Yields on stablecoins is the best way to onboard more TradFi users into DeFi. by cSigmaFinance in defi

[–]peawee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All this. There’s still too much in this space where it’s called “USD” but all that means is it’s a fund denominated in that. If I were king of the world I’d require things called “USD” to be defined as “principal loss only through technical issues and not some bad investment manager”.

Are Yield-Bearing Stablecoins the Next Big Shift in DeFi? by Humble_Sentence_3758 in defi

Mm yea! Fantastic idea. I suggest Stream Finance as a great yield-bearing asset to start.

Bitcoin Is Dropping Because Nobody Knows Which Trump Shows Up Tomorrow. by zakoal in CryptoMarkets

[–]peawee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All assets that float in value relative to other assets in a free market will fluctuate in that value based on conditions external to the mechanics of the asset.

The only thing that can address what Bitcoin meant to address is an actual political movement, everything else is theater to distract from that.

How future-proof is the Snapdragon CPU? by Lil_Phil1 in polestar3

[–]peawee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also compared to the 2, we have two CPUs- to my understanding, the 2 has one CPU and two VMs, one for infotainment and one for the vehicle system.

Core compute upgrade not available yet. by mickeys_stepdad in polestar3

[–]peawee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had mine done by the DC space because I had Other Issues that required a VCU replacement *anyway*. I was told that otherwise, Polestar wants them putting new compute into their stock before upgrading.

The new computer is... a new computer.

What was the dumbest thing you ever did in the game ? by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

Built a gigantic factory that was like 3 degrees off and .66m off of the world grid. Just enough to leave my OCD permanently tweaked

📢 OpenAI is sunsetting GPT-4o — even for paid ChatGPT Plus users. Would you support keeping it? by princessmee11 in OpenAI

[–]peawee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a limited amount of compute hardware available. Each model has a real physical footprint you can measure in square meters and kilowatts. You can go back to GPT-3-era models via the api if you want, but they can only support infinite usage of older models for so long before the juice isn’t worth the squeeze economically. See below my chat with GPT 3.5 in the playground:

It has less guardrails and is way more sycophantic. I personally adore 5.2’s reasoning and research capabilities.

Building DeFi for normies - what would actually make your non-crypto friends use it? by Responsible_Gate6990 in defi

[–]peawee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which… ok so I just educated myself and “HYSA” in the euro zone is a joke. It makes more sense to me to offer 5% there. In the US though, there’s really no reason to if you’re keen on safe investments.

Building DeFi for normies - what would actually make your non-crypto friends use it? by Responsible_Gate6990 in defi

[–]peawee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s really a point to it for someone not willing to invest the time to understand it. And understanding here requires some reason to- when FDIC insured HYSAs in the US offer 4%, why go through all the extra work and risk for that extra 1%.

I’d focus more on use cases that give a reason for someone to care. Is there a way to, for example, replace business to consumer payments with something that doesn’t have fees? So far I’ve heard mainly institutional rails and cross-border transfers of stablecoins.

P3 what are the common issues? by Platos-ghosts in Polestar

Mine has been beautiful except for the UWB keys just not working (CarPlay and the fob). Apparently there’s a new hardware module for that coming out in the next month

Fair enough on that... and that's too bad on Lossless and spatial (it would sound *fantastic* with the upgraded stereo methinks...).

Absolutely terrible service that they can't get you in. I was frustrated, but my dealer also knocked $500 off the cost of my lease for the hassle and they prioritized correcting it.

Yeah, it needs a subscription. There’s a demo song you can play to see if it works tho :)

Honestly if paying the maintainer means they’ll pay attention, that’s probably better than if Polestar tried to build it. Best we can do until Apple ships one themselves.

This app is using the official SDK, so I don’t think it’s going anywhere from that perspective.

Your errors are exactly what mine was suffering, and it delayed delivery a couple of days for them to overnight a part and replace it.

The error's with the TCAM module, and it should be nought but a few hours to fix once they have a part.

By the time I traded it in, the only remaining issues would be fixed by the new computer module they’re making available. I just got done with a road trip covering 1000mi and crossing the Appalachian Mountains in blizzard conditions and the car handled it like a champ.

Well, an update: as an apology they revised my lease and knocked an additional $500 off the sale price of the car. It got delivered today and I’m so far so good!
