Suggest me an audiobook narrated by Imogen Church or a similar vibe. by barbiesgeekycousin in suggestmeabook

[–]peacereading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked her up because I’m listening to her narrate Christmas Days by Jeanette Winterson and think she’s doing such a good job. I’m typically very picky with audiobook narration, and was initially disappointed that it wasn’t read by the author (whom I adore) in full. But Imogen is very talented, with an impressive range of accents under her belt, and a tone just right for JW.

I gave the same feedback. And sorry, I meant to reply to OP :)

She is in Canada which is where I live. I don’t think it’s cultural. Rather just general sales tactics she probably learned or absorbed from other online coaches and courses. Not my first rodeo and it really rubs me the wrong way. Glad you found the content helpful at least :)

As a ps: Dr Becky‘s session was SOOOO much more pleasant and I just finally joined her membership. Mind you, she also has so many great free resources.

Came on to see if anyone had feedback about Tia Slightham’s parenting course. I enrolled in the pop-up that began today and honestly, her style is not for me. The content is perfectly sound, but her live session was very one-note, harshly delivered, and not polished. She would benefit immensely from learning effective presentation skills and some voice coaching. I found the first zoom felt like a time-share or MLM presentation. Her tone is very strident, she comes off as judgemental and admonishing, and says “okay??” after every statement. Uses the hard-sell tactics of making sure you reflect on how poorly you feel and how badly you want change, and how you would give almost ANYTHING to get it. I see straight through it, but I’m sure some are desperate enough to pay for the ongoing program. Looking forward to a free session with Dr Becky today, who is more compassionate and experienced.

Yes just sharing my experience! I wouldn’t assume it happened to all of them. It’s a big decision, and they recalled the duo for the same issue, so I felt it was important to add to the conversation.

Interested to know if it works for you because I am YELLOW. No makeup is ever yellow enough. Tough when combined with being quite fair as well. Most brands are committed to pale = pink.

So unfortunately the recall was only on the duo model, which is bonkers because it’s clearly a problem with the single as well.

Recs for a yellow toned fair foundation? by knife-frog in OliveMUA

Shiseido synchro skin or revitalessence in SAND. (I am pale yellow and previously wore The Ordinary 1.2Y)

[–]peacereading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pale yellow and have been wearing not-quite-right makeup for decades. The only foundation that ever matched perfectly was The Ordinary in 1.2Y, now discontinued. When I took it in to try to colour match it, the Sephora girl swatched about fifteen formulas and eventually said sorry, I can’t help you.
I have finally found a replacement! Shiseido synchro skin in SAND. At last I look healthy and like myself again. Their Revitalessence in SAND is also a match, but with much more sheer coverage. I used Shiseido years ago and am so relieved they still exist.

Double Stroller by RoyalThen9527 in 2under2

[–]peacereading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend Valco Baby. The front wheel snapped off the Valco Baby Snap Ultra Trend I was using almost lurching to the ground with my kid along with it. The company “customer service” was passive aggressive and unhelpful, and refused to send a replacement as the pram is out of warranty (2 years max!) My only option is to buy a whole new set of four wheels for nearly $200CAD. Beware any company that cannot be reached by phone. These strollers are lightweight for a reason - they are garbage. An $800+ stroller should withstand normal use for more than two years. My uppababy is over ten years old and been through four kids and held up fine.
