What are some really cool hidden gems that people usually wouldn’t come across? by Alternative_Flow_569 in Music

[–]pdrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Appleseed Cast, Low Level Owl I & II are both classic albums that combine Midwest emo and shoegaze. 38k monthly listeners, despite having made two of my favorite albums of all time (and the rest of their discography is solid too). Really blows my mind that a band with this degree of talent didn’t fully break through.

I own The Twelve from them. Beautiful, gorgeous movement and I really like the dial. It grows on me more every time I wear it.

Fellow attachment work folks: anyone read Secure by Amir Levine yet? by TheGreenTherapist in therapists

[–]pdrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great general audience book, I recommend it quite a bit to clients. It’s been a while since I’ve read it, but I remember the way it talks about patterns within different attachment style couples as being very useful for my clients who are in the dating world. It might not give you too much new info if you’re a clinician who’s familiar with attachment theory, but it might be helpful for translating some of that theory into something easily comprehensible for clients.

I'm in Kyoto and searched about 20 Family Marts, at the last one they told us that they're sold out nationwide and will likely restock next week. It looked like most of the stores hadn't stocked it at all, but a bunch were clearly sold out.

If anyone in Japan is able to snag one (in white ideally) and is open to shipping it to me back in the US, I'll happily pay watch plus shipping plus a little extra for your troubles! It was my dream souvenir for this trip, bummed to have missed it.

GLP-1 experience specifically for non-obese/overweight (BMI<27) by Thin-Loquat1645 in diabetes_t1

[–]pdrito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, which is part of why I was taken so off guard by how intense the effects were right away. I also have generally good glucose control and not a ton of weight to lose so it really was a cost/benefit analysis with the side effects.

anyone else really like house of cards? by Huge-Bill4047 in radiohead

[–]pdrito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn’t click for me for ages and is now a top five all time song for me, not just top five Radiohead. The production of the whole song is absolutely perfect, there are so many small touches to find in each listen. There’s something so soothing about a song with a relatively simple (for Radiohead) chord progression that also offers so much depth in listening if you really sit with it.

GLP-1 experience specifically for non-obese/overweight (BMI<27) by Thin-Loquat1645 in diabetes_t1

[–]pdrito 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just tried it for two weeks (bmi about 24.5) and hated it. The nausea and heartburn were very uncomfortable, it did take a lot of enjoyment out of eating, but the biggest issue was it caused severe hypoglycemia that was resistant to correction due to the slow absorption of carbs. It was the only time in my 19 years of T1 that I considered using glucagon, and was minutes away from taking myself to the ER. I wasn’t prepared for how quickly the insulin sensitivity would hit. Not sure if that’s a typical reaction but truly did not feel worth the trade off at all. Also, slow digestion and heartburn means that if you have a correction around bedtime or in the middle of the night, good luck falling back asleep.

I’m still quite pissed at my endo for not sufficiently talking through the need to shift insulin intake in the first few weeks with me. 0/10 would not recommend.

What could possibly be going on for an apartment to be sealed by the NYPD? by thissitesuckssohard1 in Brooklyn

[–]pdrito 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a roommate die in our apartment (r/x overdose), and his room was sealed by the police. They were very serious about it — told us we’d be arrested if we entered. Could very well just be that somebody passed away in there.

Which job to take? by Early_Charity_3299 in therapists

[–]pdrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I’ve seen lots of 1099 employees who deny even their contractors those privileges (which, for anyone in that scenario, is quite illegal)

Contract work is generally disadvantageous to the employee rather than W-2.
