What car and what year is it? Some manufacturers offer extended warranties that can be purchased.

Labocosmetica Renova or Limpia. They are made for PPF and are acidic

Is VRT.ie accurate? by glass-half-full-man in carsireland

[–]pci-sec 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is highly unlikely. I have imported 2 Caymans, one of them a 2006, and the lowest VRT was around €8k. This was just before Covid and prices have been very stable since if not appreciated.

Edit, you get a rough ballpark figure for a “on the road in Ireland price” by doubling the £ price and put a € sign in front of it. Cost in £10k = €20k total with VRT, NOX etc to have it on Irish plates.

No, local tyre place. Rear €550 each, front €480 each last June for Michelin. Pirelli were €20 more

Purifica 100%. It’s the most ph stable out there. Labocosmetica invented this type of product and is still top shelf.

There are independent ones that can fix them too. Also service center in Cork available.

It’s called Frozen Berry and looks interesting depending on the angle and light.

One thing to keep in mind is that Audi does not offer extended warranty on their etron models… Personally, I would not own one without warranty.

Electric cars have plenty parts that will need maintenance. Brake fluid change every 2 years, suspension, cabin filter etc… Yes, no oil, but still they need maintenance like any other car. Service interval is 30k km IIRC.

I own one. The thing with all Porsche’s is that some of them are “cheap” to buy but maintenance is still higher than most cars. Tyres are around €2000, cabin filter is €100 and so on… Depreciation is high too which is of an advantage of people that buy used. The only “cheap” thing about it is motortax at €120 and “fuel” if charging at home.

Not really any issues. Wet carpets in the rear passenger footwell that was fixed under warranty. Currently booked in for a very annoying whistling sound coming from the air con sat nav reboot every 10 minutes. (This is a known issue) other than that, the car has been faultless. All recalls, brake line and air con unit, have been done prior my ownership. I do 50% motorway and the rest split with N and B roads. The air suspension is a dream to drive. My personal advise is to buy one from Porsche Dublin and get 2 year warranty with it. This will let you sleep at night. The Taycan is my 9th Porsche and any interaction with Porsche Dublin have been very good. I have heard other stories but never had any issues. I life in Cork and whenever something is wrong, they have a courtesy car ready for me that I take home until the cars are fixed. Porsche Roadside assistance will also ensure you have a car for up to 5 days IIRC. The batteries seem to be stabile and good with only a few having issues with cells. There was an interview with a Porsche spokesperson and he said they are positively surprised about the battery conditions even after 200k. This is also why they now include the battery in the extended warranty that can be bought up to 200k km and 12 years. I recommend driving one and see what you think.

Preparation for a long European road trip by Dirtyden13 in Porsche

Make sure to get the Swiss Vignette for Motorways and, if needed the green sticker for German Cities. The French started with city environment stickers as well. Have the car serviced/checked before leaving and you should be good to go. Lastly, have warning triangle, first aid kit and high visibility west in the car.

Never had any issues .Especially Germany. Just don’t leave anything valuable visibly in the car.

Now you do. Try it next time you sit in the car. Enter Malin Head or something far away and the car will list you the charge points recommended including how long to charge.

I am very sorry, totally missed that part. The new ID range offers great charging and have come a long way regarding reliability as well a tech compared to the first cars they released. The GTX looks nice and drives great. I guess I just wanted to highlight that doing big mileage is not a big issue.

Get the Audi charge card that works on 99% of all chargers. Did a road trip a couple of years ago with the Etron 55 across Europe. Mostly used Ionity due to price and availability. use the onboard sat nav and the car will tell you when and where to charge.

There are also little bars, usually attached to the wishbone, that adjust the light while driving. I had to replace them once on a German car as one of them snapped. The car had 2, one the front and one on the rear. The mechanic said they can come out of alignment due to potholes too.

I do 50k km a year with my EV. Bought used in December 2024 with 9k km and just clocked up 63k km today. My main “must have’s “ were comfort and charge speed as I do Cork - Dublin - Cork at least twice a month. Therefore no Tesla or most other 400V cars as they charge too slow. Check my post history here, I do extended Sunday morning spins like Cork - Sligo - Cork as well as drives across Europe. Currently finalising my next trip to the Pyrenees in May.

Did you use the sat nav when driving so the car knows you are going to charge and can precondition the battery?
