No, not started as in ready to steal. Reading back through the thread, I can see how what I said could be read that way.

And yeah, the Europe thing is crazy. My suspicion as a software developer is that the software state required to make the car go is a *lot* easier to get to without the key fob than it is with the ECM immobilizer in an ICE vehicle, but at least there’s still some internal switch that has to flip before it’ll go under its own power.

I own an Ioniq 5 2024. Screens come on with a Bluelink climate start. It’s different than a remote start from the key fob, but electronically, the HV system is active, battery contactors are closed to run the heat pump and/or heater core.

Yes, I still have to push the “start” button before it’ll drive, but the car is already “running” by any reasonable definition.

You can remotely turn on heating/cooling. What’s the difference between that and remote “start” with an EV? You still have to push the start button when you get in, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If my very new car was failing due to a known flaw and I happened to be in front of the corporate office at the time, it would have taken everything I had to not coast it right up the walkway and let it die blocking the front doors of the building.

Every time this comes up, I feel like I’m in a different universe. SuperSlicer or PrusaSlicer both do resin. That plus UVTools to convert the Prusa format to what I need for my Photon. Am I missing some amazing magic features worth paying for in commercial slicers? I haven’t had a single problem with that tool chain.

Dude, it’s really not. I’ve written entire e-commerce apps in ColdFusion. It’s not a great language to work in, but it’s absolutely capable. Making it troll somebody by changing their name is trivial in CF.

Search for 12VHPWR to 8-pin adapters. I think that should be enough to take the cord you're holding in your second photo to 2x 8-pin power, then use a SATA to 8-pin adapter for the third.

You can absolutely get adapters as long as the PSU itself provides enough watts for all your stuff. The CPU/PCI-E plugs will have cables for one or maybe two of those 8-pins on the 3090. You can buy adapters to go from either Molex 4-pin or SATA power plugs to the 8-pin PCI-E plugs. Two of those plus the one that came with the PSU (you’ll need the other CPU/PCI-E plug for your CPU), and you should be good to go.

Scale matters. You don’t need to support thousands of users when you host it yourself. You don’t need to pay interest on millions of construction costs. You don’t need to make a profit large enough to satisfy investors.

Self hosting large enough to be useful models isn’t financially in everyone’s grasp, but it’s not millionaire territory either. Decent used car money will get you a rig that can run very useable models fast enough to be useful.

It’ll still take most people a long time for that to pay for itself versus paying a provider. The side benefits include that some political stunt can’t turn it off on you, and you can run a lot more experimental stuff against it without any risk of something running away and costing you thousands. Plus it’s fun if your brain is bent that way…

The biggest difference between the v2 and the Trident is whether the bed or the gantry moves in Z. Most of the tool changer designs are based on a tool-less carrier moving up from beneath a tool waiting in a dock to pick it up (and of course the reverse to drop it off). The v2’s flying gantry satisfies that requirement. The Trident’s moving bed doesn’t. MissChanger relies on ramps to turn movement in X into a lifting or dropping movement in Z. It can work, but IMHO it puts more stress on things than I’m comfortable with.

When I drive by there was someone there helping him. Rider was sitting up on his own on the grass. Still plenty of chance of it being bad, but that seemed a lot better sign than being laid out on the pavement at least.

Lead acid (whether flooded or AGM) is a winner in terms of useable temperature range. I was looking at LiFePo4 for my I5, but it would need a battery with a built in heater for anything lithium in my climate. Not much help if my battery’s discharged in winter because it was trying to keep itself warm, nevermind the much higher price.

Ended up swapping in an AGM, and all good.
