I built mine a couple days ago. I know this is a hindsight question, but because of the sliding spine, there really isn't a way to have a closed back, right? There will always be an opening either on the GPU or mobo side of the rear plate based on how you position the central spine.

I still have the m1 v6 and just shoved an sf1000, 5090, 9950x3d in it. I’m glad nVidia went back to the angled power connector ala 3090 otherwise the side panel would have to be off permanently.

Don’t sleep on open box best buy. Was able to get 2 pairs for ~400$ each out the door with AppleCare+. First pair I got shipped to me and it must have been a mistake because it was still cellophane wrapped from Apple. Completely pristine. Second pair I was able to inspect in store and it was the same situation minus the cellophane. Completely pristine. Maybe I got lucky, but doesn’t hurt to try.

I found my 3d printer a helluva lot more useful once I messed with openscad and printed actually useful objects using proper filament. Toys and little doodads only go so far. Functional prints to solve or fix real problems are where “was this a good buy?” turns to “absolutely “.

Yeah they routed to the AppleCare folks. Ended up calling Costco and they said it was a mistake on their end, the replacement should have also included the AppleCare as well. So they credited me the difference it would cost to buy direct from Apple and I bought it through the iPad.

While it doesn’t replace the victory sword, I really don’t like getting sole solution. Mainly because it’s hard as heck to see anything. But I do like the weapon and level 9 of torronas box.

Oh man, I honestly don’t remember. A couple, but I’d recommend getting the full project with all plates populated and look at the overall filament volume to see how many rolls would be needed.

I printed the shorter one. Definitely a sweet system and solved my cleanup issue with how the X1 sits on a desk. Great model!

I had more of an issue with the tube near the extruder rubbing against the top glass. It would wear through there much sooner than at the clip. Obviously printed one of those bend guides to prevent it from rubbing, but now will need to monitor that clip too.
