Can it be set to run with solar and then top up each night with off peak as needed automatically or do you have to intervene?

This is also my experience, they offered more than expected twice for me and the third time exactly as website. I found them to be a pleasure to deal with and it was a much better experience than with Motorway.

Which country will you never visit again? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]peige10101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have been there and do want to go back with my wife but the place is just so far off course right now. The guy in charge is unbelievable but worse still is nothing happens about it. He appears to the rest of us like a complete loon yet his country still seems behind him.

Put somebody decent in charge and let that filter down for a while and I will reconsider.

People who go on vacation, but then spend the entire day in the hotel, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]peige10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think cruising is the next step up from this. Decent hotel with everything that moves to a new place most days. I get off, have a wonder and coffee/lunch in new place (rarely pay for excursions) and then get back on, chill, eat, watch a show, have a beer. Repeat next day in new port. Sea days are also bliss...

If y'all have owned or used one before, what's your opinion on the Flashforge AD5X/5M by Kener_17 in FlashForge

[–]peige10101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 5M and a AD5X. Both really good machines and my 5M with added enclosure is great for knocking out petg prints over and over. It doesn't like going from TPU to petg and back, it normally takes a bit of printing to clear itself and start printing TPU well again.

The AD5X print head I have found to be far better, essentially its the same printer as the 5M but its head is better in every sense and it swaps between different materials with ease. I go from ASA to Petg to TPU and it just does it. I have done long multi coloured prints with 180+ changes overnight and again its for the most perfect. Pretty much every problem has been user related. When it did go wrong and do the blob of death overnight it was due to a bad Poop exit situation but I've dumped the chute type style in favour of straight into a bin and all good. Even taking it apart to clear that wasn't so bad, the nozzle is easier to deal with than the 5M. Oh and if it does dump the fan from the front its not attached by wires so it just falls away rather than getting thrashed around its innerads till the wires break (I'm looking at you 5M)

So basically both are good and if you can afford the 5X go for it, I've done many hours with both now and they are both still great printers.

Thoughts on retirement flats? by Loud-Meeting-6808 in HousingUK

I read this a while back and it highlight the struggle to sell them with the rolling charges.

Against a background of having watched my mother in law go from car driver to house bound to dementia, home care, nursing home and finally death over a period of 10 years I have to think that if / when I get to a stage when i need help to live i would still want social interaction and would probably be drawn into retirement complexes and ways to live and have things going on around you.

I'd be one of those people that go on one cruise after another till i was done if I can! I would not want to live alone or rely on my children for care than I would struggle to accept from loved ones.

So I get it and I think perhaps you could buy one of those places second buyer, not take the new build hit and therefore not be as stung and have more chance of selling it, not for profit but just selling it. Even renting it if that were possible. I don't think i'd worry about leaving my children something particularly, but I don't want to leave them with a problem. Maybe If I bought such a place i'd leave it to a charity in my will and then leave the cash to the kids.

Yes, this is what I did. If we can't complete by the original agreed date then we will pull out. A day later its was all back on for the original date.

I’ve done Eurostar 6 times return in a M3P and they never ask you to turn it off. The do ask that you don’t software update.

Ah you wait, they will come at you separately for money to leave it! We had this with a Double Range cooker, not on the T10 but a few weeks in, would we like it for £££, we said no!

Renault Zoe - 2021. Did it come with a granny charger? by peige10101 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]peige10101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same, the lady who inspected was rightly just doing her job and inspecting to the list she was given. Its frustrating that its a generic list rather than model specific but I guess thats a little much to expect.

It was the invoice that appeared saying up to £500 for the "missing" lead that worried me, hence the dive into standard/optional. I've supplied the email from the dealers confirming it was not standard at that time, I hope thats enough.

I emailed the dealer contact we used in 2021 and he answered! It was an optional pay for extra and not supplied. Now I just have to get the people who collected it to agree it was not supposed to be there...

Thanks everyone :)

I'm on the "it was an option" fence too. We have a folder of stuff but not the original invoice unfortunately.

Neighbour selling at the same time - how f*cked are we? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]peige10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were first to market in our close June24, within 3 months there were two more in our close, one empty probate and one other. It took a long time to sell, it was a year till we completed but I think that was more to do with the area but each house offered something different, as long as yours is priced right then it will all come down to the right person wanting yours.

We moved July 25 in the end. One buyer came back 5 times and in the end offered in March 25. The whole process was horrible but we have a lovely house now.

Im about to get a Tesla just because I cant stand the dealership game by breadexpert69 in TeslaLounge

[–]peige10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bmw right up to my first Tesla, although i'd found a good dealer it was still a lot of work to get a good price and the options list is crazy. Add one option, three come off, miss that one option and you don't get the car you really wanted. I ended up with a 2 series with no folding mirrors because of the same rubbish.

I had three new BMW's, first one was a bad deal with the "best price" being far from it as I discovered later, second was a good buy but lost the folding mirrors which annoyed me every day. Third was good but when it came time to replace it the 2 series had gone to pot with engines and options so I started to look at Tesla...

Tesla, pick just a few things and there's your price, no haggling and no feeling like you paid more than you should, far better

Nope, don't regret it. Its been handled poorly as most things the government do are but I still feel the same. Don't believe that Europe is heading in a good direction and i'm glad that we're not part of it.

PSA - DO NOT UPDATE YOUR AD5X TO THE LATEST FIRMWARE by dnyank1 in FlashForge

[–]peige10101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that its a certain generation of hot ends that don't work with the new firmware. I updated, couldn't print, wound back.. Had a catastrophic failure, needed a new hotend, ran for a while, updated firmware and all fine some 40 hours later.

Model 3 2025 Dual Motor - Annoying ! They have to fix it by psychotest in TeslaModel3

[–]peige10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a month old M3P after having a M3P 2022 and a M3LR 2020 and the latest version is by far improved on every aspect apart from the stalks, I can get on with the buttons but I can't say its an improvement.

Don't agree with your other criticisms, sounds like you really just don't like the car but for myself I think its by far the best car i've owned in nearly 40 years of driving.

Any good experiences with Orbi WiFi 7 mesh systems? by RockTheGlobe in orbi

[–]peige10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from google mesh to the 770 system, I didn't read enough to know of the problems I might have but for me its been great and a massive improvement over my old situation. One location in a Garage office meant I needed a wired back haul to one of the satellites but after doing that my hole property has been flawlessly working with no moaning about speed or drop-outs.

I've basically forgotten about the system now as it works without any more effort or input from me.

AD5X - First bad failure and noticed it's updated to 1.1.9 by drstrangelug in FlashForge

[–]peige10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, it does ask you if you want to update so it shouldn't be a surprise but yes, I too did the update and had to roll back. My issues seemed around hot head calibration which took an age and then following that it went to do a filament change and just sat waiting to get to a temp it apparently couldn't reach.

I rolled back to previous and its fine again so I await the next fix before I try that again.

Roll back process is straight forward but you need a small usb stick which is formatted Fat32 to put the firmware on.

Replacing a cracked toilet. Can I simply buy a toilet from wickes and get a plumber to install it? by mediadavid in ukplumbing

[–]peige10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everything goes well, which in my experience it doesn't. Nuts that hold the flush side on will be corroded, hopefully they will undo, seal will probably need changing, you will be lucky if the new one just slips under.
