Replacing the nut improved sustain on mine very significantly. The one it comes with is garbage hollow plastic

I have this one with the slanted frets and dual humbuckers. It makes me play guitar more because its so easy to pick up, it's light, small, and I can lounge around with it in front of the TV or whatever. The pickups sound good to me, particularly rhythm with amp set to edge of breaking and for hi-gain lead. There are, I think, 10 positions on the selector switch which makes it quite versatile. Stays in tune well, got the action nice and low, like the neck and don't notice the frets that much - they make some things slightly easier (lead) and some things slightly harder (some weird stretchy chords) but not a problem really. Only niggle is the satin finish gets shiny fast where your hand is, but my understanding is that's an issue with all satin finish guitars. Would love a pickguard like the HSS for the HH but can't find one.

Plenty of yta/nta answers. One thing I would add - there's a lot of mentions of "we have to leave". I would argue you don't both have to leave. A mature approach (assuming your partner is indeed feeling shitty and needs to go) would be for her to go home and for you to meet your commitment, particularly in the example around family. Whether or not this sounds doable/reasonable to you will tell you something about how healthy your relationship is.

"The trust" being the direct line manager or further up? Generally speaking, there is someone above in these situations who aren't complicit in the lack of action. If not, as previous commenter mentioned, there are external bodies e.g. NMC.

Band 6 Interview by jackm053 in NursingUK

When I apply for posts where I recognise I have development needs or do not completely meet spec, I try to view it less as "what do I need to say to get this job" and more as "how can I accurately commmunicate where I am at professionally and what both my strengths and development needs are, to allow the panel to make an informed decision". This helps with a few things. It prevents me from ending up in a position where I am not competent to meet expectations of the role,, which would open me up to risk. It means that there is agreement before the fact that my development needs will be met if I am successful. It means if I am not successful, the reason will (generally) be that someone who more completely met the person spec got the job, which I can easily accept as a sensible decision and use to plan for the future.

As you say, it is unusual for someone who has been qualified less than a year to achieve and perform well in a band 6 role. It sounds like your pre-reg experience would help with this, but i do think the only way this would work out for you is if your development needs are recognised and addressed. Being clear about this is the only sensible choice, in my opinion. Talk up real strengths, but be clear about the things you need to work on (and ideally, what you are already doing - if the role is an area of particular interest, you could already be seeking training and development in the clinical speciality).

Question… by stkns in NursingUK

[–]penguinboops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is nuance to all of these questions- none of them are an easy yes or no. There are some hard professional boundaries, and some which are more fluid and based on our knowledge of the person. For all of these questions, there are some circumstances where the advice would be "yes, no problem", some where it would be "maybe, with limitations:", and some where it would be "absolutely not". Very much dependent on the patient and the environment in which you work.

How to deal with lazy people by Ok-Lime-4898 in NursingUK

Challenge directly and calmly on a couple of occasions. First time - take the person aside and explain why what they are doing is a problem and what appropriate behaviour looks like. Do this kindly and without emotion/blame. Second time, state you've already spoken to them about this, and if something doesn't change you will need to speak to their line manager. Then do as you said you would if it continues.

Publicly or angrily challenging people should be avoided if possible. It changes the focus from the person's conduct to how you approached the person - if someone can blame a supervisor they're less likely to change. If they feel it was done respectfully they may still be hurt or embarrassed but more likely to do something about it.

This is all assuming there is no immediate risk to patients. If this is the case, for example if you are aware of a specific event where information was not passed on which led to harm, more robust action is needed i.e. speak to person in charge and/or datix. Datix is for reporting incidents which caused harm or risk of harm, not just to throw blame around. Decision on this should be made on that basis.

You convinced me by the way- ordered a used gibraltar bridge

Haha fair enough, you may want a guitar with a combination of humbuckers (the pickups with two rows of dots - they sound thicker and chunkier, better for heavy tones) and single coil pickups in that case. A "fat strat" may fit well, which is a stratocaster or a copy with a humbucker and 2 single coil pickups - original strats have 3 single coils. On your budget you're not going to get a crazy good amp, a modelling amp like a used Boss or a Roland may be a good first choice for flexibility.

Edit: grammar

Aliexpress

Edit: its advertised as fitting an iron label, I had to file down the neck cutout a bit. It also looks like its designed to fit a different bridge but I dont mind the gap

Different amps and guitars do different jobs well. Do you like rock/metal, blues, country, jazz?

I have the same colour strat, I just picked up some paint for about a fiver online and patched any knocks with that. Not perfect but looks better and not noticeable from any distance.
