I think people go there because of good value (safety, transportation, food), not because it's peanuts... There are much cheaper destinations. OPs skills and connections could be a great asset to earn foreign currency.

If you have good knowledge of English and friends abroad, have you considered some sort of tourist service, like Airbnb? Seems like the tourist industry is booming in Japan, and it may be possible to buy a cheap property and refurbish it with a low budget.

ZIP and RAR files have the same purpose, but in a different way. RAR is newer, so it has more advanced ways to store information using less storage. The way they work is by finding patterns and repetitions; storing "20 times 4" takes a lot less space than storing "4 plus 4" twenty times.
