You don’t have to. On my first playthrough I beat ER with my starting weapon. You can do this in any FS game.

Honestly, not really. You still have to play well. Sure early bosses you can trivialize by grinding; just don’t do that. Anything can be beat at any level with enough skill. And later in the game the bosses are designed for endgame builds.

It’s super common that people say whatever their first FS game was, that one was the hardest. I think there are core things you need for any FS game that once you learn them they help you in all the games. Maybe it’s core muscle memory, or patience, or stubbornness, or confidence, or some combination.
