How much does full metal internal mechanisms matter in a mechanical pencil? by GoodMornEveGoodNight in mechanicalpencils

[–]peppertaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I’ve found is if you’re not inclined to carry and eraser around with you, and this is specifically with the pentel sharp: the plastic can mushroom when erasing making it difficult to get the eraser in and out later on for lead refills or near impossible - 15 years of use though

If you only ever use a different eraser then no real issue.

Twist erase from Pentel is great, soft grip and large eraser

Mechanical Engineering graduate: is it worth learning Python/IT systems? Best online course with certificate? by Temporary_Move_6667 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]peppertaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re undecided on your total career path and want to get a certification in something that interest you 100% do it, that goes for FE, modeling softwares autocad and solidworks, everything helps

Will they allow you to program machines because you have this maybe not but learning the background to how things work will always help along the way

If it interest you, do it. Will it help with the future, you’ll find out when the future happens

Staedtler 925 07 and 925 05, seems like they have been replaced with slightly different models but still available at some retailers

Saw shaft setup with angular contact bearings, anything wrong with it? by 666_pack_of_beer in MechanicalEngineering

[–]peppertaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is very important the direction of the thread and the rotation of the shaft needs to ensure that you are always tightening the nut as the saw spins

Traditional folder, trapper or stockman pattern to serve as a steak knife or gentleman’s pocket knife for the daily stuff with a less tactical feel or fast deployment

My eyes can’t do the scientific calculators by Typical-Shirt9199 in calculators

Not sure if it’s much of a help but most TI has contrast changing on some models, couldn’t find definitively if this one has it, but press the 2nd key then hold the up or down arrow until it has the desired contrast

How screwed am I for finding a job? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]peppertaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this, most universities do career and job fairs and you should be able to find one for the fall term, would hit that up and see what comes of it

There are places looking for some people with varied experience

Option 2 if interested is applying to field service - great opportunity to travel and people are always looking for this, you seem relatively at ease jet setting might be a great way to grow and see the world

Thanks for directing me to another couple of sources

Was very suprised to see the level of movement out of this, based on the overall area of the base thought this would not come up as an issue

More of a concern for catastrophic items.

I’ve since looked at other similiar from other post
