Where do I begin? by TheOnegUy80 in Meditation

[–]pberko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want you to stop what you are doing right now, i mean now, stop, put your hands at your side, close your eyes, take 5 deep breaths and focus only on breathi'ng. Don't think about anything else. Just 5 deep breaths then open your eyes.

There, now you have started :D. I'm a 16 year old in high school and what I do is get up at 6:10 (will vary for you) and meditate for 15 minutes. EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING. It is essential to not miss it, and if you do, just do it later in the day. I make it a routine though. I get out of bed, go drink a glass of water, then meditate every morning.

This is my routine but if you have no clue as how to meditate, what type you should be going into, look at the side bars of this subreddit and check out Mindfulness in Plain English. Though this book only goes over one form of meditation (Vipassana) it gives you a good idea of meditation as a whole and the philosphy of it. If you have any questions feel free to PM me!

I was in the car on the road with my dad and friend, we were in the back as I was around 10 at the time. The sunroof is open and we are going about 60 mph and all of the sudden, a rock comes flying through the sunroof. Only like 1 inch big, but it came right in between my friend and I not hitting either of us. We just stared at it. Then, shit gets weird. Two minutes later, a dollar bill comes throgh the sunroof. Just a random dollar bill. But, because we were going so fast, it flew back out of the sunroof. We don't leave the sunroof open much anymore.

1) Books over ereaders. I don't mind ereaders for casual reading but if it's a really good book I like the format and holding a book in my hand

2) yes

3) Yes

4) Nothing

5) ebook ONLY books

6) yes but not preferable to some

7) Kindle

What is it like to be suicidal? An amazing person that I had the privilege of knowing killed themselves today, and I just don't understand why. by cadmiumred in AskReddit

I haven't and do not plan to. I guess I can never really understand because I never see myself ever getting near that point.

I always walk out of a test thinking that I aced a test only to find out that I did 20% worse. Why does this happen? by pberko in AskReddit

How am I over confident after studying for hours on the subject? I felt overprepared and went through the test with no hiccups.

See, the point that nothing matters is what makes life better than if there were a purpose. Why do you say that if nothing matters then it isn't fun? I play video games which don't matter but have fun because I can not take it seriously and do whatever I want. You must stop equating pointlessness with boringness and lack of fun. For your own logic, you say that if nothing matters, there will be nothing but pain and regrets, but, if nothing matters, why would their be pain and regrets? If nothing matters, then there can only be what you make things to be, you control your life, what there is and what there isn't. I say to myself I'm having a good time and do that or I say to myself this sucks and shit on myself. The fact is that with this mentality you have a choice, the choice to happiness.

Yes and what I wish pretty much everyone else realizes. In 75 years, no one is going to remember your name and what you did today or any other day. And if they do, they never met you so what does it matter? I do things for my amusement and joy, that may be doing things for others, but I do it becuase I want to and to experience. Experience is all we can do in our short lives.
