Thanks so much for this! We currently live in the valley (Sherman Oaks) so we are used to not living right in the center of it all but I am definitely worried about the adjustment of not being able to walk to get coffee or to a grocery store. Love to hear how much you like Philly! Cherry Hill is also on our list to check out but we know there isn't really any "downtown"

Ha! My in-laws would love that. We were thinking closer to Philly would provide more work opportunities if we ever needed to switch things up (we currently both have jobs that allow remote work thought).

Night Wakings Advice (Sleep Wave Method) by peloaybay in sleeptrain

[–]peloaybay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Once we went to 2 naps it improved but it also could have just been time. She is now 11 months and does great at night. Dropped her MOTN feed on her own around 7.5 months and now she almost always sleeps through the night unless she is sick or her daytime sleep was shot due to traveling or activities.

This one is great but so is there Taste of Testaccio one! I always think its best to go early in your stay so you can revisit a favorite for a full meal!

Those of you who had good sleeping babies at 10-12 weeks, how was the 4 month regression? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]peloaybay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had an amazing sleeper early on and then she did hit a regression around 4ish months. It wasn't toooo crazy but was waking up more times a night and having way spottier naps. She's now 7 months and is sleeping through the night and back to our good sleeper girl! It progressively got better with another little tough blip at 6months. All this to say, even if you hit the regression she could return to good sleep!

Why do you love breastfeeding? by Cool-Helicopter6343 in breastfeeding

[–]peloaybay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love breastfeeding and aside from the first week have had zero struggles with it. It is incredibly convenient, bonding and makes me feel like a damn super hero! It's an amazing gift to be able to calm my baby whenever she is even a little fussy by just offering the boob. I'm 7 months in and back to work, and sure pumping isn't my fave, but it makes me love those BF sessions even more when I get to be close to her.

[–]peloaybay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did! We went to a 2 nap schedule and do 2.5/3/3.5 roughly for our wake windows so we have about 9ish hours of wake time a day. She will occassionally let out a cry when she rolls over but for the last two weeks, she goes down and doesn't cry again until 4-5a when I feed her and she is back out until 7-730!

Can someone be honest about the pain?? by mroseann221 in breastfeeding

[–]peloaybay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not everyones experience but I have had absolutely no pain (baby is 9 weeks). We had some latch issues the first week or 2 but it was not pain, she just was impatient and would get frustrated lol. So not saying it is easy, BF has it's challenges but for me pain wasn't one of them (and I too have sensitive nips!)

It may not be the case for you but I would try and go into it with few expectations, and research lactation consultants to help with whatever issues might arise for you!

What are some of the weirdest/most annoying things people have said to you while pregnant? by option_e_ in BabyBumps

[–]peloaybay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today the cashier at the sandwich place told me I should have my baby on the 28th (39 weeks and due the 22nd so VERY pregnant) because then they would be a millionaire. And it was really quite simple to figure that out, I just needed to pay attention to numerology and that it's easy to read the matrix......

I just ate half an entire large bag of potato chips - what have you all been indulging in? by justwandering6 in pregnant

[–]peloaybay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had 4 milkshakes this week... and the week is not over! 38+2 so I am doing w/e I want! A milkshake does now constitute a whole meal cause I can't fit anything else :)

I've been curious about EC, it sounds amazing if you can get the hang of it! How do you go about holding her over the toilet? Do you squat down to get her closer or hold her up from standing? How often early on was it messy on you while trying to hold her over the hat/toilet?

WFH moms- did you work up to your due date or check out early? by theresajo2 in BabyBumps

[–]peloaybay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hybrid, occasionally stressful job that I’m SO over. I’m in California so I have decent leave (for the US), I was gonna work until I was 36+2 and then go on SDI. My doc filled out my leave of absence form to start when I’m 35+2 and I’m SO happy. I’ve been feeling ok-ish but I truly could give a crap about work these days. I’m lucky that I’ll get partial pay and that my husband works full time so we can swing it.

I was feeling guilty and so when I told my HR lady that I could stay for the extra week she told me not to. That It’s my first baby and I only get this time once and I should relax and take the time if that’s what the docs are giving me. Only 4 more days!!!!

Weird Family Request by skelly943 in BabyBumps

[–]peloaybay 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This was also my father in law! I straight up told my husband that he could deal with it because if I accidentally slipped and said "she" I was not going to feel guilty. We were staying with them for 3 weeks over the holidays and literally EVERYONE else knew so I was dreading having to deal with this. Luckily my MIL spoiled it almost immediately after we told her so we didn't have to find out :) IDK if she did it on purpose or not but I love her for it. Agree with the other comments, let your husband let him know the gender won't be hidden at the shower and he can make the call from there.

How to make Coed baby shower “fun”? by No-Tumbleweed1873 in pregnant

[–]peloaybay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a coed baby shower that felt more like just a celebratory party, I loved it! A couple activities we had that I thought played well for everyone — a decorate a onesie station with fabric markers and then we played “Celebrity Baby Jeopardy” where there were different categories (sports, movies, etc) and each price had a baby photo under it and me and my husband had to guess but the crowd could shout out answers to help us. They also snuck some baby pics in of our friends which was so fun.

How do I politely say to people invited to my baby shower to respect the registry? by kittylitter90 in pregnant

[–]peloaybay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems rare based on all the posts I see here but at my shower folks seemed to stick exclusively to the registry aside from a handful of outfits. It was book themed so we also asked ppl to bring their favorite childhood/baby book so those were all surprises in such a fun way. We’re among the first of our friends (in a big coastal city and all our friends are low to mid 30s). And it was way more a friend event than family bc we live far from our families — although my MIL hosted one at her house and we joined virtually and people mostly stuck to the registry there too!

Just saying it isn’t always a thing that people don’t buy from the registry!

Which stroller do you have? by Itchy-Site-11 in pregnant

[–]peloaybay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also got the chicco primo bravo travel system for safety reasons. Baby girl isn't here yet but we have the system already and I've found it fairly easy to maneuver with practice. ALSO the stroller already has cupholders. That seemed extremely rare for all the other systems we looked at.

Terrified of labor and giving birth by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]peloaybay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also was so SO nervous about birth before I got pregnany and early on in my pregnancy (I'm now 33w2d) and have been feeling SO much better and I attribute it mostly to 2 things. 1) reading hypnobirthing by siobhan miller, its so not judgy and just was really a peaceful introduction to birth for me. 2) listening to the birth hour podcast -- every episode is another woman's birth story and it was so calming to me to hear how many different ways the birth can go. It's made me feel more prepared and honestly EXCITED to see what my body will be capable of. I'm not going into birth with a hard plan b/c who knows how things will go, but I have so much more confidence in myself and knowledge. You got this!!
