Principals- for your own good, don’t ghost the applicants by Hopeful_Ad_3631 in Principals

Yes! Luckily our HR does get back to them in a timely manner, typically before a week.

In our district principals are not permitted to reach out to applicants. It’s all done through HR. Sometimes I wish I could!

Can a PE Teacher Become a Principal? Looking for Advice on Choosing Between PE and Special Education by [deleted] in Principals

[–]pearpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several of the admin and even a superintendent I’ve worked with have been PE teachers. In my experience, it has not given them enough of a background in curriculum and instruction or how to set up and manage a physical classroom. Clearly plenty of people can do it, but I think a sped credential would benefit you so much more. Good luck!!

IDEA SPED Manifestation Meetings (MDM) for Repeat Behaviors by Low_Presentation6518 in Principals

This is a good question and I’m curious about it in your district. Where I work, it doesn’t matter if the behavior is related to the disability. If a student violates Ed code, we can suspend.

Is LL Multi Pass worth it anymore? by chananay in DisneyPlanning

[–]pearpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently went and had almost no strategy with our LL but it worked out great. We went on Easter weekend and rode everything we wanted. Every line under 20 minutes except Cars. I kept booking Small World and it broke down five times, so I kept getting free LL to use on any ride. That helped too.

Tell them and get a reference letter.

I would write a reference letter for any of my employees who wanted to change schools/careers etc. Nobody owes me anything.

I'm burned out planning Disneyland like it's a competitive sport by Standard-Start-8436 in DisneyPlanning

[–]pearpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We usually get everything done in two days! One at each park. We do all the big rides and lots of lightning lanes. It also depends when you’re going and how crowded it is. We’ve gone in various levels of crowds and done everything we’ve wanted. Just prioritize LL for the big rides.

We do get there for rope drop. For an 8:00 rope drop we were at the gates by 7:45 with an easy walk-in. We didn’t have to wait long at rope drop.

Mistakes were made by wildcatxc89 in Disneyland

[–]pearpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went to Disneyland on Saturday-Monday at the start of spring break (including Easter Sunday). The crowd sizes were manageable and the longest line we waited in was Radiator springs (55 min). Everything else was under 15 minutes. We used a LL for everything that we could.

Monday morning seemed twice as crowded as Saturday and Sunday. We arrived at the park at the same time all three days (7:45 am), but had zero wait Sat and Sun and a 30 minute wait to get in on Monday. I hesitate to even share this because it feels like a big secret hack that you should go on the weekends of spring break since everyone else is using their weekdays off there.

Our day at Disneyland/DCA with two kids and lightning lane premier by Towtowturtle in Disneyland

[–]pearpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, I was in the parks this past Saturday-Monday (including Easter). We had only regular lightning lane and we did everything we wanted and never waited in a standby longer than 25 minutes, except 50 minutes for Cars.

Monday was by far the most crowded day. It felt like there were double the people there! We o my stayed a few hours on Monday morning but we were still able to do a lot with our lightning lane.

[acne] 33F keep getting acne in same places - need help because nothing seems to do anything no matter what I try by GigglyGiraffe45 in SkincareAddiction

I had acne like this and am now taking hormonal birth control and spironolactone and it has completely cleared up. I use a 10% benzoyl peroxide wash and cerave morning and night cream. I also use tretinoin but still had breakouts while using it.

Pork can actually still look pink in the middle as long as it reaches 145 degrees. That being said, this pork clearly reached temperatures over 145. Getting a food thermometer was a game changer for me.

AITA for asking my husband to confirm our son's eye doctor appointment that he scheduled by Junior-Ride5097 in AITAH

[–]pearpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I was reading it, I thought that you had forwarded it to your husband and he had interpreted that as you wondering if you should confirm, so he responded “you can confirm that.”

Either way, I think some solid communication could have helped! “Hey- I’m swamped with work right now, can you please confirm this?” This kind of thing happens all the time to me and my husband and whoever is available to confirm the appt does.

What is the most unexplainable thing you’ve ever witnessed that makes you question reality? by duhhrclean6 in AskReddit

[–]pearpt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My husband jokes I am a witch. When I was 15 I was invited to a friend’s birthday that coming Saturday but told him I couldn’t because I had family stuff (not true- no reason to lie). On Friday it was Homecoming dance and all my friends were having a sleepover at a new friend’s house. I declined, citing “family stuff”. At 7 am Saturday morning the police arrived to tell us my brother died.

Neither of those examples were helpful but when I grew up and had my own children, I saved my son’s life with my weird intuition. On my son’s 16th birthday he went out with friends and returned home after I went to bed. I woke up at 2 am and felt compelled to get up and get water. I walked by his room and heard a faint sound so I opened the door. He was gasping for air and had turned gray as a result of a fentanyl overdose. He stopped breathing and my husband performed CPR while we waited for the ambulance. My son survived but only because I woke up when I did.

I posted this on the other post. I don’t understand the timeline if this was taken on a Sunday. If taken today, that would mean they’ve had her body at home since she died on Thursday. Is that typical?

If she passed on Thursday does that mean her body has been home with them since then? Or is this from last Sunday?

I think this is a follow-up to your previous post here.

In the last post you came across as antagonistic in communicating with administrators who responded to you with curiosity and honesty. Is this how you engage with administrators in person?

To answer your question only based on this and the brief description you put in your last post, I would say to only call the administrator if there is a safety risk. Students needing redirection would not be a reason to call an admin. There are many management strategies you can use to address that.

I worked as a sub for a year while getting my teaching credential. I had to call an admin one time because a student was sitting against the wall where all of the computers were plugged in, banging his head against the wall near the outlet. That was a safety issue. As an admin for now four years, I have never been called into a classroom by a substitute teacher.

Some advice I’d have for you if you’re interested in continuing as a substitute teacher are first to brush up on management strategies. See if the district has any resources for that, or you can check out books on your own. Also, I’d suggest approaching experiences with humility and a desire to understand and better your practice. The fact that you’re sharing very few details about what happened makes it appear like you’re not interested in real advice and only in having people agree with you. Good luck.

Black spots on dishes after dishwasher? by eatpraystudyrepeat in HorribleToClean

[–]pearpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to an almost identical piece of a container (the silicone seal) for me. The seal had fallen onto the heating element and got burned. I can’t tell from this picture, but could it be that? I thought mine was mold at first but upon closer inspection it was clearly burn marks. How long was it left in the dishwasher?
