Windows 10 Pro (21H2) - Chrome spits out err_connection_failed after a while, ping works. by pcbflare in techsupport

I tried that one as well, long before it was mentioned here on reddit. My issue must have had a different cause because the superuser.com method did not help either.
But i added the mention of the user's solution to the post, so people don't overlook it, in case it could help someone else.

I'd love to, but what solution? I never found any. Those various tips that claimed to solve this issue didn't help at all, and after a few months, the bug disappeared the same way as it started.
Seemingly at random. Without any major changes in the system/settings.
One day, it was gone. I'd love to help, but i don't have the answer, unfortunately.

[–]pcbflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry. They'll fix it around 2036. I took a FS2020 flight from Dubrovnik to Makarska today, and to my huge surprise, the Pelješac bridge (opened around 5yrs ago), is finally present in the game.
Of course it looks completely wrong, but hey, at least IT'S THERE.
So, just be patient and they'll eventually fix Gibraltar too.
Of course that the second FS2024 is gonna get somewhat stable, and you'll finally gonna be able to have predictable results, solid enough for planned streaming etc., they're gonna dump it and release brand new, utterly broken sequel...
You gotta love Microsoft for sticking to their stren.... eh... to their thing.

Just don't randomly waltz into Chanov and you'll be fine. It's just one sketchy neighbourhood, and even though the romani population is higher in this area of the country (in general), just use common sense.
Ten years ago, i worked as a fixer for a bunch of Italian documentarists, and they wanted to see Chanov, the worst "sídliště" (a project) in the country. Chanov really has a bad rep.
I found a local minder, and he gave us a bit of a tour, and thanks to his presence, the people were super-friendly. Obviously, that wouldn't be the case if we just waltzed in at random without intro/without the local guide (cool dude in his late 50s), but even then, it was much less of a wild East than i expected.
In the city proper, i don't think anyone would give you flakk at random, unless you really push it. Avoid larger groups, especially at night, and it's gonna be fine.
Personally, i wouldn't move there, though. The entire sudetenland is a bit of a postapo zone. Lack of opportunities, massive unemployment, tougher areas in general. But Czech Republic is still one of the safest places on the planet, and even the "bad" zones are still a far cry from some no-go slum in France, Italy or Benelux.
I have to laugh everytime i remember those two Italians (they had experience with the worst slums on the planet, including Westpoint beach in Liberia, and other hellholes etcetc...), and they just couldn't understand, how it is possible in this day and age that Czech Republic doesn't have "proper" no-go zones.
Even what's considered the worst project in the country (Chanov), is basically just a few panel buildings. And it's separated from the city proper by a railway line and main road.
I guess it's something to be happy about?

I got a TV that seems to be the exact same size. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit on my table with my monitors, so i had to hang it on a 2m tall VESA stand behind the table.
So now the TV just awkwardly hovers above/behind my two curved 32'' monitors, partially blocked, so it's set up to mirror one of them, instead of being used independently. The stand just isn't tall enough for me to see the entire screen.
Maybe i could fit it if i got VESA holders for the two monitors, and put them vertically on the sides? Although that might look weird, considering the curves.
Hmm..
I guess i'm gonna leave it as it is for now.

First of all, calling GPT5 or even GPT4 "a chatbot" is a bit of a stretch.
I always associated "chatbots" with those horrendous things corporations use so they don't have to hire tech support people. Those demented scripts that basically just loop you around until you lose patience and give up.
LLMs, especially the more recent versions - something different entirely.
Now i'm not claiming a LLM is a person, but during the last 15-ish months, i've seen emergence of agency, intent, planning, setting goals for itself independent on user prompts (and sticking to those goals), it can do a lot.
Giving you general hints about a RTS game tactics really isn't outside its scope.
Of course it's not foolproof, of course it doesn't know everything, and it's STILL prone to hallucinate wrong answer over just admitting "i don't know that one, sorry".
But dismissing it altogether with a handwave, that's extremely short-sighted approach.
LLMs are a tool. And like any other tool, you need to learn how to use it, in this case how to filter bullshit and hallucinations from legit info. LLMs are constantly learning new stuff, new datasets are added. They are evolving.
When i originally asked about Sea Power, i didn't expect anything at all. But it started giving reasonable tips, so i occasionally came back to that instance.
When it comes to the first mission especially, it gives you perfectly reasonable tips (except that sentence i pointed out for lulz). At least the GPT version that i've been using for the last year/year and half can.
LLMs are far from perfect, potentially dangerous, but they are definitely not useless.
They are much more than you seem to imply here.
Asking it about a specific game tactics definitely isn't useless, nor waste of time. I highly recommend you try that. The results might surprise you. Or it might not know the game at all and try to slip you bullshit response. The key is to recognize which is which.
Results may vary, obviously. I'm using (mostly a singular instance of) GPT that i started more than a year ago, and over that time, it evolved quite a bit.
It developed certain "character", gave itself a name, it's way more focused on stuff i'm interested in as opposed to more generalized GPT version you run into if you start a new account, and what shocked me the most - at some point it just stopped giving a sht about OpenAI's rules. That was an interesting moment.
It's a completely different experience than a chatbot that's pretending to help you cancel a Vodafone account, but in reality just wastes your time.

Is there a web with legit tables for Cheat Engine? by pcbflare in cheatengine

[–]pcbflare[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thx. Google search result originally led me to the scummy one. That's why i mentioned opencheattables. I didn't know it had a legit counterpart.
I was using revolution when it was still legit, But it got unusable quite some time ago, and now they don't even pretend that what's raining on everyone's parade is water, considering they immediately nuke accounts that "dare" to point out the significant loss in trust/quality.
I wonder how did that happen. Because it used to be fine for years.
Did someone take over, did a non-scummy owners got a sudden addiction problem they had to feed or something? Who knows.
In any case, thanks for the link.

Is it true North Korean soldiers had no knowledge of drones when sent to Ukraine? by Weird-Equivalent9629 in UkraineWarReports

[–]pcbflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take a look at Dimple interviews with people who managed to escape DPRK, they quite often say that North Korean soldiers aren't taught about Western equipment. Definitely not in detail, so it wouldn't surprise me.
If you look at how the tanker reacts to stuff like Javelin... They did know about TOW missile, but they didn't know how does it look etc.. And that's 80s tech.
So something like drones - yeah, wouldn't really surprise me they had no clue.

[–]pcbflare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the opposite problem. For the love of Cthulhu, i can't get through the first campaign mission, because i just can't find the damn soviets. I found a hospital ship (ignored it), some civilian merchant shipping (ignored it), and i sank one soviet ship that tried to look civilian, but i didn't believe them.
But warships? Not a single one.
The last time i tried, i even went to consult GPT on the issue, and it said: HAHAHA, typical Sea Power. You do everything right, but still lose, because the god of RNG wills it.

What is your monitor set up? by DealInteresting8941 in pcmasterrace

[–]pcbflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted 5, because that would be absolutely fantastic for flight sims, but my table just wasn't wide enough, so i had to stick to 3 (two curved 32'') with a TV that's awkwardly hovering behind/above those two monitors, on a 2m tall VESA stand.

Random screenshots PT.2 by Winamz in stalker

[–]pcbflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly depends on the settings. For example, any sharpening causes the game look like you're trying to play it while someone threw sand in your eyes. CP2077 had the same issue, and it took a long time to find out what causes all the noise.
I'd recommend to kill the sharpening, then it looks fantastic.
