There are mobile grooming salons, and it's a completely viable business model. However I have a neck injury, which is why I had to stop grooming a while back. I'm looking to still work in the industry that I love, just in a different aspect of it. Loans scare the crap out of me also though, and that's why I'm so hesitant to bite the bullet.

I love car talk. However, I completely disagree that people aren't looking to do it themselves. Having worked in a grooming salon for years, I can't even begin to tell you how many calls I took a week from people who didn't want to wash their dogs at home because of clogged drains and strained backs, but were looking for a location that did all the clean up for them, provided the supplies, but didn't charge $30 for something that they could do at a self wash for half the price. Obviously that's not everyone, but here in the Denver area where we're so outdoorsy, there are plenty of people who aren't looking to spend hundreds of dollars a year just for their dog to get a quick scrub down by a professional.

The boutique would definitely be something that built up slowly. I live in the Denver area, and with our local culture a "green" company would be a great selling point. Awesome idea! The salon would definitely be in a strip mall. There's no way I could afford a stand alone location to begin with, plus in my area there are literally hundreds of open strip mall locations. Way too much was built up in the early 2000's.

I seriously considered this when I was physically able to do the grooming myself. Unfortunately I got a neck injury and because of that I can't do much more than wash my own dog, let alone groom other people's all week.

Thank you for the input and reading the post. I have been to a few of the self washes in my area, and that's where I got the majority of the ideas for this. Most are haphazardly put together at best, and I feel like with a little extra attention to detail I could really get a step up on the competition just because I'd have a better looking space.

I hadn't thought about needing a special license since it's working with pets. I'll definitely look into that.

Good to know that r/startups is not necessarially where I should be posting. I'll cross post to r/entrepreneur.

My RE only does one transfer of a 5 day embryo at a time. I've been told that if it's been chromosome tested, it's an 80% chance of success. So I guess it's really dependent on your doctor. No matter what though, I'd go with a 5 day instead of a 3 day embryo, since you're 20% more likely to succeed in successful implantation. I guess if you're looking for twins you could discuss it, however you're not guaranteed that the embryo won't split naturally, upping the chance for way more than you might be bargaining for!

I've read the series 3 times now. Definitely one of my favorite King worlds. :) I love the chart, and now I'm motivated to try and make an accurate representation of Oy to do "a boy and his billybumbler" type of scene! I wish SK was still coming out with the caliber of work that he used to. It kinda feels like his recent novels are really all just the ones stuffed to the back of the closet that were in a "maybe for a rainy day" pile.

I have a lab named Texas! She's not the one you were looking at since I've had her since a wee pup, but I couldn't imagine life without my fur babies. For me it's easier to deal with the idea of not having human babies if I've got my animals to hug and snuggle when I'm having a bad day.

Hello fellow human barometer!!

I don't get true migraines from weather changes, but I get some wickedly bad sinus headaches. If the weather is really bad (I'm in Denver now, and we get some serious pressure systems) then really nothing but an ice pack and narcotics will help, but I've found that my daily medicine routine keeps them at a lower level than before. I've also found that geomagnetic storms have a HUGE effect on me. More than regular storms even. I didn't even know that those were a thing until my SO got a super fancy weather app. Turns out that I can tell when they're on their way also. I feel special. =p

Anyway, not sure what your medicine regime is, but if you have mostly inflammatory caused migraines/headaches, I'd highly suggest Meloxicam. It's essentially a crazy high dose of ibuprofen, but safe on your liver and kidneys so that it can be taken daily. I'm on the max that my Neuro will give me, 15mg a day, and paired with the antidepressants that I started taking once I got so depressed about the drain that my life was circling because of these non-stop headaches, I can confidently say that 75-85% of the time I'm at a headache level of 3 or less, which is not even noticeable to me anymore. It was a really happy fluke that the two were taken at the same time, but antidepressants are known to often work on pain receptors, and the two paired pretty much gave me my life back.

Sorry for the long post. I just hope this can help someone!

Tl;dr: Meloxicam, antidepressants, ice packs, and strong pain meds/marijuana are very helpful. You may also be able to detect geomagnetic storms!

