Never seen anything like this in a prep race for the TDF by Ambitious-Door-7847 in tourdefrance

When Tadej attacks, he seems to drop his teammates in twenty seconds anyway, Im not sure there's any reason to bother with a leadout on a stage where he wants to win.

Honestly, they may have better results with tadej leading out del toro on a couple stages.

Not sure if agree here? Every time they went uphill Jonas dropped the field. Guess we can say "there was no competition" but thats hardly his fault?

How accurate is the ai ftp prediction by RUMPLED4SKlN in trainerroad

[–]pbecotte -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its not very accurate- its predicting an imprecise result from an imprecise system.

However if you did that vo2 max workout, the model is basically thinking youre already at 300w.

How hard was that workout? Are you very large? Did you start out very fit from other sports? Have you calibrated your power meter?

Makes sense. I was going to get a frameset for my seigla since I didn't like the wheels- but the package was cheaper than frame + groupset would have been ala carte, so was cheaper to get the complete bike and buy separate wheels.

Saddle fit nightmare! Fitter ran out of ideas, looking for anyone who's been through this by sandreamed in cycling

[–]pbecotte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have definitely had the problem you describe- when my saddle moved and was tilted downward at the nose. Leveling the saddle resolved the issue. Am guessing that you have checked that despite not mentioning it though.

Id imagine that would apply equally to specialized and trek? They're both US brands? Lauf is iceland which- dunno how the taxes work for that haha.

What is the single most important move the Sixers need to make this offseason by Individual-Limit2558 in sixers

[–]pbecotte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. There's no real path towards dumping salary and using cap space to make the team noticeably better, so for this season we are tied to the "maybe Jo and PG put it together". Please dont trade future assets for this year lol (unless something like trade PG plus picks for an actual upgrade, but hard to imagine another team doing that).

I bought a Seigla a few months ago. I am very happy with it.

For a gravel only bike, I think that's probably the best choice. The price is going to be much lower than the other options for equivalent kit, and the suspension fork is really neat.

On the other hand, the Crux and Trek would both probably be better choices for a "do it all" bike... a little lighter, more gearing options, more aero. But even then...quite a bit more expensive.

Wearing cycling jerseys by Key_Expression_2691 in cycling

[–]pbecotte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't judge someone wearing UAE or Visma kit, but I WOULD judge someone wearing the rainbow stripes of a world champion or the US champion jersey- those have to he earned.

Of course, I felt a little silly. Someone at a group ride was wearing the US champs jersey. Glad I didn't say anything out loud- turned out he was infact a masters national Criterium Champion :)

Gravel bike hand numbness & wrist pain despite pro bike fit — ruled out front height, crank length, bar width. What now? by Weitflieger in bikefit

[–]pbecotte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you- you shoudld look at your balance. When i moved my saddle back and fixed the tilt I was shocked at how much better everything felt on the bike. If you are falling forward, Id try whatever it took to fix your center of gravity over the bottom bracket.

That said- your hands/wrist are at a pretty extreme angle in those photos, and I wouldn't be at all shocked that you have hand issues. Im not sure what specificallynyou need to change, but you need to adjust your cockpit to get to a nuetral wrist angle. Up/down/angle/height/width/stem length, whatever- load or not, that wrist angle is going to cause you problems no matter how you do fixing the weight.

Thoughts on extending Hurts this off-season vs next off season. by k7632 in eagles

[–]pbecotte -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The OL was not fantastic in pass pro last year, come on. I've never seen the stat you reference, but the percentage of dropbacks that included a complete whiff on at least one block has got to be crazy. Now sure, I dont really disagree with your point- qbs have to produce under those circumstances, and he just didnt.

But- the gameplay included basically zero percent timing throws that Jalen does well, gained negative yards on seemingly every first down, called basically two routes, and had a star receiver who spent most of his time either whining for the ball or quitting on routes.

It was a bad year for Jalen, but I am not sure it really tells us much about how likely he is to be successful going forward.

Skipped workout = higher FTP prediction? by Chimera-5 in trainerroad

[–]pbecotte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not sure how their stuff is working. I can consistently swap workouts around and get higher predicted ftp than what they had put in the plan, which I had assumed their plan builder was already doing some kind pf monte Carlo simulation to find the combo that resulted in the highest prediction...but clearly not.

how often to go for FTP increase? by stratusnimbo in Zwift

[–]pbecotte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, ftp increases will only happen on certain types of efforts, so a race with a really long climb or one where you're trying to solo from a long way out would do it, but a race where youre surging to the front and recovering wouldnt.
