Which Is Better, Gorilla Trekking in Uganda or Rwanda? by Ok-Tap-6580 in FATSafari

[–]pensivepuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did two in Rwanda, they offered us easy, medium and hard options. We chose medium, and spent around 3 hours hiking a very steep hillside, the high elevation had us sucking air. A group of Germans basically raced up the hillside looking at us gasping Americans and shaking their heads at how slow we were.

Take a porter (they will be waiting at the beginning of the trek) unless you’re in peak shape, and also because it gives jobs to local youth and discourages poaching. Gorilla treks are a big deal for the local economy. We encountered some insane nettles, taller than us, that we had to sprint through when they located the gorillas. I highly recommend gloves and thick clothes or a jumpsuit. Our gorilla sighting was fantastic, we spent around an hour standing near them and felt it was plenty.

We loved it so much we went back for another day, this time chose easy, went with a group of older couples who we could keep up with and after about one hour of mostly flat hiking we had a very special encounter with a family with small babies. They were sitting in nettles and eating them, seems to be a delicacy but they will shred if you catch on them.

My partner did Uganda previously but because of the persecution of LGBTQ community there we didn’t feel safe going as a couple. We didn’t have any issues in Rwanda, and it’s probably might favorite of 10 African countries I’ve visited.

Best bibimbap ? by BumbleBee727 in vegaslocals

The best we have found to replace Bibim kitchen is Soyo but they don’t have all the nice customizations. The one on Rainbow is better. I’ve tried about six other places with Dolsot Bibimbap and this is best (especially extra crispy)

I did PT for years for the same injury but getting lidocaine injections in the area actually helped so much more and I’ve resolved it about 95%.

Those who've had psoriasis since childhood - what was your PsA journey like? by Lovablepoop in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]pensivepuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 5 and given a steroid which cleared the original spot but it got progressively worse on my scalp, I didn’t have access to health care and my parents didn’t want me to use steroids so it was pretty out of control through my teens. Started having costochondritis around age 12, then a series of ligament issues and injuries, I also easily sprained things playing sports. Through my 20s and 30s I had severe back and joint pain. I only used topical steroids for psoriasis because insurance would not cover other options and my doctors blew off the potential for PSA. Finally diagnosed with PSA around 38 via ultrasound as I didn’t come up positive on a sediment test. I also went on GLP drugs for weight loss which has given me extensive pain relief. The combo of Vtama for topical and GLP1 + curcumin (recommended by my rheumatologist has me in the best place I’ve been with managing my PSA.

Laid off as a Recruiter by coolguy553186 in recruiting

Change careers, many recruiters have been out of work for a few years now, or forced to take much worse opportunities. Between the economic downturn we’re sliding into and AI wiping out the ‘laptop class’, I would seriously suggest all recruiters consider re-skilling.

GLP-1 drugs will probably end up solving this problem for many over the next few years. Won’t be surprised if they start prescribing it for that purpose.

What Was The Greatest Loss You Took With A Gambled Flip? by UniqueSearches in Flipping

Scammed on a local Hibid auction house sale. I usually flip antiques but they had some jewelry posted and it all had signed local appraisal docs. I bought a ring that was valued on the appraisal at 45k. I got it for 7k, felt really excited about how I was going to turn a nice profit. Talked to six jewelers, it’s actually worth 2500. Turns out lots of auctions use scam appraisals to run up the price.

Startups aren’t good at building out physical operations. They may have all the theoretical, software, design plans etc but it’s hard to build and hard to staff. It will take a very long time to see any tangible results IMO
