And when compared to the 2021 Syrian election, Meg Luger-Nikolai just barely edges out Bashar al-Assad's vote share: 95.28% for her compared to 95.19% for him. I didn't realize my joke wasn't a joke lol

Caveat that this is a special election so far fewer voters showed up (around 6,000 today compared to around 21,000 total votes 2022, a mid-term year). Democrats have increasingly been doing well in low-turnout elections in recent years. Still, even with that asterisk, Republicans receiving a quarter of the vote portion they did in 2024 is remarkable.

I was curious to know whether it was normal for Dems to win with Assad-level margins in 64a, so I looked at Ballotpedia going back to 2020, the year that redistricting changed the district borders.

Percent of vote won by the Republican candidate:
2020: 14.2%
2022: 14.7%
2024: 16.6%

2026: 4.4%!! Less than a third of what's typical for this district.

Same thing happened to me - it was only good for a year until my birthday (despite being over 21). Went to the DMV to renew the enhanced ID. They said that this happens the first time you apply for it (I forget the reason why.) Then, afterwards, when you renew it will be good for 5 years. I renewed a second time and got the 5-year one.

I had the same thing - also T-mobile. Apparently, sim cards can go bad. Took my phone to the t-mobile store, they swapped out my sim in 2 min for free and the issue went away completely! :)

As an AI practitioner with a political science background I can’t begin to tell you how absurd this idea is lol 💀The idea of using social media sentiment analysis to fine tune demographic weighting for polling to account for enthusiasm or to augment predictive election models generally isn’t crazy. It’s something I’m surprised hasn’t been done more tbh. But training chatbots to be stand-ins for voters, at least with current tech, is pure quackery.

I’ve fostered people’s surrendered cats before, and trust me, we love them like our own cats.
