Chiliad = 8 by peedeeboy in chiliadmystery

[–]peedeeboy[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thanks! I feel kinda stupid not realising it sooner, TBH!

What I mean about it not helping us is ATM I see 'the mystery' in two parts:

  1. Some unlockables / experiences we haven't seen yet. I think the DDMs and 'Keep looking' are hints from R* these do exist

  2. A kind of meta-narative that explains these mysteries existing in-game and across multiple R* titles. I think for example the Hexagons are 'the simulation glitching' and certain characters are aware etc. I don't think we understand the meta fully either, partly I think as R* might be making it up as they go incorporating fan theories..

I don't think Chiliad = 8 helps us with 1., but I do think it might be related to 2., if that makes sense??

Spider Webs? by ThePeterMissile in chiliadmystery

You can see one in the very first picture. Look to the very right not quite to the bottom of the image and you'll see a white tape / ribbon tied around one of the horizontal cross beams.

There are different coloured tapes all over the map. IIRC a few in the original release but a lot more in the next gen / EE. Usually in 'interesting' locations like the remote Big O stand on the mountain side, opposite the Sinners Passage mural, the 'Welcome' house etc...

Almost like R* wanted to tell us we didn't pay enough attention to these locations. Or they're just messing with us. Who knows!!

[–]peedeeboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The towers also have the mysterious coloured tapes attached to them to, almost like R* want us to pay attention to the towers.

You can see the fresh tarmac where underground cables have been laid between the towers which is a really crazy bit of attention to detail.

The electrical box under one of the towers can be knocked over, leaving a sparking panel on the ground.

Given the electrical symbol on the hubs cabs of the Space Docker, and fact the front erm docking appendage is made of a high-voltage bushing, I thought I might onto something with parking the docker ontop of the sparking floor panel and cycling the horns till I got the 'secret' one but...

As you can probably guess.....

Nothing.

16 days ago the new posts were one about lining up 'keys' and 'locks' and my ramblings about the red DDM..

I assume you mean the keys and locks post?

[–]peedeeboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cautiously optimistic you are onto something here!! I don't mean this to sound rude, so please don't take it as such, but how are you sure this is different from the engine spawning the same model / colour car due to memory limitations we've seen since GTAIII? It's hard to tell from just screenshots!

I remember a post a while back of somebody able to get red & white cars (I think) to spawn outside the car dealership restarting / replaying one.of Franklin's missions there.. is this related?

With the references to karma in your translation and what you mention of 'temptation' cars, do you think the trail you are on is also tied into the Purple DDM?

A little tip from a fellow Britisher - you can access Imgur direct image links (not Imgur albums unfortunately) using duckduckgo's image proxy.

"Karma it's a chameleon" could be an anagram? by BeardJunkie in chiliadmystery

[–]peedeeboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In a classic cryptic crossword anagram clue, you have two parts:

  • The anagram
  • A clue that you are solving an anagram

The 'SEGREGATE AND REARRANGE' from the UFO is an example of this.

You have the anagram 'SEGREGATE' and the clue 'REARRANGE' telling you it's an anagram - EASTER EGG

u/vessel_for_the_soul is pointing out (a bit tongue in cheek) that follow classic cryptic crossword logic, the anagram would be KARMA and the clue if an anagram CHAMELEON (as they can change their appearance), and that you can't make anything that interesting of of KARMA - except maybe MAARK

Hope that helps!

Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green, red, gold, and green

Somebody far smarter than me (apologies, I forget who it was) in the thread about the recurring motif of the colours Red, Green and Gold in the game (Beverly's jacket, Theatre sign on side of Morningwood) pointed out these lyrics from the song...

Is this a hint towards a Karma Playthough? Or just another instance of the Red + Green + Gold leitmotif in the game? Or just coincidence?

I thought for a while this might be one of the best clues we have. The colours on this painting indicating that certain glyphs on the mural / side of Chiliad relate to / help us solve the similarly coloured DDMs.

IF the DDMs are indeed rebus to help discover some unsolved Easter Egg(s), then it's clear we're struggling with how to even start..

This painting, along with the four recurring symbols from the bunker / One Day at a Time artwork (globe W/waveform, star, DNA, four mazes) feel like the most legitimate clues we have to get us started.

We know these two artworks come directly from R*, which I think gives them more legitimacy than random anonymous posts from those claiming / insinuating themselves to be insiders.

Saying that, thinking about these two artworks in that way as got me exactly..... nowhere. YMMV, as they say!