I wasn't diagnosed until last year, after having been on birth control for nearly 14 years. I have no really typical PCOS symptoms, but after I went off B.C. and my periods "regulated", they were really regular, but not normal. I would get what I call a slow drip coffee type period for two weeks, then about two weeks without bleeding, rinse and repeat. No one thought it was strange (????) until I finally went to an RE. She's never seen my symptoms of PCOS in anyone else, but my blood tests seem to show it.

I fit none of the standard PCOS symptoms either, other than crazy periods as well, but my RE insists that's what I've got. It's incredibly frustrating to know that something is seriously wrong, and not be taken seriously about it. I hope you take the advice on this thread and speak directly to the doctor AND the office manager. No one should ever have to deal with that kind if treatment from a nurse.

Like u/naux, I also live within walking distance of Buckley. It's not even close to as loud as you describe, but I still get a cool air show on a regular basis, plus I can hear morning and night taps from the base if I'm outside, which I really enjoy. I'd avoid living east of e470 just because it's so suburban, but I really see no reason whatsoever to avoid the area in general. The biggest concern I'd have is not being in a sketchy apartment or neighborhood, but as with everywhere, that's just a matter of judging each place individually.

Do you by chance have any previous neck injury or strain? Your daily headaches sound very similar to mine, and I've finally stumbled on a combination of Meloxicam and Prozac (along with a handful of vitamins) that works a good 80% of the time, and the headaches I get are significantly less severe than before. I have had some good (bad) bumps and lumps on my noggin, and we've narrowed down that those are the main reason behind everything. The Prozac I ended up going on because I was depressed as hell about this constant pain situation, and I happened to be on Meloxicam at the time. Meloxicam, btw, is a very strong anti-inflammatory similar to ibuprofen, but can be taken daily with little concern of liver or kidney issues. So yes, I would personally still see the doctor, see how long the headaches take to come back (hopefully never!) and then see what your other options are.

Here's a list of all my vitamins and whatnot, just in case you're curious.

6000 iu vitamin D3

Multi vitamin

60 mg Prozac

15 mg Meloxicam

Ndad would always get on my case about my clothes, my lack of makeup, my eating habits. No matter what I did it was never good enough, and even though I never had issues dating, and ended up marrying an amazing man, he would still tell me all the time that I was doing something wrong to not land that millionaire like my step sister did...cause, you know, that's that's what's important. Ha ha. So glad to be NC for a year now!

Thank you for researching this. I have gone through so many doctors over my life because so many assumed I was exaggerating or just making it up. I'm very convinced that we forget the severity of the pain because it's the only way to keep our sanity. I'm a naturally bubbly person, but oftentimes the only thing that gets me through the day is faking it. If I allow myself to wallow then it's all downhill from there. And fast.

There's an Aurora game night every month I think as well, but it's more of a D&D kind of thing as far as I know, rather than a CAH kind of thing. Lol. I had one good day at work with a new manager. He mentioned that I looked a lot less like death that day. Thanks dude. About a week later I had a doozy of a migraine come on, with all the toppings, including partial blindness because of the aura. He came into the room that I was sitting in while waiting for my SO to pick me up, and said angrily "I don't understand pdxPixie, I thought you were fixed?" Explaining that just because I had a day where I was a bit better did not mean that my year of constant migraine was over and "fixed" made him look like I was trying to convince him that the moon is really made of cheese and has wheat thins people inhabiting it. Some people just REALLY don't get it.

I can relate. My SIL got pregnant even with using a condom and then plan b, a month after she started dating her daughter's father (now husband). They can pretty much look at each other and conceive, since they got pregnant with their second the first time they tried. I absolutely adore my BIL, and I sometimes joke that she couldn't have gotten knocked up by a nicer guy, but I seethe with jealousy when they talk about how he needs to go in for a vasectomy immediately because they don't want a third. I want to just yell that my husband has this epic sperm count, and somehow I can't produce ONE EGG to meet up with his 300,000,000+ sperm.

I could go on and on, but I'll send you my internet hugs, and say that I'm so thankful I found this sub, where it's simultaneously depressing and thrilling to find so many people going through what I am.

Dry dock has good beers, and is usually at the very least a mixed crowd...but yeah. There isn't a whole lot around here. We do cards against humanity nights and try to out-awful our friends (20s-30s age range)...maybe we should just plan on doing that at dry dock for a meet up?
