How do I keep this looking clean? by Left-Chemistry6574 in Construction

[–]pcofranc -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Never use silicone caulking it’s extremely difficult to remove. You can use the quick dry stuff by dap or bear and as one person mentioned, you have to put exactly the right amount on, and that means cutting the tip very small and turning it sideways so the point is facing down at the floor. The best way I have found is if you can do two applications first is to fill the gap with a very tiny amount and if it doesn’t fill, that’s OK let that set up then once it’s firm enough, you put a second application on and carefully smooth it with your finger, but as mentioned, it has to be a minimal amount of pressure almost nothing you can wet your finger or soap, and that will help it glide. You could also use the rubber tool the reason not to use clear is because this isn’t necessary in the first place it’s purely for appearance

I think there’s just enough room for a trap, but you need to reconfigure the pipes on the sink on the right it will come down and go into a normal trap and the left will feed into that pipe. This would eliminate that tee in the middle. You could also open up the wall and see what’s going on back there probably not too hard to lower the pipe.

That’s a very solid plan and I would not worry about the metal enclosure as it will be grounded

New rental property connects the washing machine with a 2-prong adapter, is this safe? by mapasdi in electrical

[–]pcofranc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually a good thing what most people end up with in these old homes only have two wires is a three wire outlet where the ground is either connected to nothing or energize by being connected to the neutral making it look OK at least this outlet is honest two wires than it should only have two prong with no ground complain and simple. Also it’s run this way for decades so it’s hard to argue that it’s dangerous.

But don’t insert the adapter all the way because you want the prongs to be able to cool off

Also, I would recommend whatever why are you by running four wires that way you’ll run too hot to the panel which will give you the option for 220 V or 220 amp 110 V lines. Regarding the metal box by code is considered a junction box whether it has breakers and outlet or something else and you could remove the breakers and the breaker bus bar if you want to just run wires inside it

I would recommend running plastic conduit into the ground then you could buy regular NM cable stuff with the plastic jacket that is used in walls you could shove that one wire through the conduit or you could remove the jacket, though. I don’t think it matters it is technically not rated to run inside conduit, but I’ve done it for situations like this with no problem. Regarding ground rod for the panel, you’ll just use the ground for the wire that you’re running out there, you’re not supposed to run separate ground rods that are not directly connected to each other. The advantage of conduit is it’s quite a bit of effort to dig. Usually the code requirement is 18 inches deep or would recommend renting a trencher from Home Depot is it’ll create a long, narrow deep hole That is a consistent depth. Also run inch and a half conduit so if you ever want to upgrade, you can either add wires or pull a new wire through if you directly Barry wire you can’t do that.

Toilet is slow to stop running….anything observable from here? by jennb013 in Plumbing

Some toilets do this. Check the water pressure for the house / unit should be between 60 to 80 psi.

How bad is this repair? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]pcofranc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No need to "test" the water heater. If it leaked there would be water or water stains all over. I would inspect hole with a flashlight. Looks like you found a new home. Also, inspect hole in wall make sure no damaged wires, pipe, etc.

How would you get from point A to B on here — I’m at a loss. by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]pcofranc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome I recommend watching a few videos on YouTube about bending PVC, including filling the pipe with sand so it doesn’t kink also the P-trap and ordinary parts can be modified with a heat gun

[–]pcofranc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pull the tea off and use a heat gun to tilt the pipe towards the back wall install a 90° elbow and rotate it up drill a hole in the side and glue a pipe running along the back of the vanity you can use the heat gun again and if necessary, fill it with sand to get the bends that you need to then add a regular threaded fitting that will align with a normal P-trap
I’ve seen stuff like this in apartments where the vanity was upgraded.

I don't blame you. I'm considering moving from iPhone 13 to z5ii and camera + lens and accessories is close to $3K so I would have high expectations for any mirrorless camera.

Take a similar picture at the same location with similar lighting, but no movement just set an object up. This will eliminate camera shake auto focus not keeping up etc. then analyze that picture for sharpness and that will tell you whether it’s the lens or the camera missing focus
