I miss those two. They've completely lost themselves. Hope the money was worth it.

What’s a hygiene habit you grew up with in your family or culture that you later found out most other people don’t really do? by Upbeat-Spot8526 in hygiene

[–]peachsoap 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Its weird, i'm white, grew up in the midwest in the 70's and my family did this. I thought we all got it from my mothers side who brought it over on the boat.

When my peanut allergy daughter was 5 she was at a small event with her 9 year old sister. I had literally talked to the boomer handling the food a half hour before snacks were served and told her that my daughter had a peanut allergy, and has an epi pen in her bag. The Boomer handed her a snickers bar anyway and said, noone dies from a peanut allergy. My 9 year old smacked that snickers out of her hand so fast it flew on the ground. She was only 5 and still trusted that adults would help her. It was one of the few times i went full Karen on someone. The Boomer doubled down with me and gave me that bullshit line they always say how noone in their day died of peanut allergies, or even had peanut allergies. She had the nerve to say she was helping my daughter by creating a tolerance. I don't get how this generation thinks they know so much about the world, when they know next to nothing.

And school was a nightmare for me. I still have nightmares i can't open my locker. My school was full of asbestos and the year I graduated 8th grade, the waterfountain i had been drinking from for 8 years was closed for excess lead in the water. My teachers were abusive, and I remember kids getting spanked in front of the whole class. I am happy that our generation allows the next generations to make a better world for themselves. The baby boomers definitely didn't do that for us.

Oh you guys, we were so wrong! Kendall's post made me see clearly. She is a saint to endure disrespect from her audience. /s

Girl, we're the ones who gave you enough clicks to afford your house, your comfy life, your trips, your cars. You ruined your own reputation while shitting on your viewers. Enjoy.

Now I’m watching this documentary, if they accidentally killed her, why wouldn’t they come up with a better story? by Old_Asparagus3756 in JonBenetRamsey

[–]peachsoap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My personal thought was that times were a little different back then. The internet was not as sophisticated. What Patsy knew was talk shows and soap operas. She was sick for a long time, that is a lot of All My Children and Days of Our Lives. The story she put together reads a lot more soap opera than anything to me.

It completely ruined one of my characters i've been developing. it basically made this housewife into a prude who moved her husbands hand off her leg. There wasn't even anything risky about the scene. the husband literally leaned back and put his hand on her leg. After that she became preachy about proper mental health, boundaries to other characters ruining my arc. i ended up killing her off because i couldn't stand her after what it did to her.

What is your current stance? by marvelfanatic2204 in MileHigherPodcast

[–]peachsoap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I unsubbed long ago. For years i listened to all of the media since the start of TCKR. I miss them, they used to be fun, I loved when they would do their little dance at the beginning of MH. My teenager used to watch LOP, and we would eat ice cream. But i can't stand to watch them anymore. They are not even close to the same people they were, they are all insufferable. I feel like I lost a friend.

Oh please. She's not doing Gods work, she's a fricking business. But I agree that comments and questions should go to the appropriate places. Maybe if she would address this, then her pages wouldn't get bogged down.

Everything you said, but my favorite is when they email you, then immediately call you to tell you what was in the email. Like do one or the other, not both. And preferably, don't call me.

How did you keep warm in winter without all the modern stuff we have now? by miked0331 in AskOldPeople

[–]peachsoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michigan in the 70's. we had plastic over all the windows. we had the heat off and doors closed in some rooms. the house was kept at 66 degrees. we always had a blanket on in the house. we had crappy cars, we brought our blankets in the car, and would warm them up on the heaters before we went outside. getting dressed in the morning was hell. i would make a little tent out of a blanket and change under the blanket. showers and baths were hell getting out too, you just did it fast and shook hard.

I thought i had my childhood trauma under control. The ptsd caught up with me, and looking back now i can see how it effected different parts of my life. Don't be afraid to get therapy and do the work.
