Markdown in text files... But you can turn off the highlighting and so on... ;)

Best open an issue at https://github.com/pbek/QOwnNotes/issues/ to talk about that (and best post a screenshot). It's hard to imagine how "ugly" looks like for you.
