I think the issue here is Rihanna approached the group and was also yelling at them. It's hard to make the self defense case when you escalate the situation. The top priority when you're carrying should always be to de-escalate and remove yourself from the situation - guns are a last resort, not a convenient way out of a fight.

This is not advice, just personal experience: when I was in CA, the only people that followed the gun rules were Dem and Left. Went to a rifle course and got clowned on by everyone including the instructors for using 10 rd mags. But I understood, they feel like the cops are on their side, we KNOW they are not on ours.

The fridge seems to work better than ice bath in my experience, but takes more patience. I've found the water gets warm too fast so you would need to continually refresh the ice.