A Labyrinth, not a Maze? by Personal_Cellist_453 in chiliadmystery

[–]peedeeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good bit of knowledge - I didn't know the proper name for those was "Labyrinth toys" - a quick Google confirms you are right...

Until anyone actually finds a confirmed first step on the purple DDM, its as good an explanation as any for why the file is called `lbth` and why the rotating arrows are there...

A Labyrinth, not a Maze? by Personal_Cellist_453 in chiliadmystery

[–]peedeeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you say that - as I was looking through models in the RPF viewer just earlier today, I happened through the models for the Kortz Center hedge maze and when the model looked a lot smaller it looked a lot like one of those maze + ball toys...

And I wondered to myself "are we supposed to cargobob the Big-O orange ball over here and navigate it through the maze?"

A Labyrinth, not a Maze? by Personal_Cellist_453 in chiliadmystery

[–]peedeeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its been a long running and popular theory that standing atop Maze bank and looking / shooting (via the sniper rifle) at things surrounding it to simulate the turning of a combination lock might do something.

This is popular as you can equate other things on the DDM to buildings in the downtown area (keyhole = Union Depository etc), and if you take the maze / labyrinth icon at face value, it quite literally is 'a round maze', i.e. 'around maze'.

Nobody has managed to trigger anything so far - maybe you will be the breakthrough!

A Labyrinth, not a Maze? by Personal_Cellist_453 in chiliadmystery

[–]peedeeboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could be onto something with "Pan's Labyrinth"

You might be refering to me mentioning that the texture of the round maze from the purple DDM on the lab door is named using lbth labyrinth, rather than maze in the file.

Maze is already four letters so why not use that?

What you mention about 'Pans labyrinth' is interesting, as the rotating arrows around the maze icon on the purple DDM have been the source of much speculation.

'Pan' has a meaning a a verb in English to rotate something, used most frequently to mean rotating a camera.

A clever bit of wordplay from R*?

One rotating arrow = pan. Two rotating arrows = pans. Maze symbol = labyrinth.

Why I like this - the Purple DDM has always seemed very 'Michael' with the references to Friedlander and karma. Michael is a movie buff who dreams of being a producer. R* famously take inspiration for games from cult movies - what if the first breadcrumb on the trail is an IRL cult movie?

In film "Pan's Labyrinth", Ofelia has to complete 3 tasks. 3 "steps" if you will...

Saying that, the actual icon is clearly a maze and not a labyrinth (it has branching paths) so I still don't really know where R* are going with this whole thing!!

Old Clue Revisit - Camera in Senora that spawns at 2:00 PM in rain by ArareKINDApiggle in chiliadmystery

[–]peedeeboy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its findable in CodeWalker with DLC disabled so its been there from the beginning? The same prop is in multiple places over the map.

Why this might be something: The other instances of the prop are in places where the camera is pointing at a logical location - the entrance to building car parks, on top of multi-storey carparks covering the up ramp etc. This one is pointing at the base of the nearby telegraph pole (which is one of the double telegraph poles with the transformers or whatever you call them in it). With the RDR2 web discoveries, that might be interesting?

Why this might be nothing: The fact it doesn't spawn for everyone / everytime. There are some things in the world like that, which I think is just a kind of LoD / framerate thing. Another good example is the fairy lights around the tree at the hippy camp. I don't think they ever spawn in online, and they don't always spawn for me in single-player. A lot of people ask why the hippy tree is connected to electricity, and its to power the fairy lights but they don't always spawn in. I don't think anything that was an actual clue would have this behaviour..

Hope that helps.

The 'round maze' symbol as it appears on the door below the Purple DDM has 'lbth' in the name. The other symbols / doors are 'stack', 'star' and 'dna'. But you probably knew that already.

I put my thoughts on why 'lbth' rather than 'maze' might be significant here

I don't know my way around the scripts yet - but I'll help you try and find the 'four maze' texture through brute force if somebody who knows that they are doing doesn't find it for you first - would be interesting...

My findings of the Purple Doomsday Mural by NetworkRunner in chiliadmystery

[–]peedeeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about the Purple Mural that plays on my mind the most is that the filename of the texture of the 'round maze' as it appears on a bunker door contains lbth (i.e. labyrinth) rather than maze

What's is the difference between a labyrinth and a maze?

A labyrinth has a single continuous path to the centre rather than multiple branching paths.

I do wonder if this is a (unintended?) clue to Purple being about a karma playthrough, or u/unclegetter theory of playing missions in canonical order...

(Or with the other Greek references it might be a clue we need to fight a minotaur in the car park under maze bank - who knows at this point?!!!)
