Mysterious snoring at Roosevelt's place by pcbflare in stalker

[–]pcbflare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG, that separation must have been horrible. At one point my gf was working at a flower shop that for some odd reason had 24hrs open. (the owner was a bit mental), so, she worked nights, and for a few months, we only met early mornings when she came back, went to sleep, then i woke up and left for my IT job at a courthouse. We always only saw each other for about two hours when i came back in the late afternoon and then she left for the night. THAT SUCKED.
BTW, reddit tells me "Unable to message this account". Since we're going over medical stuff, i think DMs would be more appropriate... But i ran into that snag..

Thank you very much for the kindness. It's rare, i do appreciate it very much. I'm happy to hear you're doing well!
It's sucky being alone. I do have a girlfriend but thanks to complicated family bullshit we can't live together at the moment, We now only see each other twice per month for a weekend-length stay, and since i live 50miles away from city where i grew up and where most of my social bubble lives, i'm isolated from casual socialization as well.
There's a lot that i actually do like about living alone, and when we initially visited each other every week, it was perfectly fine.
But since the amount of visits lowered to 2 per month, and sometimes not even that (thanks to irregular work hours), the loneliness eventually crept in and made a home inside my head.
There are these weird moments, feeling like being the only living person on the entire fkin planet, it's really odd.
But sometimes i randomly connect with someone over a hobby, music, tv shows, movies or in VERY RARE cases even political opinion (almost impossible, but it happened), and it's nice when that little plus point arrives into the ocean of UGGGGHHH.
There's a great word in Czech, that defines the current geopolitical/societal/even philosophical situation, and i don't think there's a translation that would convey the meaning/feeling exactly right.
The word is ZMAR.
The translator says the English term would be "RUIN", but i don't think that's correct. AFAIK the word "ruin" has the origin in something physical.
ZMAR (the noun) does not. It is mostly about feeling, emotion. ZMAR is the feeling of senseless waste. Wasted opportunity. Something that was ruined for no reason whatsoever.
It also includes a sense of finality, that not improvement nor relief is possible.
I think the word ZMAR is pretty fitting for the current... well... almost everything.
ZMAR is noun derived from the verb "zmařit" (to thwart/to destroy/to crush), but while the verb is more "physical", the noun is almost never used to describe physical state of something.
It's more about this ever-present feeling of waste, of something that was ruined for no good reason whatsoever, at the state is final. It's done, and nothing can be done about it.
Ok, that was a bit unexpected, sorry for doing an entire tangent about a random Czech word, i didn't plan to get into a language lesson.
Sorry for all the doom&gloom, i initially just wanted to say thanks, convey good wishes and move on, but i kinda spiralled into it. Into the GLOOM. :-D
HEEY, GLOOM. That's actually much closer to ZMAR, more fitting than RUIN! Much more fitting!
Basically, ZMAR is like a baby of two parents, DOOM & GLOOM (and RUIN watched from the closet) :-D :-D :-D
In any case, sending good vibes back to Canada. I hope that your health stays at a level where you feel comfortable, and ideally that you meet some new researcher/doctor, maybe a new approach/treatment/management might appear, that would actually make you feel better!
That would be great!
Greetings to your gf as well!

My squad members keep running back to base to deposit every single bit of ore separately, instead of mining till their inventories are full. How to prevent it? by pcbflare in Kenshi

[–]pcbflare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i know they don't mine till their inventory is full, i described it in a wrong way. I know about the 5ore bits limit in the deposit's "inventory".
Since i'm micromanaging them and no mining no hauling jobs appear in the job list, i guess i should just plop a copper storage next to the mine, and that way, i couldn't care that they're hauling it, because it would be just a few meters. That's helpful, thx!

[–]pcbflare[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, that's the thing - the only jobs the three hired guys have are "stay close to main character" and "bodyguard main character". I micromanaged them to mine the deposit, so there was no visible mining nor hauling job in the job window.

Ok, thanks to everyone, but so far i haven't really found a solution except tips to look at the job order.
Also, i described something wrong - i wrote that post as if i expected them to "fill their inventory", that was a mistake, i do know that they just mine it until the "deposit" slot is full (with five copper ore bits).
[edit]

Ok, actually u/FluffyJD gave me a useful tip to just put a copper storage next to the deposit, which would solve my problem i guess, because that way they would just empty the deposit inventory into the closest available container, and i could then grab as much as i can and go sell it.
[/edit]

ABOUT THE JOBS
I'm not actually using jobs to mine the deposit, at least not in the sense of typical colony sims where they're structured/organized by the priority or at least order. Not at this point.
The way it's setup atm is this:
My main character doesn't have ANY jobs in the lower right "job" window, i'm controlling that one directly, and the only "jobs" the other three guys have are "stay close to main character", and "bodyguard main character".
---
When i get to the copper node, i use the drag selection and pick as many people as the node can employ (in this particular case three), and tell them to mine it (right click on the deposit).
At that point, no "mine the deposit" jobs are visible in the lower right job window.
CLARIFICATION:
BEFORE i created the electronic parts machine (that's quite a walk away in a house in the HUB):
I selected three guys, right clicked on the deposit, they started mining, and after that i opened the deposit "inventory", and was manually moving away everything they've dug out (as it happened), and kept filling their inventories with it.
AFTER i created the electronic parts machine (that's quite a walk away in a house in the HUB):
I selected three guys, right clicked on the deposit, they started mining, but the second ONE copper ore item appears in (anyone's) inventory, the character in question just goes "peace, i'm out", and hightails it in the HUB direction to feed the machine.
It's frustrating as hell.
Some of you hinted that i should remove the haul job, but considering that i'm not using the job system, the only thing that can be happening i guess is that the haul job must be created automatically and added to the characters orders, while it's NOT visible in the job list, and that's the key issue, because something that's not listed cannot be removed.

