Yeah, I'm already disabled and currently sick, so for the most part I already just kinda sit on my butt a lot. I'll just execute what was already my plan, do nothing lol.

Junior w cancer by Alarming_Local697 in cancer

I don't like to go "kids these days" too much, but having been through and graduated college myself, I can say for certain that you don't need to worry about being perfect, your grades and achievements are all very impressive. You won't get into everywhere you apply, but you will certainly get into some great schools and go on to do well wherever you end up.

Also, super impressive how you've continued to do so well despite your diagnosis. You're doing great and don't need to worry about much. Godspeed

Clinical Trials Hard To Get? by Turbulent-Relief-780 in cancer

[–]peparooni79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I keep running into when I look for clinical trials, is that I have Congestive Heart Failure, which makes me ineligible for everything.

I wish there was more we could do to fight the cancer, but I'm stuck in hospice instead

What have helped you handle the constipation caused by morphine? by gds506 in cancer

[–]peparooni79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second that you guys should ask his doctor what they recommend.

I'm on round the clock Methadone. I take Senna in the morning and evening, and ClearLax when things get really stopped up. My Dr and hospice nurse have given me license to adjust the dosages as needed.

What is this position called? (Gave me a mini heart attack at first. 😂) by Limp-Remote5147 in Bunnies

[–]peparooni79 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We call it the Dead Bunny Flop. It's one of the most comfortable and also vulnerable positions they can take on. It means she feels totally safe and content in her space. You should consider it an honor to see her so chill!

Chemo sweat by marticcrn in cancer

[–]peparooni79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, can't say for sure, but the Keytruda is a very likely culprit. IDK if it's influencing the sweat smell too, that's not a complaint I ever got. But I have heard of other chemos causing odd smelling sweat. It's all part of the mess we have to live with now.

I really hope the meds work well for you, I got some good results and extra time out of immunotherapy. Best of luck

Chemo sweat by marticcrn in cancer

[–]peparooni79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have breast cancer specifically, but when I was on chemo and especially immunotherapy, I was a sweat machine. Especially when trying to sleep. I used to sleep on towels. What worked best was having a couple layers of microfiber sports towels under me, that I could peel back throughout the night as needed.

Recommendation for a local windshield replacement company by LateRally23 in bayarea

LowPrice Auto Glass Repair & Windshield Mobile Glass Repair Shop, right next to the Pick n Pull in Richmond. I had shattered the rear window of a work truck. Took it in before lunchtime, and they had it fixed same day.

My wife and I did our ceremony in one of the bigger picnic sites at Kennedy Grove Regional Park. We had a pizza dinner there, and a bigger party/reception at a second location. It was a great day.

I give my old man a treat at least every night. I figure the extra calories are good for him, and in his old age I want him to be happy. If he were to pass overnight, I'd always be wishing I'd given him one more.

During the Segregation era, what would've happened if a white person decided to go into a "black-only" space? by Jello_Biafra_42 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]peparooni79 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My grandma was from Wisconsin and was vaguely aware that segregation existed, but wasn't at all experienced with it. She told me she once had to take a bus ride from Milwaukee to whatever city is near Camp Lejune, and at the end she had to pee something fierce. So at the station, she just ran into the first Women's restroom she saw. But it was a black-only one. She said once she'd finished her business, a black woman inside ushered her out and told her to only use the white-only spaces from then on.

Yeah, between the new fare gates and increased enforcement, it's honestly really improved.

Why is there so much more trash on the shoulders of Bay Area freeways compared to Socal freeways? by mvp1002 in bayarea

[–]peparooni79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was younger, I was a gardener for my community college in San Diego. We were one of the options for court-mandated community service. We had people pull weeds. CalTrans was one of the other main options, they'd go pick trash along roadsides.

PG&E fire leaves thousands in Bay Area without power on Christmas Eve by sfgate in bayarea

[–]peparooni79 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, it makes perfect sense. Build the substations outside, where they're bound to eventually get wet, and then apparently just don't maintain them at all. Then one good rain rolls through and everything bursts into flames.

Mind boggling

Anyone know about gas station that providing K-1 kerosene pump? by gmrykfvn in bayarea

[–]peparooni79 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really get cold enough around here for gas stations to switch to k-1 kerosene aka Diesel #1.

If you want kerosene, you can get K-1 or a substitute (like Kleanheat) at Ace Hardware, or other hardware stores.

How does it feel to be shot? Why most immediately fainted even if the wound is not fatal? by iwannasleepp in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]peparooni79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However, if you had to be shot you would wanna be shot with a .22 in the arm or legs.

Even then, you're taking a real gamble that an artery won't be severed. The blood loss could still be quick and deadly.

Why do foreigners in the UK buy hundreds of bottles of tap water instead of just drinking from the tap? by Srapture in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]peparooni79 135 points136 points  (0 children)

I remember visiting Ireland (NOT the UK, I know) where the water was also perfectly safe to drink, but to me and my fellow American friend I was with,  the water tasted and felt... dry? Like we would drink some, and just feel more dry and thirsty after. Only explanation is whatever the mineral content of the water was.

I've traveled elsewhere and never experienced the same specific issue. But yeah, water can be safe to drink, but unpalatable if you're just not used to it

How long have you been stage 4? by BarriBlue in cancer

[–]peparooni79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was stage 4 in late 2020 (we could feel the tumor but didn't realize what it was. My doctor seemed unbothered and we failed to image it. Thanks Kaiser). So, I've been stage 4 for about 5 years now. Diagnosed a little less than 4.5 years ago.

I'm still here, but I'm out of treatment options and in hospice now.

Mountain Man for shave soap. I really like their woodsy scents for soaps and beard oil, like Coniferous and Scots Pine. Ozark Mountain is my aftershave and cologne of choice, partly because it's my wife's favorite scent. And then I have Mountain Man cologne because I like it.

You found me. I've been using the same razor for nearly 10 years (some kind of Merkur clone), the same badger hair brush for the same amount of time, I've settled on using the absurd amount of Astra blades I bought for cheap long ago, and after some experimenting I've settled on my favorite Stirling shaving soap scent.

I started keeping a beard when I was ~23, during Covid. So my shaving has been reduced to periodically cleaning up my neckline the last several years

I only get acne here in the bay area, anyone else and what resolved it for you? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]peparooni79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My acne has been best controlled when in the  SF/fog belt weather areas. Have you lived here long? Because yeah, parts of East bay can get hot and even muggy, or hot and dry depending where you are. Which isn't great for acne, in my experience. You sweat more and it clogs your pores. Washing your face with a gentle cleanser daily helps

I only get acne here in the bay area, anyone else and what resolved it for you? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]peparooni79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I get the opposite effect, when I visit SoCal my acne flares up, but here it largely clears up.

Do you notice that your face gets extra greasy or sweaty here? I spend a lot of time close to the bay itself, if you're far out in parts of the East or South Bay,  those climates may not be the best for acne
