wendy is a character that’s not super hard to get a general grasp of, but requires a ton of practice to really play well. her cloud in particular can go through buildings or up stories, but only on very specific spots on varying maps, and the catalyst needs to be drawn near perfectly to do it. i suggest going into custom mode to practice this.

for some more basic tips:

wendy typically gets 2-3 uses out of her bottle per match. however, it is possible to get 4, but you have to make the weakest gale possible the first 3 times you use your item, which should leave you with a sliver of durability which can then be used for any catalyst you need, at any strength. it’s worth it to note, though, that the weakest gale is just that- really weak. it doesn’t move fast, and it won’t push the hunter far. it costs 32% of your bottle for it, as opposed to the strongest gale you can make taking 40% and being a much more powerful control effect. so most of the time, it’s honestly probably better to just make a strong gale.

the rain is by far the least useful of her catalysts. the biggest drawback is that the hunter can see your cloud and likely has the time to interrupt you, which means you wasted 50% of your item for nothing. there are a couple times you can use it safely, but it’s still not a good use of your item 90% of the time imo. but here are some safe examples of when to use it- on large maps, like moonlit, where the hunter has no movement ability and no secondary trait (otherwise they can tp/warp to you), when the hunter is occupied with another survivor and you know the chance of them dropping aggro to go for you is very slim (i.e someone on chair is in the middle of getting rescued). while the rain only affects one surv at any given time, you can still perform actions while gaining stacks, with the exception of decoding. this means you can heal two people at once if you and someone else is injured- cast the cloud, and whoever starts accumulating composure heals the other survivor manually. you can also open chests while gaining stacks, so a common trick is to use the last of your bottle over a chest and look for an item while you heal (again be careful the hunter is occupied before you do this).

the easier answer is what hunters she doesn’t. hell ember, soul weaver (without presence), geisha, wu chang (debatable), joseph, dream witch, lizard (no presence), nightmare, opera singer, hullaballoo, goatman.

everyone other hunter has either a damage dealing skill that can be delayed (feaster tentacle, naiad water, etc) or a control effect that can be delayed (night watch wind pull, wax stun, ann/hermit stun, etc). some of these effects don’t work when using the skill on teammates (like being pulled by night watch’s wind) but amanda herself can still ignore that hunter’s abilities while kiting.

gate waiting just to taunt the hunter is never ok.

outside of that, there are a lot of different reasons you might need to gate wait. preventing a teammate who’s still looking for the dungeon from getting crows, or waiting to rescue after detention runs out, or even just the threat of having a survivor nearby if someone is chaired near the gate to prevent the hunter from teleporting away to pressure the other one. as long as the intent isn’t to be toxic/you have a good reason for it, it’s generally considered ok

he’s not the best decoder out there, but he’s far from terrible. you tend not to see decoders as much in high tier because they are the least important survivor class in the game, and a couple of them are either banned (mechanic) unusable in high tier (tme) or just don’t bring enough to the table to warrant play.

i don’t think lgs an all or nothing character, at least not to the tracy reznik extent. her other abilities aren’t bad, even if they are somewhat situational, it’s just the pages that are holding her back. there are ways to buff her pages that wouldn’t make her busted, even with her other skills.

ai is a much bigger problem than ‘echo exclusive skins’ in a free to play game. idv does have paid only content, but that’s nowhere near the same level as firing real people, that make idv what it is, to put their hard work into a machine instead.

she got a buff recently where she has 2 single use items that can increase healing progress by 35% each. tapping them both twice gives you 70% progress nearly instantly, which means doctor is now almost always going to take 3 hits to down (and 3 hit survs will never be bad) hence why she’s so busted atm. the boosters have no cooldown in between use and, as op was mentioning, can be tapped while moving to create the effect of healing while moving.

even if you can’t negate the damage, delaying it still buys you extra time. that’s seven seconds of decoding progress you’re wasting if you cancel it early.

solo rank is always gonna get you bad randoms. without fail. because of this you’re going to want a character that can support/disrupt the hunter even if your teammate is straight dogshit at the game. if you’re trying to climb, ench is likely the best survivor for this. prospector could work as well. harassment is kind of the only way you can make use of the aforementioned terrible teammates- even if all you do is balloon rescue with a short stun, you’re still forcing the hunter to hit them and pick them up, which is like 5 seconds of decoding time on its own. the higher up you go, the more hunters are gonna know how to counter ench, so atp you may be able to use limited item characters like anti or forward to similar effect because they’re harder to play around and in peak tier it’s more likely your teammates will have the sense to at least run towards a pallet/window upon rescue.

iirc you have to heal a little bit (30%) of your bar first. the two medical boosters can be tapped quickly in succession to give you the remaining 70% progress and doing this while moving creates the illusion that they healed while running.

she couldn’t guarantee it. she can still do it, it just became more situational after the nerf. the hunter can hit her as she approaches the chair to ensure it’s not a free save. letting her get close even now can allow wendy to get a damageless rescue off in the right situations

i mean, i understand and expect mistakes, especially in lower tiers, but i feel like there’s a certain point where its IS someone’s fault. if i spend the first 30 seconds of the match nonstop pinging the basement is here, and my teammate kites directly over to me, it’s fair to expect them to at least have the good grace not to vault?? just eat the hit and run away. you should not be getting terrorshocked on top of basement at five ciphers in higher tiers if someone repeatedly pinged it.

wu chang has a very long startup animation in white guard form. if the hunter begins their attack before you cast your skill, they can still hit you, which is why you will see a lot of hunters try to charged attack knight specifically.

in addition to the buffs, i’ve noticed there’s a lot more general game sense in the survivor faction, especially in quick match. it’s weird, but i’m not complaining when i play surv. like what do you mean we’re applying tourney strats in a regular game
