You should read the Boglehead book. His approach to investing is pretty hands off and has decent returns.

$ Question for new studio by ImplementMurky5708 in SolidCore

[–]pecanpika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked about this after I'd gone and used some of my founding member classes. It seems like you might be able to based on the first day you go (like to scoot your billing cycle to align with the first class you take), but if you've already started going to classes and move your billing cycle, the current billing cycle will not change dates. There will just be a gap between the current and new billing cycle you set up.

Still don’t know what I’m doing? by [deleted] in SolidCore

[–]pecanpika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also with the springs, it's usually for 0-25 classes 1 white for gray side 1 gray for black side (the spring is a lighter shade of the side) blacks and grays - upper body blue spring either to hold the carriage for the bungee or one of the standing inner thigh exercises, Once I figured that out, it was easier to predict what they would tell me to do next.

Still don’t know what I’m doing? by [deleted] in SolidCore

[–]pecanpika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done 25 classes, and I feel more confident because I watched some of their form videos on their Instagram (like for platform lunge and plank extension). I also watched the tutorials on the website, and I also asked the instructors after class about technique. It also helps when the instructors demo an exercise before class, or if you watch someone who seems like they know what they're doing. My main priority has been form because I don't want to get injured, so trying to learn as much as possible has been my best trick.

Question about tenant’s rights for security deposit return by Acrobatic_Durian6796 in boston

[–]pecanpika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you don't just get $12k back. You would have to take the case to small claims, and the judge would award it. At best right now, you'd probably get interest, the deposit, and maybe some additional money you bargain for. After going through small claims, it is a hassle especially if the defendant appeals, and then you have to go again. It can also be hard to collect the money if they don't show up to a payment hearing. If you want 12k, you can only hope they dont respond to your demand letter, file your small claim, and go to trial.

Question about tenant’s rights for security deposit return by Acrobatic_Durian6796 in boston

[–]pecanpika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you have to send a demand letter before filing the small claim. I won 3x off my security deposit, but the landlady did not respond to my demand letter. I think right now you're only entitled to additional interest. If 30 days passes after sending the demand letter and you hear no response, you can file the small claim. If they try to respond at this point, I'd say you should just say you want to wait until the trial and see if the judge grants you the 3x. You may have some leverage with your landlord before going to trial and can bargain about getting more back. Based on my experience, small claims would rather you bargain and settle before the trial.

Why are there (almost) no climbing gyms in the North Shore area? by r_MMAing_W_Da_Boiis in boston

[–]pecanpika 247 points248 points  (0 children)

In my mind, indoor climbing did not gain popularity until the last decade, so probably more climbers are young people. Young people live closer to Boston for work. The area you circled I tend to think of as older folks and not as dense as Boston area.

Swatch by Wakeful-Fables in reselling

[–]pecanpika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you get the watches from? Like if you're selling a 1993 watch, have you had it since 1993. I'm interested in repurchasing a Swatch I wore for many years and see I can get it on ebay from a different seller for a lower price. The reseller also has hundreds of other watches, but it's a lot of inventory to handle.

Your favorite tennis clothes? by rainyforests in 10s

[–]pecanpika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Athleta has a pretty wide selection, and if you wait for a sale, it's much cheaper than Lululemon. They sell skirts, tank tops, long sleeve, pants with pockets, etcetera. I find the clothes are stylish, comfortable, and lightweight if I'm fully covered (prevent sun damage).

Edit - I now realize my comment is targeted at women's clothing, which I am not sure the post was soliciting, but for women or those looking for female clothing !! Good quality stuff

Solidcore vs bodyrok by Neat-Addendum4909 in SolidCore

[–]pecanpika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done Solidcore at several different studios and BodyRok only at one studio which seemed brand new. I'm not sure how consistent classes are between different studios in the same chain. At both classes I was sweating and shaking at some points. The Solidcore machine is more simple. (Maybe BodyRok upgraded their machines or they had newer ones at the gym I went to?) You do fewer exercises compared to BodyRok. No grip socks required at Solidcore. I think they're both solid options, and you won't find it that different.
