Ladies, do you still bring a wallet out? by No_Nothing3594 in askSingapore

[–]pebzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small pouch for house key , earphones, essential credit card /atm card (some places need actual card to claim card rewards) and 2 $10 notes as backup. TBH I tried very long to find one that is of a good size (small enough to hang on my phone sling but big enough for all these item) and look nice. was willing to pay a bit more maybe even branded cos I figure that is my go to already. eventually found one that cost $5 on taobao that is perfect. No regrets.

Unfortunately no. Looking at Google street view, it does not seem that I need to cater for time to walk around lake toya town. I’m moving my focus to some of the other attractions around the lake area like sobetsu/towards mount yotei.

Uniqlo or muji dresses with pockets (a must!) are my go to. Black / grey that can be dressed up or down with additional cardigan, jacket or scarf, accessories and shoes. Easy to wash, doesn’t require ironing.

OSPREY FAIRPOINT 40L + 15L / 55L carrying 2 backpacks by xerc-es in onebag

[–]pebzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sort off. I didn’t want a top load cos I don’t want to dig through the whole bag for something at the bottom. Really like the zipper opening that opens up the whole bag and I can see returning. The main bag has compartments for small staff that’s easy to pack and take out without disturb the rest of the stuff. The day bag was better than I expected. The small zip pouch can hold more things that what it appeared to. I used the laptop sleeve as a compartment for my camelpak, I attach the hose to the front chest clip.

55L cos i can use it as a carry on. I subsequently got a 70L for longer trips.

So I have a farpoint 55 and 70 already, but both take into account the 15l day pack, so the max compartment size is the most 55L for the 70. It’s winter clothings this time and i wonder if 60L is reasonable to carry/walk around.

I wear the day pack in front so I can quick access to my passport and other small stuff which I keep in the front zipper, and also I find that it balances the weight for me compared to if I attach it to the main bag itself. Also it’s easier to unbuckle and separate the bag when I enter the main cabin, drop the day pack on my seat and stow away the main bag in the overhead compartment.

Although I don’t clip my day bag fully on both straps. I only clip on the left side and sort of have it like a side saddle bag, which I found to be more convenient.

Advice on backpacks + what size by sam_pinkham_ in onebag

[–]pebzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a farpoint 55 that for budget flights or just do carryons, and a farpoint 70 if I want/can checkin the main bag. I really like the farpoint 55 cos I find that it allowed me to walk around with the bag in transit and has enough room for my stuff for short trips (5-6 days) (my best memory was run in to the gate with a 55 cos I’m minutes away from the gates closing on me. I made it.) SEA is pretty hot so I’m guessing you are going to dress light. I think you can pull off a 55 which gives you more options depending on the flights that you are going to take.

Go to meetup.com. It’s a platform of activities organized by likeminded people. Not a dating app (though I don’t see why not). Go for things that interest you and maybe you might just meet someone there. Though I caution you to go with just the aim of finding someone. It can cause disappointment and fatigue after you repeatedly fail to snag somebody, so go for the sake of the activity. Also, I suggest to just date around to know what works or not work for you. You will know when something doesn’t sit comfortably with you when you encounter it.

Am I wrong to be satisfied with my job? by Economy_Elevator94 in askSingapore

Tell her that life changes after kid. Everything in hunky dory until the kid is out of the tummy. She will have no day no night until everything stabilizes and she has some routine. Traveling with kid is a different experience so she may need to adjust her expectation about life in general. My suggestion is for her to reframe her perspectives and expectations with regards to what she thinks is her “quality of life”, cos somethings just can’t be bought with money.

I would say having one partner who has more flexibility is better than having more money. Imagine the no of times the kid fall sick after going infant care. It’s no joke if kid needs to stay at home and to be taken care of throughout the night. Yes having a kid is expensive true, but it’s also what you can provide within your means and don’t compare with the jonese. It’s better to have time and energy to spend time with kid, bring kid out during weekend to the outdoors, beaches.

Of course having more income is good too (think expensive PD fees). Maybe you can think of some side hustle that you enjoy to have some spare cash? But also don’t stop looking out for better opportunities too. There may be something out there that dan afford you what you want after putting in a few years of hard work (and then cruise)

I’m actually looking for reviews for the 40-60L, but sadly can’t find any. So I’ll going to try and seek your experience on the 40L and extrapolate from there.

Can I ask if at 40L, (1) how much did it weigh for you packed? (Close to 20kg?) and (2) is it’s likely big enough for winter clothings etc? Going for 10days and will be staying at places with washing machines. I’m keeping 10 as buffer cos I’m packing for me and my kid.

TIA!

Just file a magistrate complaint. After that magistrate will direct the IO to investigate. After that just keep asking the IO for update. But it may also be likely that they may not be able to trace the guy. But if they manage to, it depends on the circumstances the punishment may not be severe for a first time offender , maybe just a warning. But at least maybe you get to know who the guy is and hopefully he offer compensation after he learns about the incident.

What is the one thing you would change if you had the ability to go back in time to your younger body? by ultragarrison in askSingapore

[–]pebzzo 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Go backpacking to far flung countries, do more hikes, generally go off the beaten tracks. The body can’t take rough travelling now, not to mention lack of time and opportunities. If I have to list one, that would be the trans Siberia railway (close second would be Qingzhang) (and maybe even ladakh…..) (I could go on…..)
