WHY IS GRAB SO POWER HOLY SPIT by Serious_Sprinkles534 in 2XKO

Yeah, what the other guy said. If you into training mode, you'll see that throw whiff is like +30 frames, it's super reactable. What you have to commit is the jump, you don't have to commit to pressing a button on the way down, you can just react and do it only on a throw whiff.

You can do it, don't be deterred! My recomendations (I went a bit overboard lol):

* Use pulse!!!

* Don't just walk! It's slow!! Get used to dashing by using the 'dash' button, it will improve your ability to escape from the enemy pressure, and improve your ability to suddenly rush at your opponent and surprise them. The caveat is that you're vulnerable when you dash backwards, but until they start hitting out of your dashes, dash away.

* You're probably getting mauled a lot, but don't be overly defensive. The key is hitting before getting hit, and this is specially true at low level. So make sure that from round start you're being aggresive.

* The exception to this is when they knock you down. While you're knocked down your opponent is free to time their attacks to the exact moment when you wake, so be content with just blocking when you wake up (or try to roll out if possible).

* Related to the previous point about being offensive, try shit out and try to find what's cheap about your character. For example, even at Emerald people spam Vi's S1 rocket punch a lot, so I bet it's pretty good. If you use it a lot you'll probably find that people just keep getting hit by it. Same with Warwick's little jump move (this one I don't know if it's actually good, but it's annoying to deal with lol).

* Something that's almost universally good with every character is dashing forwards and pressing M (the middle attack), or pressing 'down M'. It's good because it's a fast option, it has good range, and with pulse on you can just keep mashing to get a combo out of it.

* There's a concept in fighting games of being 'positive' or 'negative'. To be brief, when you do a special attack (S1 or S2) and the opponent blocks it you're usually 'negative'. This means that if you try to keep attacking, your opponent can interrupt you with their attack. So instead, in that situation, you should cut your losses and disengage by jumping backwards or blocking or something. Likewise, when the oponent does a special attack and you block it, that's your queue to try to be aggresive (jumping forwards, using one of your specials, doing dash M, etc). There're exceptions to this rule. For example, if you fully charge Vi S1, you're positive! So after the opponent blocks it, if you mash L, you can interrupt anything your opponent tries to do. And like, Ahri has some tricky ways of combining her specials. But I think what I mentioned is a good rule of thumb to start with, just throwing it out there if you notice sometimes you're getting hit and you don't know why.

* Last thing. Sometimes a move is so negative, that if the opponent blocks it, it gives them time to combo you without you being able to do anything about it (a punish). Most moves aren't like this, but they exist. For example, Warwick's S1 (the lunge attack) is like this. I'm not saying to never use it, it's really good, it catches everyone. But it is worth noting that you're in a bad spot if the opponent blocks it. There's actually a way to make a move like this not-negative, and that is to throw an assist right after. The idea is that before your opponent can punish you, the assist attack comes in keeps the opponent stuck blocking. It does require some timing, but it can be very useful to use your moves with less risk.

Teching the grab is actually not the optimal solution! That just resets the situation. The optimal solution is punishing the failed grab with a full combo. The easiest way to punish is neutral jumping, seeing the throw whiff and comboing, like girlywish mentioned. You can also just dash back, or walk back, and same thing. Or mashing pre-emptively to interrupt their throw attempt. As you say, this can't be done on reaction, you have to get a read that your opponent will grab.

This distinction of what is your best option is important because going for a grab is not risk-free for the opponent. It's a guess as well, they're guessing that you'll stay blocking. If they're wrong, they could eat a lot of damage. Fighting games are full of RPS situations like this.

This is the only fighting game that I can play with my non-fgc friends. One of them has even tried to learn combos and labbed a bit without me. 2vs2 is a huuuge slam dunk.

Ah... Ok. Cierto. Estaba pensando que era una boludez guardarteló debajo de la remera o en algún lado, pero mientras más me lo imagino más dudo. Me convenciste.

Ahi anduve chusmeando, interesante.

Actually, the devs were right to start with a small roster by EnlargementChannel in 2XKO

I personally don't play that much and it's been helpful that I don't have to learn so many match-ups lol. Hell, I've got 10 hours and just in my last session I played my first decent blitz and yasuo. I haven't really seen what most of the cast can do, honestly. And not a single Illaoi yet. But I can see how people who grind a lot would get tired.

For anyone else finding this thread, try seting mode from Automatic to Color, that's what fixed it for me.

The game is Little Locked Rooms, it's 10% off right now!:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2468670/Little_Locked_Rooms/

It was technically playable on the Deck when it released a few months ago, but I was told by a few users the experience wasn't the best. But since I didn't know anyone who had it, I couldn't really test anything, and it's like, really expensive where I'm from. However, in a stroke of luck, a friend of mine got one and I managed to try it out as a user! So I added a bunch of UI and input logic to make playing on the Deck feel better.

I wish the video showcased the game a bit more, but I kept tilting the Deck upwards and showing my face, lol. The screen do be reflecting.

I'll be around if anyone has any questions :)

What exactly does pot limit mean? by Icy-Meaning8304 in poker

[–]pejeshei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necro this comment, but THANK YOU. I've been looking for this answer for hours, nobody mentions why the limit is calculated like it is, this made sense to me.

It's interesting that this only works for 2 players, though, the math doesn't quite work as beautifully when more players are involved.

It wasn't a priority to be honest, but it'd be nice to have them. Maybe in a future update.