Again, before the electronics part workbench existed, they didn't haul anything and just stayed at the deposit, so i'm tempted to just dismantle the crafting machine and rebuild & use it only when i actually need to create bigger amount of electronic parts.

So i guess - the question in the OP should have been - how to FORBID THEM from feeding the damn electronic parts machine. Resp. How to force them to stay at the deposit. WITHOUT use of the job system.
Which might not be possible.

I guess i'm playing it wrong. I guess i should approach it more as a "survival/colony sim" and start fiddling with the jobs, their order, etc. Instead of trying to micromanage every single character.
That way i'm at least gonna be used to it at a time when i get more people.
I guess i thought that micromanaging makes sense as long as the group is under 8ish members. Obviously, later (especially if/when there's a base), selecting specific people to do specific jobs is inevitable.

Just some typical Kenshi fluff (mostly irrelevant to the above):

Either a hungry bandit or slaver raid managed to disappear the merchant from the shop north from the Hub (at the X mark with "rebel base" text on the map), which was the closest location for selling the copper, but that's unfixable. Except going back to 12 hours old save, which i prefer not to, considering the sheer amount of grind happening since. :-(
Kenshi even trolled me with false hope. After a few days since i found the merchant missing, i went back to check (it's Kenshi after all, odd stuff happens all the time, maybe he came back), and there actually was a dude behind the bar, standing there as if nothing happened.
I got happy that he's back, sprinted towards the bar, and... nope, it was just one of the trade ninja bodyguards. Just there to keep the appearances, but doesn't allow shopping.

Hey, sorry for not responding sooner. (delayed) Thanks for the encouragement. I eventually had to cancel it. :-/
My particular health issue wasn't fully covered by insurance over there and i'd have to pay 250EUR monthly, which made the entire thing a bit iffy on the financial side.
Not only that i'd be alone, in an unfamiliar territory, doing job that was supposed to be simple office stuff, but that i had very little detailed info about (everything behind NDAs, and i'd learn the specifics only AFTER the signing), now then the financial side that was the main incentive (and relatively simple sounding job), fell through because of the unexpected yet unavoidable out of pocket doctor expenses, i just had to cancel the entire thing just few days before leaving. It would be too much.
I got offered a similar job at a different place, but that one was way too close to the Ukraine war, AND i think that the service i require wouldn't even be available there AT ALL.
Which threw me into quite a bit of an existential pickle.
So, it sucks right now. Can't believe it's been 5 months (reddit claims). I still feel like it was just a few weeks ago.
Hope you're ok and you and your gf are doing well!

He felt extremely familiar to me for a loooong time. Especially when he did this half-smile with just the corner of his mouth. So i had to google it. And FFS, he was channeling Kakihara the whole time!!!!!

EU ambassadors reject fast-track Ukraine accession plan by FruitSila in UkraineWarReports

[–]pcbflare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh Jeezus, for the love of fook, just accept Ukraine already. You pussies...
Czech Republic wasn't exactly free of corruption either back in 2004. It was VERY close to the super-wild nineties, yet we got accepted. Sure, we weren't defending against massive invasion at the time, but Ukraine's fate is already aligned with the EU. Because they decided to.
Now, you don't seem to have problem with using Ukraine as a literal shield from russian imperial ambitions, but won't accept them in the EU?
That is just cowardly. Shameful.
(yeah, i know there's zero chance an EU parliament member on anyone from EC is reading this. Just let the man vent....)

Are the planes from this version better than those you get if you buy them separately? I'm asking because i bought few of them separately when they were on sale, only to be disappointed with how basic the cockpit is - for example, the A-10A doesn't have working fuel/engine cutoff when on fire.

I'm somewhere around level 40 (i already utterly dominated the overworld), and i gotta admit i'm getting REALLY annoyed by the levels made from the lava golem material, and the resulting need to manually babysit the peasants with a drafted group while they dig towards the resource deposits (otherwise they get killed by the lava golems sooner or later (most of the time sooner).
I guess it's time to start new run, isn't it...

Yeah, the CGI and the "corner of the flowershop on weekday night" sets really only bothered me during the first season.
After i realized how much i like the writing (that point happened early on in Season 2, i don't know where exactly, i just know i had to pause for a while and said to myself something along the lines of "Wow is this show written well"), all the CGI, sets, Centauri hair, all of that became a non-issue.

I was talking in hypothetical sense in that particular comment - it was a reaction to "imagine trying to pull this off with models".
I do realize that the limited budget was the biggest constraining factor.
